The New Age: Change in focus.
The New Age become more aware in the "Age of Aquarius" (this millenium) from the mid-1960s, with a wonderfull opening up of America. Worthwhile social movements gained momentum in many areas: seeking peace instead of war; the women's movement for personal freedom; civil rights for minorities; enviromental protection; opening up government process to all people; psychological self analysis; and spiritual awakening.
All of these movements have tried to benefit our grobe and its citizens in some way or another with many people having sincerely searched for and found spiritual awakening, with this aspect of true spiritual growth continuing with great potential. However within the last 30 years in the general culture there has been a major shift in the focus of the movement as a new generation has come along. The shift among others is away from the movements initial fundamental principles founded in moral and spiritual enlightenment, and toward a "over-kill" mentality more interested in self gratification and fulfillment.
