"Lou Kelly was the 'easily swayed' one who would always ditch camaraderie when the chance of a stash of bourbons was waved  tantalizingly neath her nostrils by Ms Ferguson... she had the ability also to be devastatingly spiteful, which was accentuated by her (and we do not  mean this cruelly) 'sharp' features... there was always a sense of menace lying just beneath the surface with her, especially when they bought in a  new character, she'd be there, usually with a snooker cue looking as though  she were hatching a plan... hmmmmm actually when you look back upon it some of the acting in the show was rather marvelous"........... Count Lovely and Spike

"There's only one thing worse than hearing that foghorn of yours first thing in the morning and that's seeing where it comes from!"  .............Top dog Nora Flynn to Lou Kelly in Prisoner.

"I too am mourning the demise of Louise Kelly - the tomboyish, punkette psychopath who went head to head with the Freak, the Beater and Doughface Desmond. And blinked. A truly great character, mainly thanks to Louise Siversen throwing herself into the role with a reckless abandon that borders on the heroic. Lou was indeed a woman who could overcome considerable odds with ease, endure terrible wounds without flinching, stare death in the face with a cool and steady eye - and who would break out in a cold sweat in a supermarket checkout"....... Ben

"Lou Kelly and Alice Jenkins have always been two of my favourite characters. Lou plays background mumbler to psychopathic villain and everything in between. She is truly the best ever character. They are definitely the best double act of any characters to grace the screen, anyone else care to disagree??"............. SpaceDog

"Regarding the softening of Joan (Ferguson), I think it was TOTALLY NECESSARY!!! One thing I'll always regret about Lou Kelly's character is that she hardly ever got a decent bit of background characterisation. The Selby story promised much but never delivered anything concrete"..... Jamie Smith

"Kelly gets a lot of humorous lines, but I think it's the way the actress puts them that brings a scene alive!"... Chicken

"Lou Kelly was always somewhere in the background being mischievous, we didn't like her role at first, but her role progressed as time went on especially with Margo and Reb, and I think it started to show what a star she was, with that strange hair, and pokey nose, and wild eyes, and her long lanky body, she was just perfect, very magnetic, and we just care so much about her like she's a real person. she is so very real to us, yes, she can be evil at times, but there's an honesty there in that evil , one can excuse it for some reason, and you cant help but want her to get away with it. I think she really started to shine after Myra (another brill top dog) was shot in the head, there was a terrible silence after that, like a sinking feeling, but Kelly kept it alive, if it wasn't for her those episodes would really have been dead. I think when Rita Connors came along, the Director got confused with Kelly's role and didn't quite know where she was going, as he hasn't fulfilled her full potential. There is so much more to Kelly, and its ended before its begun, with this very sad and humiliating story line at the moment. We are under the impression that the Director wanted to get rid of Kelly in preference to Rita, and we are not happy with this storyline at all, I'm sure an actress must feel some sense of humiliation when she has to play this this kind of part, surely he could have found a better ending for such a great character, and such an unusual one, he has made Kelly like Frank Bourke, in any case, where are the rest of her gang, it wasn't only Alice, what about outside back-up, relatives, a character like that would always have connections outside, they have made her so isolated, it just doesn't seem right, they've completely ruined it for us, just as her character was developing more and we were getting to know and understand Kelly, he gives us this sadness. We want to know about her past, her family, why she was like she was, if I was the writer I would have found a better story than the one now, I don't even know if I can watch the next few episodes as someone hinted to me it gets worse for Kelly. What a shame!!! What a waste. If they weren't repeats I would write to the Director and tell him what I think about this storyline. Kelly is a phenomenon"......................... Ann

"Lou Kelly comes out with the funniest and best one-liners, she has superb delivery and is so nasty in a lovable sort of way- quite sexy too if you like that sort of thing. The show really goes down hill when she leaves. She was the only real fun character during the Nora-era"............................ Robert Jones

"Welcome to the A-list, Lou Kelly! Charged with murder, and now the first person to do something satisfying with Phil Cleary, in her peculiar escape attempt where she shows off her softball skills. Oh well, if you give the women highly dangerous weapons like baseball bats, then have your main security gate guarded by one man with presumably a little key.....Next week they'll probably be trying machete-dancing, and giving the old codger on the gate the day off" .......Peter Friedlos

"I wonder where Lou finds the time to keep her nails and eyebrows so well groomed in between all her evil schemes? Check next time you see her, would she really bother?"................................ Kate

"Young, good body, nice smile, wild personality: Lou Kelly - Vicious, snarling, spiky-haired psychopath"..........Terry

"Louise Siversen is certainly among the better Prisoner actresses in my opinion, and her evil sneers, her skill in delivering comic put-downs (and her legendary over-use of hairspray, single-handedly contributing a major hole in the ozone layer, perhaps) have become trademarks of Lou Kelly, and made her stand out from many of the other resident antagonists. I've often thought it was a shame Ms Siversen's acting talents weren't used more fully, since we got a sample of her abilities during the Anita Selby period, where her performance in the scenes with the campaigning nun gave Lou a more 3 dimensional character. And we've also seen glimpses of her skill in subtle comedy recently - I'm sure I'm not the only one who laughed aloud at her wonderful facial expressions (of incredulity) during her early scenes sharing a cell with the slightly potty Daphne".............................. March

"Classic line of the episode from Lou, something like "I'm gonna take my clothes off"- was that a promise darling?" ......Terry

"I was amazed at how well Lou took that little excursion in the drier. If you had been spun around and around continuously at quite high speeds, wouldn't you come out feeling giddy and disoriented, not really having any sense of direction, and quite possibly throw up due to having the contents of your stomach thrown around inside you? Lou is apparently a lot harder than I gave her credit for. She showed the barest hints of dizziness, just staggering a bit, but she could easily wheel a basket through a narrow gate, turn a corner, walk down a corridor and only a few minutes later she was fine, albeit a little suntanned"........................???

