About Me

My name is Donna Marie Ward and I live in London, England. I was born in South London on October 18th 1981, which makes me 24 years old and I'm a musical theatre actress.

For 4 years I attended The BRIT Performing Arts School in London, specialising in musical theatre and dance. I have been performing since the age of 4, starting out studying piano and dance, then drama before going onto classical singing and appearing in numerous shows all over England.

In 2002, I completed a further two years at drama school specialising in acting for TV and theatre and voice and movement and really enjoyed the experience. Since then, I have also studied regularly at London's Pineapple Studios and The Actor's Centre.

I now do a variety of performance work in television, film, theatre and dance, modelling and have also done some radio plays, voiceover work and pop videos in the past year.

I teach dance part time, mostly tap, jazz and ballet and also do various backing dance and singing jobs in London nightclubs with up and coming and established acts on the club scene. When in between acting jobs- you'll also find me behind various bars etc, as most out of work actors do at some point in their careers!!

In 2003, I created the role of "Marlene" in the new musical "The East End of Chicago” in London's West End, and was also the dance captain/assistant choreographer, which was a great experience. After that, in 2004, I filmed a part in a feature film, which was great fun and recently premiered, to critical acclaim, at the London, New York and Berlin Film Festivals. At the beginning of 2005, I performed in a one off gala- a tribute to musicial theatre- at the infamous Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, then I filmed a drama for ITV and currently, have just completed a run in the ensemble of "La Traviata"- my first opera role!

Animals are a huge part of my life and I'm at my happiest when spending time with furry creatures! Sadly, my beloved Shih Tzu dog "Pippin" was peacefully put to rest on March 11th, 2005 aged almost 16, but I still have my adorable tortoiseshell cat, "Anne", who I adopted from a rescue shelter in November 2003. I am a volunteer for various animal charity organisations- in particular "The Cats Protection League", "The Dog's Trust" and "The Southern Shih Tzu Rescue".

When I'm not busy with my performance work or my animals, I enjoy socialising, pubbing and clubbing with friends, going to the theatre and cinema, listening to music and collecting CD's (Mostly by the German artist Ute Lemper who is my all time favourite, I can't sing her praises enough, but I love all sorts especially anything from the 80's! ) and DVD's, practising yoga and keeping fit with aerobics and kickboxing, comedy TV shows like "The League of Gentlemen" and "Little Britain", reading glossy magazines, sleeping, shopping for clothes and make up (BIG time!), watching Louise Siversen programmes (of course!) and travelling too, when I can afford it!
