Let me just start from the end. I am sure all of you have seen the film so I have no fear of giving away the plot. All I got to say is that the ending really touched me man. It was like the most incredible scene. The little boy and ET's care and love for each other was portrayed so well that I totally teared up. It was amazing. Me crying over an alien going home and leaving his or her or its little friend. I do believe in aliens by the way. But anyway, this film was sort of a breakthrough for its time. I mean, talking about extraterrestrials coming to earth, being humanize and developing human like relationships is pretty nuts. But it was great for the spirit of the times, when space exploration was at its height and programs like NASA and SETI were actually popular. At least I think they were. But I'm off topic. Oh yeah, one more very interesting point about this film, Drew Barrymore is in it! Well, I'm sure you knew that but I wanted to remind you of the cute little girl that she once was and compare that to now. Don't you just love that? Anyway, I loved the spectacular music used in the background, I loved the plot, I love the acting (even though the actors were young) and I love everything Steven Spielberg did to make this film so wonderful. I truly believe that they should re-release this film and show the younger generations what we had the chance to see. Umm... you guessed it, 5 go's.