"The women were trying to figure out what had happened, and where Eve was. "Something bloody's going on", said Lou, which I think was a minor fluff of her line, but it was impressively accurate. Later, the women were in the laundry discussing Eve and what she'd done to Joyce, but how did they know..?".................... March

"I think Lou Kelly is a great character and very convincing. She is wonderfully acted by Louise Siversen" ......Louise West

"Lou was busy trying to blackmail Bob Meringue into helping her escape. There was a wonderful scene between the two characters, with Lou still showing subtle signs of twitchy instability, and Bob sounding very creepy. ("Once you've been taught how to kill, you never quite get it out of your system.") But by this stage, Lou's hair had gone all limp and lifeless, so it was clearly time to get rid of her, and the clues were starting to pile up. (Lou - "This better be my last meal in here!"; Bob to Kath - "You haven't met Lou Kelly, and you WON'T")" ........... March

"Is anyone else eagerly awaiting the gel-fest that is Lou Kelly???" ...... David

"Lou Kelly, you might have seen her in the background already. She's a character that "sneaks" into the show, very successfully. A great actress, Louise Siversen makes the most out of Lou. Big blonde hair, no doubt responsible for a few holes in the ozone layer" .......... vh MK

"Aha! It looks as though the start of the Lou/Lurch era has finally begun. One day mumsy-haired background lurker, the next, scary blond bombshell getting all the lines and frightening the newcomers. Amazing what a bit of hair gel and some highlights can do for a girl's image"..... March

"Lou Kelly: It's been eighteen years since I have seen the episodes with her in it, but I must say at present she is living up to my teenage memories of the character. She breathes life into the show, when there are many many things to criticise at the very minute!" ..... David Dixon

"The best thing about all of this era in Prisoner was LOU KELLY! Her backchat and put-downs always enlightened any evening".... NAC

"Len said "That'll be the day, when Len Murphy needs a woman to do a job for him!", just before going off to Lou Kelly's cell, for her to do a 'job' for him. Though what kind of "job" I wouldn't know"........ March

"Lou Kelly- quite the nasty pastie. To think of all the bumbling idiots who would've gone un-terrorised if it wasn't for her. Thank you Lou, and besides, you were dealt with sufficiently in the end. **smirks**"............. Water cooler dictator

"I have to say that the gel queen, Lou Kelly has impressed throughout her systematic escapes and her savage treatment of poor dotty ole Joycie. Very gripping also is Lou perched on Deidre's front doorstep, affecting a 'posh' police accent to gain entry and then spitting and hissing like a tomcat with the gun levelled at her. Silly though for her to fall asleep like the melodramatic villains of matinee cinema. As I have said before, I find Lou (and Reb) refreshing changes from the monster of the week"............. David Dixon

"It really was a pity this episode (615) was so bad....cause it was LOU KELLY's last appearance" .... Geoff Field

"Lou was a bit pissed off, because Rita and the girls had put her in the drier. (Interestingly, despite spinning around at high enough temperature to give her 'sunburn', her hair remained impressively rigid and styled.) Lou walked into the kitchen, and saw Maggot sitting among the dangerous implements, alone and unsupervised. "I need a blade," barked the frazzled one. "No worries, take your pick," replied Maggot. It's lucky that Wentworth isn't just a low or medium security prison"....... March

"Lou has sunk to even more evil depths of scumminess :-). I've got to admit, the character entertains but she really is a horrible, horrible bitch. I was a bit disappointed about her giving up the press so easily at the end. It didn't ring true for me. I guess she thought that Nora would kill her if she didn't. Still that last bit could have been played out a lot better. One thing I did like was when Lou played the piano to make it 'a musical comedy' and I also liked it when Julie said she needed to find a screw, Lou said "Yeah, tell me about it" or something like that. V. funny!" ..... Ann Duncan

"Lou, like Ann said, Lou is one ruthless bitch. There really is *no* limit to what she will do to get "to the top of this slag heap" (as she so eloquently put it herself). It's amazing to see how far Lou has come. When she got her first lines in around episode 455, she was just a minor heavy with her wise cracks being fairly prominent. Then as she got more and more screen time, she was nothing more than Reb's lap dog. I can still remember her sucking up to Reb asking if her and Alice could do Reb's "dirty work for her". Reb always seemed to have Lou's measure... she was always able to put her in her place. The first time Lou asserted herself was after she got stuck with that murder rap and then escaped. From then on she just snow balled in terms of nastiness. The writers really did screw her around in the last episode. She had the women well and truly under her thumb, only to simply step aside when Nora gave her a dirty look. Sure Nora had just tried to kill her, but you'd think Lou would be able to handle her"...... Marcus S

"I really disliked the wedding breakfast stuff. I did however love the subplot and the Lou/Moran scenes. They were handled swimmingly by both actors. Moran was downright scary. I can't believe Lou is gone! I thought she deserved a more exciting ending than that. I would have liked to have seen Lurch enact the ultimate revenge or perhaps Bassinger should have just killed her on the outside? It seems a waste that they brought her back to Wentworth only to kill her off before the others confronted her. Lexie was the only inmate who had scenes with her"..... Ann Duncan

"I have to say that Louise Siversen/Lou has been the best element in Prisoner for a long time. In fact, this is the first time since Myra that I have been sorry to see a cast member leave. Lou's energy and smart mouth will be missed. I guess this is the new (and final) era" .... ?????

