| We really have had a great time at four concerts. It was a real must for us to come across from Germany. | ||||||||||||||||
| Having arrived in Hull by ferry, we went straight ahead to Leicester, found a nice hotel not far away from "The Musician"so we could walk to the venue in the evening. We were enjoying so much to meet with Jacky, Derek, Michelle, and Rob in the street. We were seeing good friends again, that made us very happy. | ||||||||||||||||
| Standing outside the tour bus arrived, and we could welcome the guys who were coming out one after the other. Then, we entered "The Musician" together, and we could see and hear the band doing their sound check. Is a small and intimate venue with only a few rows of chairs and a few small tables. Behind the seated area, all the people could do was stand. We had a nice place near by the stage. | ||||||||||||||||
| Of course, we had a look at their merchandise: there were beautiful T-Shirts and CDs available, we had the chance to buy some of them. One of the T-Shirts was designed by Robert, sporting the portraits of Kevin, Robert, Paul and Pat. Later they all even put their autograph on it, we think it's really a great souvenir for us. | ||||||||||||||||
| Jeff Finlin started the show, performing with his amazing voice his wonderful and brilliant songs from his albums "Original Fin" and "Highway Diaries", sometimes accompanied by the famous Pat Buchanan of the Idle Jets. They got storms of applause from the very beginning. We enjoyed so much all the songs we knew well because we listened to the CDs already many times before. Was really a great thing to hear them live: Love and Happiness/West of Rome/The Perfect Mark of Cain/She's a Mama Now/Waiting on a Flood/June/Weight of the Flame/ Napoleon, Josephine and Me. The first time we heard Jeff playing the Train Song, probably a new song from his unreleased new album. | ||||||||||||||||
| After a little break, Kevin Montgomery, Robert Reynolds, Paul Deakin and Pat Buchanan entered the stage, and with "Another Long Story", they began a wonderful show with all the fantastic songs from Kevin's pure delight album, and some more later. That was quite an experience for us to hear all these songs we all knew live on stage: Another Long Story/Let's Go All to California/Visions of White/I Wish I Were Blind/At Our Best. For the absolutely touching songs Angel Tonight and Broken was Kevin assisted by Pat. Then followed the emotive songs Stumbled/Your Kind of Love and the very nice song Melrose. We also heard Tennessee Girl, a new song for the planned album and the beautiful song Wishing which was written by Kevin's father together with Buddy Holly. | ||||||||||||||||
| Kevin's tremendous and soulful voice together with the brilliant playing of Robert, Paul, and Pat gave us an idea of what happens when nice and talented guys give their best. We heard also Pat with an Idle Jet song called "Genius of the Obvious" and one more. Wonderful songs, we liked them very much. He is really great, a fantastic guitar player, and he seems he was born with it. | ||||||||||||||||
| Robert was doing very rocking songs: one Gin Blossoms song called Cajun Song and American Girl/Not Fade Away/Who Do You Love. We heard him singing this way the first time, and we can say that we were really enjoying his songs. He is not only a famous bass guitar player but a wonderful singer too. | ||||||||||||||||
| Glad to see that our favorite drummer Paul was looking so fit, he played magnificently and he seemed to enjoy himself as well as the others. Also Jeff came out again doing with the band Sunday's Forgiven and Come on Annie and also some nice tambourine work. The band was so relaxed, had so a lot of fun together with the cheering audience who were clapping their hands enthusiastically, and everybody had a smile in his face. | ||||||||||||||||
| The show finished with the fantastic song Fear Nothing, the crowd was singing along with it, a very special moment. Afterwards, the guys were hanging around for talking with the fans. They were all so nice and friendly, we have had such a lot of fun together. Wow... What a night! Around 1.00 am, we went toward our hotel with the feeling that we have had the | ||||||||||||||||
| night of the nights, and we have to thank the guys for that. It was great to know that we would see them again in Nottingham. | ||||||||||||||||
