Pictures from the Morikami Museum

The Morikami Museum, located in Delray Beach, boasts an impressive landscape. On Sunday, 26 August, I took my camera and several new lenses out to take pictures of the Japanese gardens, lake, and features of this park. With 168 pictures of the grounds taken, it will be some time before I have catalogued and posted them all.

The first view of the grounds
Emerging from the gallery, one finds oneself at the top of the steps leading down to the lakeside garden walk. Directly across is the Challenger Memorial, dedicated to Col Ellison Shoji Onizuka and his crewmates. The sound of running water, however, leads one to ...

Turbulent waters
The water flows through a series of channels, each one lined with rocks to increase the turbulence. The overall effect is quite pleasant.

Across the lake
A short walk from the waterfall leads one around the lake, where a spectacular view of the gallery and offices can be had.

Stone bridges
The garden paths follow the edge of the lake. The bonsai garden and Japanese musuem can be found at the center, reached by a graceful stone bridge.

The traditional Japanese home
Crossing the stone bridge leads one to the museum's traditional Japanese home.

Memorial w/ bird
Japanese memorials such as this one can be found along the garden paths. Look closely to the right of the memorial and you'll be able to see its solitary guardian.

The Challenger Memorial has an honored position, standing beside the lake and next to the museum's centerpiece.
