The real story behind the recent pro-Bush rallies Hundreds of Pro-Bush rallies
across the country last Saturday can be attributed to one source: a website
named LoudCitizen.com. Okay, so maybe the website owner, Kevin Conner, did
not coordinate each individual rally, but at the least he was the brainchild
behind a good number of them. Conner, a 23-year-old computer programmer from
Jacskonville, FL, came up with the idea of a Conservative rally clearinghouse
site in the early morning hours of November 11th. The idea came after watching,
"Democrat protestors practically running the evening news." News of his site
quickly spread through the Internet as netizens started emailing each other
about the site. Conner soon found he was not alone in his frustrations with
the perceived unethical actions by Democrats.
As of yesterday, LoudCitizen.com has received over 1 million hits and has had over 150,000 unique visitors in its three weeks of existence. You maybe asking, "Do people really show up at these rallies?" Numbers of participants range from a bold few (8) in Gillette, Wyoming to a whopping 3,000 in Pensacola, FL and 5,000 in both Sacramento, CA and Reno, NV. Accounts and pictures can be found on Conner's website.
On a larger scale, the site seems to be a major catalyst in a nationwide movement some are terming the "rebirth of the Republican party". After all, when is the last time you saw a 30-year-old lawyer holding a protest sign on a street corner? If you missed this spectacle last Saturday, keep your eyes open this Saturday as you're still likely to catch a glimpse of that same attorney.
