Colson: If any of you have the Tursday "Five Stories Falling " EP the you might have read the story for their song Jet Black New Year.The band tells that it came about out as a display of the frustration, anger,and tension between the band members at the time of its conception. Well this is kind of our "Jet Black New Year".It was never really written it just came out of us all being tired and angry at the end of practice one afternoon. I was pissed for some reason(probably because im just and erratic, moody, baby, pissant) and just started playing the main riff, something I just made up on the spot, Thom picked dit up and when he started playing it I yelled at Bryan to play something and he played a basic back beat and slowly through all that noise our anger cooled off. The song rested until about two weeks later at practice when I came up with the chorus pattern and went under many lyrical sugeries until I came up with these, its pretty much an ode to a girl in my life. Despite the story of the anger involved in the creation of the music, the lyrics are rather... um... happy... |
