The Mobil station next to McDonalds is the standard Mobil installation.  The high intensity Metal Halide lamps are not recessed into the canopy and there is no "skirt" around the outside of the canopy to help reduce the glare.  I took measurements with my light meter and found a maximum of 32.9 footcandles and a minimum of 19.7 footcandles.  I estimate an average illumination of 24 to 26 footcandles.  This is 2.5 times the 10 footcandles recommended by the Illumination Engineering Society of North America (IESNA).  While this measurement is not unusual, the lack of glare control makes this a poor example of efficient service station lighting.
