| Hi! My name is Katie Hirschman (formally Nowitzke) and I live in Michigan. While I have raised rabbits for about 15 years now, I have only had the hollands since May 2003! I also raise Californians and New Zealand Whites and have done very well in both of those breeds, but my favorites are the hollands. I am a graduate of Michigan State University...GO SPARTANS!! I currently work at the MSU Diagnostic Center for Animal Population and Health as a lab tech and enjoy working with animals. I maintain a 40 hole rabbitry in Ovid, consisting of holland lops. I have raised tons of different breeds in the last 20 years, but the hollands are my favorite. I have brought in a few different lines, trying to fit the many pieces together to create my own line of Holland Lops. Nothing would be complete without mentioning my good friends Kristi Rogers and Heidi Brown, whom I have constantly bought, traded and sold stock to and from, etc. I love these girls and wish I was closer to Ohio to see them more often. I would not be where I am today without them! And who can forget my best friend, Courtney, who goes with me to rabbits shows and brings along some dwarfs! I am excited to have a new "travel" buddy. Courtney also helps me out in the barn and is my "second" opinion b/c I trust her as much as I trust my self when picking out culls and keeps! Lastly, I would like to thank my mom for always taking me to shows when I was younger, my dad and brother for taking care of the rabbit chores while I was in college, and my friends for always being there; especially my husband, Pete, he truely is the best. He is always willing to do chores whenever I ask and always goes to shows if I need someone to go with me. And the best part, he is willing to learn what this crazy hobbie is all about!!!!
