My Biography
Hey.....you can't say I didn't warn you that this would be a snoozefest.
Why don't you stop reading before you slip quietly into a coma......and just go check out some of the other pages?
This is a bit boring.May I suggest you skip this and go straight to the Art pages, the photo album or Lous Furkids?

I was born in Preston, Lancashire England. My Father was also from Preston and my Mother from Paris, France. I am an only child, though I do have relatives in both England and the United States.

Dad was in the RAF and Mum in the French Resistance when they met and married towards the end of  WW2. I began school in England at the age of four and we emigrated to B.C. Canada when I was six.

The B.C. coast is a beautiful place to live, with its mountains, forests and ocean all right there....but it can be expensive.
I began Ballet and Piano at a very early age and was considered for a time, to have been a prodigy. I began writing at age 10 and won the Brooke Bond International Art Contest at the age of 12 (in the 12-18 age group), I studied and practiced all aspects of Theatre Arts, from props through Stage Management to Acting and Choreography. I danced, acted and Modeled Professionally and "hung" with the best in the business from Opera people through Actors and Musicians. I even made some props for the first Superman Movie and Choreographed many shows and Competitive Ice Skater's Programs in and around Vancouver.

I have always had an interest in many things (except for numbers....I am not into numbers and they scare the heck out of me), so unfortunately, or fortunately, depending upon which way you look at it, I would throw myself wholeheartedly into a subject, then suddenly branch off in a totally different direction which left me as one of those people with "a little knowledge about a great many things but a master of nothing".

I was even married for two years (a case of being WAY too immature). I have so many interests...Reading, Computers, Holistic Health, Animals, Music, All aspects of Dance, Acting, Teaching, Sign Language, Nursing and working with the Handicapped. I studied Nursing, Transactional Analysis, Massage, Numerology, Leatherwork and many of the  Psychic/Spiritual and Healing Arts. When I could no longer dance due to complications from an accident, I taught Ballet, was an Ice Skating Choreographer for many years and founded a Healing center called "Contact Health" which incorporated the Healing techniques I had learned into a program specifically designed to fit the needs of each individual.

Tiring of the city, in 1974 I visited Alberta, moved there and started my own Dance School. I credit my initial five year stay in Alberta with instilling in me a love for animals. The pets I have now are all rescued.
In 1980 I returned to B.C. and to college where I  studied to become a Para-Professional Worker with the Hearing and Visually Impaired, a Braille Transcriber, an Interpreter for the Deaf and a Deaf-Blind Specialist. For years after that, I worked with the Handicapped of all ages in all different surroundings from Group Homes, Institutions, Hospitals, Job Training Centers and Schools.

While back in Vancouver I taught Continuing Education  courses in Dance, Contact Health, basic ESP and American Sign Language. One day a friend asked me if I would like to go with her and do some Interpreting at a three-day Science Fiction Convention and I am now totally hooked on Science Fiction and Fantasy (books, movies and computer games...what wonderful escapism!!)

In 1989 I returned to Alberta and shortly after was diagnosed with Degenerative Disk Disease, Diabetes, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia and all the other annoying little things that go along with that combination, which has put severe limitations on my activities. I have, however, managed to do illustrations for three as-yet-to-be published books (get on with it ladies!), made a life with rescued animals, returned to art and writing and become totally enamored of computers (Oh joy...oh rapturous joy!).

In September of 2000, my Mother died, and I  finally returned to B.C. to be closer to my Father (who had become a bit of a globe-trotter and likely didn't miss me one little bit.)  I had to find a place in the country.  All that was available was a very old mobile in a farmyard, but it was big enough to accommodate myself, my pets and all the "stuff" I had accumulated over the years.
Unfortunately my dad passed away suddenly on October 8, 2005. I have moved into his house. It will be hard because he was my last parent and I don't have any siblings.
The original plan was to move back to Rimbey Alberta which is a cheaper place to live, but with my health being a bit iffy, I need to be here where I can see my health care team without driving for an hour in driving snow or minus 40 degree weather.

So...that is my boring story to date. I left most of the juicy bits out (sorry).
Well.......maybe I can spill ONE little juicy bit, but don't tell anyone. Back in my twenties when I was barely 98 lbs., with dance, acting and modeling jobs becoming scarce, in order to subsidize my ballet school, for two years I foolishly became one of the top 3 Strippers in North America, working under the name "Satin Doll"

Now may I suggest that if you have read this far, you give yourself a  pat on the back or go and pour yourself a good, stiff drink...then go and visit some of my much more fun pages.