"Lou Kelly is the best character at the moment...pretty amazing when you consider about a year ago Lou was a one-dimensional "baddie", only one step up from a mute !!" ...... Geoff Field

"Man she did the best acting she's ever done this week. The screaming and crying when she thought she was going to die, the body language, folding her arms and almost hugging herself, the way she freaked out when Steve talked to her in the toilets, her desperate cheek, the way she yelled at Lurch, the cool hair. Lou Kelly is officially my favourite character at the moment. I shall enjoy watching her until her departure. I still think Lou has got off a bit lightly punishment-wise so far. But then, nothing happened to her when she killed Nora's baby either" ...... Ann Duncan

"The excellent scenes of Lou and Alice and the 'hanging' prank. I really enjoyed these scenes, and I even thought the shaky camera work added to the chaotic sense of the action. The acting was very good, and the look of terror on both Lou and Alice's faces was certainly convincing. It was also followed by some fine acting by them both"........ March

"LOVED the way Lou returned to Wentworth as nasty as ever. What a BITCH !!!" .... Geoff Field

"Meanwhile, Lou was making her way through the woods towards the nearby cottage, in her little red cape, and giving me flashbacks of childhood bedtime stories featuring wolves, big teeth and grandmas. Loved her Naughty Nightnurse outfit, with what must be the shortest nurse's skirt I've ever seen. Before long, she arrived at Alice's mother's farm, where she informed Ma Jenkins that she was Alice's friend, and Alice had mentioned her mother. Lucky that Alice had also mentioned in passing the address of the farm, and full directions"............ March

"Lou - Man, she has really lost it. I found the wrist-slashing scenes a bit disturbing. I am enjoy every second of Lou because I know she won't be around much longer. Lou going to the farm is about the first memory I have of watching Prisoner. It's interesting to watch it so many years later"..... Ann Duncan

"Back on Ma Jenkins' farm, Lou found herself sitting on a haystack, faced with the problem of dirty, damp straw. But at least it was nothing a good conditioner and a can of Firm Hold couldn't fix. But then came Alice's revolting brother, and you couldn't help feeling sorry for her. Poor Lou, despite her vicious nature, she seemed to be competing for the crown of Unfeasible Amounts of Human Catastrophe, currently held by Meg. Now that Meg hadn't had a decent or memorable storyline for ages, Lou was catching up, with near-fatal bashing's, unwilling sex with Len Murphy, slashing her wrists to get out, the humiliation of a public 'hanging', and now Alice's brother. Maybe we should have guessed his unpleasant intentions when he first appeared, and said he'd been "knocking around up the bush". My heart went out to her"....... March

"I loved the look on Lou Kelly's face a few episodes back when she put the special ingredient in the booze I also agree that the way she slashed her wrists was a bit disturbing but I still loved it all the same"............... Dan Trenear

"The best scenes were Lou at the farm. I liked her initial lies (I hate violence) but also her reactions to Lurch's brother before, during and after the rape. Brilliant stuff. I also realised that Lou must have been raped quite a few times in her life and I understand why she's tough like she is. We got a tiny insight when she spoke with Anita Selby and when she tried to hug Daphne but it would have been nice to peel away a few more layers. Lou's been exciting to watch this past year (and, along with Joan, was the only character that interested me during the B5 period)"............. Ann Duncan

"Starting with the re-cap, where Lou lifted the cover of her meal to reveal the death threat, suddenly looking pale and horrified. Incorrect use of "your" and "you're" is a pet hate of mine too, so I know how she felt. And if grammatically-dubious threats weren't bad enough, the sound man appeared to be playing an old Space Invaders game very loudly throughout the whole opening sequence" ............. March

"Loved Lou Kelly's return to her old form when she grabbed the rifle and seized command at the farmhouse!!" ...... Geoff Field

"I suspect that after all of the excitement that went into Lou Kelly's activities it was rather hard to keep things going at that kind of a pitch" ..... Juls

"Lou, she always seemed to be a character I either loved or hated. After starting off pretty weak, she escaped and the next thing we know she's either attempting murder (Myra) or actually murdering people (Sam Greenway). Then the writers decided to soften her again before making her go totally psycho and then kill her off in unspectacular fashion. One thing's for sure, since Lou left there's been a void that needs to be filled fast. Kath Maxwell seems to be well on her way but I'm not sure what I think of her yet. Lou's exit was very lackluster (Add that to the list of exits I'm not happy with) and just stupid for a start. I didn't really enjoy last nights episode at all and I am starting to understand why the show was axed not long after this point"...... Marcus S

"She (Lou Kelly) is by far my favourite character, I love her so much. I would love to own all the episodes in which Lou Kelly starred, that isn't very likely, but I would love to see a Lou Kelly special on the 3rd box set, the difficult thing would be choosing which few episodes would be included on the discs though as she's added so much drama to the series. She stole every scene she is in and I think in a way she could be sexy and menacing at the same time (look at her face in ep 600 when she's talking to Bob Moran as she says "And we want that on TV. too"). There's something about Lou that sets her apart from other characters for me, I think it's because, for the most part Louise Siversen did such a magnificent job playing her, her constant aggressive attitude, one liners, cynical attitude towards life, sneering face, brilliant voice, unpredictability and occasional weaker, more vulnerable side makes her such an interesting, entertaining character. I think she is kind of a tragic character, it seems she has been failed growing up & feels she has to put up a front of being a right hard bitch in front of people because she can't trust/open up to anyone, the scene in which Lou tries to cheer up a character (I think this was Daphne Graham) shows the Lou Kelly everyone sees might not be the real Lou Kelly deep down. It would also seem all she knows is violence and she acts the way she does because she believes that's what is expected of her, she has such a dark view of the world she believes everyone has the same twisted way of thinking that she makes her self out to have so she puts up a hard front. In prison there was no attempt made to rehabilitate her so she was failed by the system and died a lonely woman in prison" ............ Chucky

"When I saw her (Lou Kelly) lying dead on the floor with the officers surveying her, she suddenly looked fragile. She is a tragic character (compared it to Myra's heroic death). I liked what Nancy wrote in her diary. Lou was the life support the the show over the last 80 or so eps. I really wish she had stayed on but I guess they had gone way too far with the character after the riot. She'll be missed (and re-watched!)" .......... Insubordination

"I can totally see why people loved Lou - her putdowns, her remarks, her "against authority" attitude! I think she represented a part of us that most of us never show but sometimes would really like to!!! (obv not the criminal violent thing - but her general attitude!). Her performance during the riot was mesmerising - it was totally believable that she was really in a mad frenzied state" ..... Pete

