Submitted by: Peas and Carrots Starring: Pete Postlethwaite, Kelsey Grammer, Ian Holm, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Julia Ormond Directed by: John Stephenson Genre: Drama Okay okay, so we rented a TNT "made-for-TV" movie, yeah yeah, but it was a DVD (and it was only a buck), so there!!! The film is an adaptation of George Orwell's famous Animal Farm. Aside from getting the animals to "act," the actual process of "adapting" the book to the TV screen isn't really that difficult, since the producers can't really mess up as Orwell already wrote clearly and concisely. For those who haven't read the book (you should, by the way, and it won't take you more than a few hours), the story begins with a revolt by various farm animals against their humanoid farmer. Each animal character symbolizes a prominent figure in Russian/Soviet history. For example, Napoleon represents Stalin and Snowball represents Trotsky. If you get the DVD version like we did, you even get to see the complete list of symbols, cool huh? So, the animals starts a revolution, following the ideas of Animalism, as professed by Old Major (their first leader and one helluva ugly pig), and then what? Watch it, you won't regret it. Final notes: 1) Have some imagination with regards to the animal "windmill" and 2) we have got to get ourselves one of those cute border collies!!! 4 Go's ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |
