Missionto Mars (2000)

Submitted by: Louise and Bob
Starring: Don Cheadle, Tim Robbins, Jerry O'Connell, Kim Delaney, Elise Neal
Directed by: Brian De Palma, Stephen H. Burum
Genre: Sci-Fi, Adventure

A movie that we (actually, only Bob) really wanted to see. Actually, any movie about the outer space and the unknown is pretty cool. Story Line: We, the human race, tries to colonize Mars, sees something strange, kills all but one, people go rescue that one, loses one in the act, uncovers the mysteries of the origins of life. We had some dilemmas with their explanations for things, like the Tim Robbins Rescue. In our mind, we have a solution that would have saved all of them. But I guess the point was to lose someone so people can have a sad moment. The ending was alright. Less disappointing than "Contact" but definitely not enough to satisfy the people (like us) who are anxiously awaiting the answers to the universe. This movie gets 3 go's for being not too shabby but really, not great either.

What can I say about Mission to Mars? Not much considering the movie was so boring I fell asleep. Twice. Each time I woke up the monotony and the pace put me back to sleep. This movie tries to be sentimental and inspiring like Contact but the direction stunk. The script was so predictable. Hell I rewind the movie through the parts I missed, and I didnt need to listen to the dialogue so I started fast-forwarding. Go out dig a ditch in your backyard; itd be more interesting than this movie. The special affects you make with aluminum foil would probably be more believable. I think the basic code I wrote in 5th grade computer class had more visual realism than this. Dont go.