"Loved the image of Lou lounging on her bed, ogling glossy pictures of scantily-clad hairy men with big sideburns. This made Eve's comment to her later on, especially amusing. "You're not exactly Playmate of the Month with them."........ March

"Lou Kelly is absolutely one of my favorite characters and I think Louise Siversen did a brilliant job with the role. I'm glad they didn't keep her as "Tammy Fisher" who died during the siege - we would have missed a lot. I particularly enjoyed her sense of humor, nasty though it was. Lou Kelly probably made me laugh out loud more than anyone else on the show. She also had a quality that made me want better for her even though she was supposed to be someone I didn't like. I always rooted for her and felt terrible for her when bad things happened. Her riot sequence is possibly my favorite storyline and I thought the actress did some terrific work during those episodes and during the "punishment" she got from Rita and company"....... jkoch

"Lou Kelly leaving the show will be hard to get over. Whether another character of such a dramatic, violent composure will take her place I'm yet to find out. She will be sorely missed"..... dvdemenna

"What I saw of Lou, she was an amazing character, whether it be her violent attitude, or her one-liners, Lou always knew what to say and do, and always kept us fans entertained"..... Shazza

"Lou was my utmost fave bad girl, she topped the likes of Marie, Reb, Margo and Frankie. It was that Bob Moran's fault, letting maggot Janet Williams into solitary to kill her. After all Bob wouldn't get his hands dirty like that. Lou was a tough cookie but snapped in her riot, the power got to her head and she was out of control. I reckon though that Lou would have bashed Janet easily which makes me wonder did Maggot Kill Kelly? She said she did in the governors office? Maybe she hoped she did. If any one had the right to kill Lou Kelly it was Lurch. We love Lou"...... Patterson, Kelly

"Lou Kelly's great, got that passion in her blood. I like it when she makes a smart comment and the others snap back at her and Lou gets worried. The look on her face is priceless".......... Riccardo Biondini

"Re: The Ballinger Siege- Lou Kelly’s macabre humour in the face of impending death is frightening, I’d say this is the second best set of episodes after the fire!" ....... Steve Hurst

"Loved the fight scene between Lexie and Lou. Oh dear, either the cell walls were not built to withstand inmates being thrown against them, or Lexie was heavy enough to make bricks and mortar bow and wobble. And with all that spiky hairgel and hairspray between them, it's a wonder someone didn't get their eye poked out during the fighting.......... March

"I did find Lou Kelly attractive. More so the times when she didn't have the big hair going, but attractive no matter what".......... jkoch

"Lou Kelly: What a bitch. Nasty bitch. But Louise Siversen really plays this role well. I like her. It was funny where she tried to shoot the door open for Lexie (Ballinger Siege) but totally fucked it up. Lou also seems like quite a complex character. You can't help but feel she's not entirely nasty (ie. Nola McKenzie) and the tough attitude is mostly a front"...... Marcus S

"I look forward to that nasty face of Lou Kelly to spar a bit with Reb!" ..........David Dixon

"Best top dog? Oh, Lou Kelly by far, no doubt about it".......... Chucky

"Best line- Lou Kelly: "It's about time we got rid of you Barnhurst lot - only a few dead-heads to go". :-) She read my mind!"........ Ann Duncan

"Slimey/Maggot (Janet) is so obviously a poor imitation of Lou Kelly that I can hardly bear to watch her. Louise Siversen was superb at playing the neurotic and obsessive Lou, but the actress playing Slimey is only marginally more convincing than the chap who plays Rodney"............. Marios Leptos

"Lou Kelly: She first appeared as a stand-in for one of the nodding background extras, but eventually rose to the height of principle baddie, with her cutting sense of humour, never ending supply of hairspray and under-used but clearly superb acting abilities from Louise Siversen. Naturally she would have her sights on the ultimate power status in Wentworth, the top dog position, but as she approved of drugs and was not a very nice person, it was of course only a short promotion. Reign: approx 17 episodes. Bark *** Bite *" ........ March

"Ahhh, nobody does it better than Lou. Funny, intense, sneaky, complicated... sort of the Wile E. Coyote of PCBH (which I mean in absolutely the best way possible). She starts out in the smallest way, but she simply will not be ignored. Lou draws attention to herself at every opportunity and we can't look away. Her character and storyline develop more fully over time until she becomes a runaway train. Our expectations grow with her and we're never disappointed (until the very end, but I don't suppose there was anything she could have done about that). Louise Siversen's performance is a shining spot in the series. She brings out all of the complexity of Kelly in a totally believable and absolutely compelling manner. There's nothing about Lou that doesn't ring true. It's truly remarkable. I've not been fortunate enough to see any of her other work (being in the US), but I can only imagine how lucky those of you have must count yourselves" .......... Jkoch

"Lou deserved a much better exit. I was disgusted"...................... Insubordination

"There’s an irony surrounding Lou Kelly's attitude towards the freak and her top dog position, she hates the freak because the freak not only has authority over the prisoners but she abuses that authority, constantly stepping on the prisoners for no reason, not taking other peoples feelings into consideration, yet when Lou Kelly gains authority as top dog and especially during the riot she does just that, hurts people, without taking their feelings into consideration, so during her reign, in a sense Lou had became the freak!" ................. Chucky

"The void left by Kelly was MASSIVE!" .................. Steve Hurst

"I agree on that, about Lou's exit being unfair, but I think she had come to the end of her usefulness, after the escape and being brought back, she was then killed in solitary. The way it was done was tasteless, and we didn't even se a scuffle with who ever killed her. I know Kelly would have put up a fight and it would have been good to see. The only way some one could have killed Kelly was to have help, as a one on one fight with Lou would have been tougher. Poor woman, I think it would have been far better to have had Lou sent to Blackmoor where she would live out her days. I bet Roo Morgan would have been delighted to have Lou on her side lol" ............... Patterson, Kelly

"What I loved most was Lou's face when Myra was looking around the room after being told to make her choice (Ballinger Siege)" ........... Helen

"That (her death) was so poor, as if the pathetic Maggot could have outfought Lou, no chance!" ........... Steve Hurst

Re: Myra choosing the next victim during the Ballinger siege- Ettie's face was like "You'll be okay dear" while big brave Lou Kelly was like "Please lord, I'll do anything... but not me" It was like a dog at bath time; Classic!!!!" .............. Db7

"I loved it how Lou yelled out "Kill the bitch!" when the Freak had been injured. For me, this was the start of Lou becoming more than just a one-dimensional character"................ Flash

"Lou's end could have been done a whole lot better. I mean we get to see the whole of Nancy Mac's story from the outside and cannot get to see Lou at the very end" ......................... XR8

"Lou Kelly’s escape in 491 was fantastic! Really unexpected as well, as she just had an unsuccessful attempt and followed it up with a successful one, but her recapture was really crap!" ..... Steve Hurst

"Unfortunately I haven’t seen the whole series (not even close) but my favourite era has to be when Lou Kelly was in it. Coz I love her!" ................ Chucky

"The day Lou Kelly died is the day I stopped watching Prisoner- there was no point to it without her" ...... Graham

"Kath and Lou would have made a formidable combo. It's a shame they didn't beg to retain Louise Siversen"...... Insubordination

"Man, she should have been transferred to Blackmoor not killed, I would have loved to see Rita meet up with her again later on!" .............. Steve Hurst

"Not sure how Lou would have lasted at Blackmoor - coz although a toughie she could be tender deep down. I think Lou would have been sucked in and ended up as Roo Morgans lackey" ....... Pete

"Way back then Bea had no reason to hate Lou. The first thing I can remember Lou doing is helping the others respond to all of Pixie's replies from her lonely hearts add. Nothing too offensive in that"....... jkoch

"The show definitely suffered without Lou" ......... Steve Hurst

"We have come to know Lou through her fantastic survival, and if there's a chance she could be free she would grab it, so why on earth didn't Lou punch the guy in the restaurant. She would have done if it was a screw like Slattery or Barfield trying to stop her"........... Patterson, Kelly

“Lou didn’t look good with shorter hair, the insane spiky look, gave her that edginess, it was very important to the character” .......... Steve Hurst

"Lou's escape where she took Joyce hostage was also very exciting stuff" .......... Tiggs

"The way that restaurant bloke has one hand on the phone and the other holding the quite tough Lou quite easily was ridiculous, why didn’t Lou just punch him?" .......... Steve Hurst

"Lou was an instant favourite of mine upon seeing the DVD episodes with her in it. Now mind you, I only seen PCBH up through the Sandy/Kate/Marie thing and it was cancelled here in America...so the DVD's were my first exposure to Myra,Lou,Alice,Lexie,Nora,Joan,Rita etc. (I still haven't seen any Nola except a few clips online) anyway, out of all of the above Characters I was most impressed with Lou, Joan and Myra. I also loved the flashback episode and how Lou praised Franky like she was her idol. I see some Franky in Lou (only Lou is a lot more evil, Franky had some heart in her) and maybe that’s why I liked Lou so much. One thing about Lou was maybe she was so evil because she spent so many years inside being abused and beaten down by other women and it made her hard as nails? I mean she spent years watching every woman have her go at top dog (Bea,Franky,Monica,Margo,Judy,Sandy,Marie,Reb,Myra,Nola etc. etc.) I think by episode 600 she was just mad by then and no way was she gonna let newbie’s like Nora and Rita get in her way. I actually did not care for Rita. I didn't want her to beat Lou. I'm weird like that though I guess. I never wanted Bea to beat Franky or Monica to beat Noeline either. Sometimes I like the nasty character to come out on top. Especially if I like the character (as I did with Franky, Noeline and Lou) yet with other baddies I enjoyed seeing them get what they deserve (i.e. Marie, Nola and Joan) go figure"........ Rburgette

" I believe Lou Kelly was so popular because her character type within the series history was quite in the unusual category...one that you could describe as extremely vicious, and yes...this is what draws me to her character...and makes me respect Louise Siversen's performance even more, because if you see or hear Louise today...she's an unbelievably beautiful woman, in and out".............. Dvdemenna

" Kelly achieved more than Nola and Marie put together, she committed 4 murders and killed an unborn baby, as well as instigating a riot and escaping twice, definitely one of the greats" ........... Steve Hurst

"As I have said in many of my posts. I love Lou Kelly, she was great and superb actress Louise Siversen, made Lou Kelly credible. Her rude one liners to rival Margo Gaffneys. Her sneaky Top Dog seeking to rival Reb Kean and her sheer nuttiness to rival Rita. I loved her, and I really did wish that Lou and Margo met and worked together. They would have took over that prison long ago I reckon" ....... Patterson, Kelly

"Anyone who knows me will know I favour EVIL and Lou was right at the top of the tree with such luminaries as Craven, Stewart and Ferguson. I definitely favour the baddies; they make the show what it is in my opinion" ......... Steve Hurst

"Lou Kelly’s escape in 491, yeah it sure was fantastic and really unexpected the only thing that I didn’t like about it was that she didn’t hit Phil Cleary enough times with the baseball bat and I also loved her successful escape when she took Joyce hostage as for her recapture it was crap it would have been better if she had gotten away from the guy in the restaurant and then been chased by the cops before finally been caught" .......... Wentworth 1979-1986

"I don't think Lou cared about anyone except herself" ......... Tiggs

"Lou has a few compassionate moments - but I emphasise few! Anita Selby is one, a small time once for Daffy Graham, one with Lurch (but just to get her onside!) - can’t think of any more!" .......... Pete

"Lou Kelly should have stayed longer, although I thought the pacing on her story was, overall, quite good. She's one of my favourites though so I'd have enjoyed any more time with her"................ jkoch

"Lou was pretty much totally selfish, the only time we ever see her vulnerable is that scene where her and Selby talk, they seem to have a little understanding briefly. Also during the siege when Myra died, although Lou was mouthing off about it, deep down you could tell she thought Myra was damn brave too. Best Lou Riot episode is 600 - Easy, 601 is over before the first segment is up, whereas the last half hour of 600 is pure riot heaven, with another magnificent cliff-hanger and a Lou performance to die for!" .......... Steve Hurst

"Lou Kelly should have stayed longer for sure. She was a great character and made things interesting while she was top dog. I would have loved to have seen what other stuff she would have got up to" ......... cRyPToRcHiLD666

"Frank and Lou. GREAT stuff!" ..... Steve Hurst

"I thought her death was a real let down...you didn't even get to see her get killed...just her body on the floor, as I say a real let down. I liked all of Lou's scenes though...mainly because her wise cracks at the others...always made me giggle!" ......... cRyPToRcHiLD666

"Frankly, I think Lou was made more interesting in the time she spent with Anita than in the time she spent with Alice... which isn't to say that it wasn't entertaining to watch Lou and Alice together, it's just that I don't think it necessarily had to be Alice -- Lou and anyone or even Lou on her own would have been fun to watch (as an aside, I certainly don't think Lou was stupid, but I'd say she was much more cunning than "smart")" ........ jkoch

"Seeing Lou getting bashed is great; it fuels her next attempt at vengeance! I didn’t like it when they humiliated Lou i.e. threw her in the dryer or the fake hanging, Lou would have no complaints after a sound bashing" ...... Steve Hurst

"Lou was pretty smart!!!" ...... Lexie P

"I watched episode 603 and 604 last night and I think that the scene where the women are dragging Lou and Alice to there cells where they were going to hang them has to be the best Lou and Alice scene ever. The incidental music the way that Lou saw the women holding Alice with a noose around her, the way that Lexie says "I want to see her swing" and finally the way that the noose snaps has to make this scene the best Lou and Alice scene ever- what does everyone else think????" ......... wentworth 1979-1986

"I will concede that Lou can make any partnership work, but I feel her episodes with Alice as offside were outstanding especially the build up to the riot. Lou and Alice come on people they were clearly the most enjoyable pairing!" ...... Steve Hurst

"Lou, Lou, we love you!!!" ....... Terry

"LOU KELLY - Just pure evil. Could Lou be the most evil character of all? Very funny at times to. Unforgettable when she starts that riot and kills the phantom lagger. ACTRESSES PERFORMANCE - 10/10!" ........ Kath Maxwell

"Lou Kelly: Funny and evil! That hair, and that snarl on her face always cracked me up" ........ Rokku

"Lou Kelly - After writing Reb out of the series, nobody could have possibly expected Lou to not only take over Reb's operation, but to make it thrive, Lou suddenly found the guts to take on Myra, and to survive her, Lou's cockiness and smart remarks, made her the best enemy a top dog had had since Nola, Marie and Margo's day's, but she bettered all 3 of those with sheer psychosis, her riot in 600 was her tour de force, and cemented her place as one of the greats" ..... Steve Hurst

"LOU KELLY - One of the best 'baddies' on Prisoner. She really helped the show through a bad time too" .......... Tiggs

"Daphne was another good example of a character misused. There is one scene where her plants have been destroyed and Kelly almost comforts her, only for some bugger to come in and ruin Kelly's character development! Wasted chance there I think. I mean sure Kelly was a complete cow, but as the writers did with Kath it would have been interesting for her to show another side, the actress was capable that was for sure. The odd exchange with Daphne could have been perfect for this purpose. More about Kelly, I really feel she should not have been killed in solitary, she should have been pregnant with Alice's brother’s baby, that way the women would have to lay off her and then we could have seen the nicer side come out" ......... Rokku

" I love Lou being the way she is!!! And nice would just not cut it. It just wouldn’t seem right if you know what I mean" .... lexie p

"Lou was good a being one thing and one thing only and that was being a real bitch with littlie or no feelings for people except her self the only time she was nice to someone was when that bitch Ferguson killed poor Daphne’s plants during the cell search" ...... wentworth 1979-1986

"I agree that Lou must have had another side as well. I just think she kept it well hidden as she was afraid of her nicer side coming out. Deep down I think she was a very mixed up girl. She did nearly let her nice side slip out with Anita Selby once but nothing came of it and the producers obviously decided to explore it no further" ...... Tiggs

"She was also slightly shaken at Myra’s death although she would try to appear so" ...... Steve Hurst

"Yes, that pregnancy storyline would've been fab!!!" ........ Insubordination

"Lou Kelly, mean, wicked, spiteful, but some inner self begs you to like her as there has to be something there, it could be caring" ....... Patterson, kelly

"I wanted to see Kelly open up a bit. Not in a Meg Morris sort of way, but in a Ferguson/Kath sort of way" ..... Rokku

"LOU KELLY: Her tumbling mental state leading up to the riot was fantastically played and great to watch - her character seemed constant all the time - very well written too" .......... Pete

"Lou Kelly Rules - JUST ACCEPT IT!" ............ Steve Hurst

"Lou Kelly should have stayed top dog longer!" ..... Lee

"LOU KELLY - Beginning as a background prisoner in mid 1984, she soon steals the show and along with Myra and the freak, is one of the best characters in the later episodes. I really liked her performances with her crony Alice "lurch" Jenkins and her riot in 1986 is absolutely brilliant!" ....... Bea Smith

"Lou- not only was she nasty she was bloody funny too...I love those wise cracks!" ...... cRyPToRcHiLD666

"Lou was pretty insane from just before the riot onward!" .......... Jock Stewart

" Lou had been a bit off since just before her riot, but rather than not being able to distinguish between what was legally right and wrong, I think she just realized that she had absolutely nothing left to lose and no reason to care at all anymore. I consider it a huge pity that we never got to know Lou (or anything about her) pre-Wentworth. I know this is a result of her character's shift from extradom to leading, but it's still a shame. Part of what we're missing is that we never know if Lou was ever particularly civilized. We know that she has to appear to be to some extent because she isn't physically strong enough to challenge women like Bea and Myra. She manages to bide her time until there's no one who can or will get in her way. She does make attempts on Myra and Joan, but usually not directly and, clearly, not successfully. Her few attempts to connect with other people don't work out any better (see Daphne & Sr Anita). I'm not sure if she fails because she doesn't really want to or if she's just incapable.Lou Kelly might just be a true sociopath. I don't know if she's really immoral or just completely amoral. I think the wildness that shows through during her riot (as the tension shatters her veneer of control) may be the closest we get to her central essence. Once her feral qualities are out, she can't really get them hidden again. By the time she gets to the Jenkins' farm she's a hunted, wounded animal. Sean hurts her more; Ma intends to turn her over to the hunters (I think this is known as making a bad situation worse). It doesn't surprise me that Lou responds the way she does. I'm sure the blood poisoning doesn't help their chances, but I think it's Lou's nature to act the way she does. I suspect that they were doomed from the moment it came into Lou's head that the farm was where she should go to hide. Even if they had been nothing but helpful to her, I don't know that I believe she would have left people who could have given her away alive" ........ jkoch

"I wouldn't call Lou a bitch because her remarks were just plain nasty half the time and her actions were just evil at times dispite her motivations, past etc. Yeah she was insane at the end as well. Not a bitch though for me" .......... Rokku

"The best thing about that episode (490) was when Lou whacked Phillip with the baseball bat. It’s just a shame that she didn’t whack him a few more times and finish him off for good and then go after Marlene!" ........ wentworth 1979-1986

"I think Lou Kelly in episode 491 is awesome!" ......... Steve Hurst

"I love Lou Kelly, one of the all-time greats, but her early episodes (I'm thinking before the escape attempts using baseball bats/Joyce as hostage) were a bit difficult to watch in retrospect given how much the character changed. She's just not the same without a tub of hair gel on top" ..................... marlene's curls

"Lou Kelly;- Everyone loves an escalating manic-psycho. Starting off as she did bullying Hannah Geldschmidt and supplying arms to Bev Baker, she really developed over the years. Her efforts to kill Myra and Joan - electrifying Myra's door, garrotting her with a guitar string and trying to shoot Joan with Frank Burke's zip gun made for great viewing! And she killed Lurch's family too - give the girl a cigar!" ...................... Hasdrubal

"Most people regard Lou as something of a legend, which is exactly what she is. I loved each every scene in which she appeared, a fun character in with all those bores, how can you go wrong?! Lou Kelly was a goddess, she took the most putrid era of the show and lit it up with vitality, her spell as top dog was one of the most memorable, and her acting was high class!" ............... Steve Hurst

"Geez how can anyone dislike Lou Kelly in her prime?" ................ Rokku

"Lou Kelly may have been a rubbish Top Dog, but her spell in the position made for some of the most gripping episodes of the series and the lady herself was one of the best characters of the series" ............... marlene's curls

"In a way, it would have been nice to see Lou Kelly soften out a bit, not too much and take over as top dog in a similar fashion. I think Lou could have been a great top dog given the chance to do it long term. She still would have sneared and slapped people about, but like Bea, maybe she could have favoured her select friends" .......... Rokku

"Lou was a bit of a coward at times, but after Myra's death she began to grow stronger and after Nora's departure she had the strength to take over, after the riot failed, it was all lost again. Lou was calculating and she didnt care how far she went, she certainly killed more people than anyone else!" ..................... Steve Hurst

"Lou Kelly appeals to me for the fact that she never gives up..not even after the 600-601 siege and killing Lurch's mother and brother, she fought on and on up to her death. All those times she fights to get to top dog spot but is shoved by Myra then Nora and to finally see her shine, even for a few weeks, I was glad she got to where she was (even though deep down I knew she wouldn't last for long). Her adage of 'I fought for it...and I won it' was a great overall impression of this character" .............. dvdemenna

"I neither respected nor looked up to Lou, but I did love watching her. I was always grinning at Lou's schemes and laughing at her one-liners. She was the character who gave me the most entertainment over the duration of the show. I don't see her in any way inferior to Myra except morally. I guess the reason I like Reb, Lou, and to a lesser extent Maxwell, is that they had no desire to be accepted by the in-crowd. Stickin' it to the top dog is like stickin' it to the man. I feel Lou saved the post-Myra period. I guess some people have a preference for the antagonists and I'm one of them" ........ Insubordination

"Listen, you only have to look at Lou and Nora in the same scene together to see that physically Kelly could rip Nora several new assholes if she wanted to!" .............. Rokku

"Lou Kelly snuck up on me just like she snuck up on everyone else. She's one of the few characters who were featured that we didn't have pre-conceived notions about. We didn't see her at all before prison so we didn't have any thoughts about what she may or may not have done and we didn't have any way of anticipating her reactions to things or guessing her plans. Lou was full of surprises and I love her for that. I was never, ever bored by her character. In fact, when I'm re-watching the series, I get a bit excited when I realize I'm coming up her featured episodes. For as completely unbalanced as she could be, she was also balanced in some excellent ways - she might back down or fight, bide her time or make her move, be brutal or fairly decent - she could be softer without being syrupy and without letting us forget for a moment that she could instantly shut that down. I don't know that Lou necessarily had the best storylines ever, but she certainly had some excellent twists and turns and somehow I always wanted things to work out better for her. I thought her exit was a complete let-down (I really think she should have been much more a 'go out with a bang' character), but I think she's one of the only characters whose stay on the show was just about of exactly the right length and on the whole I've got no complaints. As an added bonus, I think we got one of the best performances of the show from Louise Siversen who so completely brought this character to life. She thoroughly sells me with what I consider to be an absolutely brilliant portrayal of an individual who I probably shouldn't even like, but undoubtedly do because of the masterful way in which she was presented. Phenomenally well done! I find the characters I like best are the ones that are most convincing and Louise did a tremendous job of bringing Lou to life" ........... jkoch

"I wanted more Kelly, she should have got pregnant and got Lurch off of Sam Greenways murder and turned a little nicer and ended up a good top dog" ..................... Rokku

"Her character of Lou Kelly was excellently portrayed and there was never a dull moment when Lou was around!" ..... David

"The only good thing in the show at the minute is Lou Kelly as top dog, in the space of 40 episodes, she has gone from mindless extra to top dog, with outfit and hairdo changes to boot! Shame she wasn't rounded out more to be a Smith type top dog!" ............. Rokku

"Frankly, the only thing that kept the series breathing (post Bobbie Mitchell) was the Burke and Lou schemes".......... Insubordination

"The bitch I liked the most is Lou Kelly. She was a really good character and there were great stories around her" ..... ofa28

"I thought she (Lou Kelly) was excellent and Louise Siversen is an awesome actress! There are several Kelly scenes that I especially liked (the more gripping ones particularly) but I liked her 'human' scenes quite a lot - her 'friendship' with Daphne - to me it was so obvious that she grew really fond of her but she was afraid to show her emotions to anyone; her relationship with Anita is one of my favourite parts of the series; her 'hanging' was heart-wrenching" ......... Mark Moorhead

"I think Lou stayed about the right length of time. Left me wanting more. There certainly was a gaping hole after she left".............. Insubordination

"Lou Kelly- there is a character that goes through a big change. At the beginning I thought that Lou was a real wimp
she was just floating around the place picking on everyone for no particular reason, but this character really exploded and when Louise Siversen got more space to act out her part she really did so. Lou quickly transformed from a little stupid bugger to one of the best baddies in the series, so I ended up liking Lou very much. The only thing that bothers me with Lou is the way she always has her hand behind her back.. looks strange I think!" .......... ofa28

"I voted for Lou (as "best bitch") as let’s face it she was around much longer then the others and was definitely a bitch to most people. I don't believe being an evil character makes you a bitch, it’s more about their personality than their actions.
Lou was a real bitch to everyone. It was just the way she was. Even when being nice, she was still a bitch"............. kda

"The thing that’s most striking with Lou Kelly must be the way she gets tougher and harder as time goes. In the beginning Lou was a character that was in the background, hardly making any noise at all. When Lou’s part became bigger, she becomes what I would call a troublemaker who was glad to stir. Always back-chatting someone or coming up with smartass remarks,
making everyone annoyed with her. Lou was still quite harmless here though I think. Then she was involved with the stupid cockroach races, taking bets and cheating in all sort of games, trying to intimidate the others, but I can’t help think that she was beaten up a lot by just about anyone at this time (Lets face it Lou was thumped a lot!) Later on, Lou gets tougher and with a bit of help from her mob, she becomes quite dangerous. Realising that some of the women were actually afraid of her seemed to make her stronger and more cruel. Constantly, she is denied the position as top dog that she so desperately wants, but she still tries and tries- and fails and fails. This is when Lou is at her best I think, when she is desperate and dangerous and at the end of Lou Kelly’s era she is losing it completely and she doesn’t think twice about killing in cold blood (Aww gotta love her!!) I wonder what would have happened to Lou if she had not been killed? Would she have calmed down, or got worse (if that’s possible!) Maybe she would have gone crazy- as I said she was losing it" ............ ofa28

"Lou Kelly was one of the most unstable, dangerous characters ever to grace the blood soaked walls of Wentworth. I really do feel that she was the best evil top dog during the show. I have said this before but the riot she starts still scares me even today. The way her character was made to look with the hair and evil grin, just sends a cold shiver down my spine. She wasn't scared of anyone which made her all the more dangerous"................. mackiedoodle

"Her dry one-liners and sarcastic put downs of people were also a joy. I loved her line to Daphne Graham "you only drink tea at night-AM coffee and PM Tea!" She was an excellent character and always watchable. I missed her when she left however I am glad she didn't stay on in the series to become boring and stale".............. Lexie

"I initially hated Lou because she was such an irritating bitch, but I have since grown to really like her character for those reasons - she often inspired very interesting and gripping stories and was one of two (the other being Lurch) characters worth watching post-Myra and pre-Rita" .............. Ethan Tyler

"Lou's probably my favourite prisoner- a bitch of a thing, but so memorable. Scary as hell, but as has been said before, her one liners were a hoot sometimes. She's certainly in my top 5 Prisoners, probably top 2 really. She was a definite rough nut, but you couldn't help but love to hate her at least. And that HAIR... GAWD!" ............... Wandaful

"I loved Lou as a character. She definitely got good one liners"............ Reno76

"I've just been watching an episode of Prisoner in the late 400's. It was the episode when Lou Kelly was bought back to Wentworth after her escape where she broke out during a softball game. The scene when she came back and Joyce inducts her is classic stuff! The lines Louise says and the way she says them are brilliant. Louise is so brilliant at adding sarcasm to the character and I thought it was so funny, especially watching how scared Joyce looks. One line from Lou I thought was particularly funny was this one: Joyce: Your name is Louise Kelly? Lou: Nah I'm 'er twin sister! He he!!" ................... Michelle

"Lou: I used to loathe her and, whilst I do still find her annoying at times (she's a total bitch!), she is often part of some of the best stories, such as riots, attempted break-outs and even murders. Plus, she and Lurch are the only two decent characters during the late 500s. My favourite Lou moments are probably:
- When she plans to break out with a gun (as well as settling some old scores);
- When she tries to break-out with a baseball bat;
- Her riot in 600-1;
- When she takes Joyce hostage; and
- When she was on the run (610s, I think)" ...................... Ethan Tyler

"Lou- she was cool!" ................. Scottyy
