Lamp of the Universe - Heru CD $25NZ
Over an hour of uninterrupted sonic bliss, constructed in Hamilton, New Zealand, though the places it describes and evokes along the way are not on any known maps. Indian drone, ethereal wordless spirit vocals, sighing sitars brush the surface of the lake, the water is deep and wide but so clear you can see to the bottom hundreds of feet below. Great distance and moody majesty; at around the fifth track it sounds like Popol Vuh on some sort of godlike visionary sedatives. One man sonic universe or lamp thereof Craig Williamson employs: electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, tablas, choir-like layers of voice, sitar, bowed guitar & sitar, tamboura, tapes, rain pipe, effects, and keyboards to weave the single piece that is Heru. Though it is discreetly divided into seven tracks (Heru parts 1-7) , they all flow into one another so as not to interupt the dream or the dreamer. Orginally released on a limited CDR by Barlfire recordings in 2005, now availible once again on factory pressed CD!!!

Datura - Visions for the Celestial CD $25NZ
Re-issue of Daturas' second album orginally released in '99 by the defunked Cranium Music label. Now out on Craig Williamsons' "Astral Projection" label with one bonus track not on the orginal.
Visions For The Celestial puts the 3 piece Datura 'out there' with the very best of what is coming out in the aptly named "stoner rock" genre. Any comparisons with the likes of Kyuss, Monster Magnet etc are laid to rest with 'Visions' as the band carve out their own style. The track 'Sunshine In Purple' adds Hammond keyboards & Indian pot drum to the crushing bass riffs, rock steady drumming and in yer face fuzzed out distorted guitar. The track 'Euphoria' has all the class of being one of the all time great acid groove tracks, while cosmic flute is added to the track 'Voyage'. But the opus track of this album is the nearly 15 minute 'Mantra' which has guest musicians on textured flute & clarinet, finger cymbals, shakers & tambourine. This is a cosmic stoner groove bliss-out at its very best. Visions For The Celestial is a journey that has a natural flow & growth to it as it develops from bass heavy stoner grooves to cosmic bliss out and if you reach for the replay button on reaching the end go with the flow and do it.

Datura - All Is One CD $25NZ
Reissue of Datura's first album orginally released on Cranium Music in 1998. Eight tracks with a strong groove and loud guitar well to the fore, particularly on "Lost in Time" where it twists and turns like the very best Monster Magnet. The pace is frantic but totally together with plenty of early 70's references. "Journey thru' space" is a killer heavy psych workout which then seems to be eclipsed by "Phazer" which brings a new dimension to modern stoner music. It's very 70's, very much a modern version of the space rock sound with excellent vocals and lots of retro effects! I've never heard anything so genuinely 70's on a stoner album before, it's hard to believe that this it from 1998 and not 1972! Also look out for the hidden track after "Mountain" very trippy!!! and the BONUS track "Happiness Grows" from 1993 which is also excellent!

Lamp of the Universe - From the Mystic Rays of Astrological Light CD  $25NZ
Released in 2006. Featuring four long instrumentals, stretched over 53 minutes, this album is the perfect follow-up to previous album Heru, an album that was soaked in a lysergic eastern vibe making for some excellent late-night meditations. On this release the raga-esque feel is replaced by deep inner space drones, tempered by the swirl of analogue synths, echoed percussion and chanted voices that add warmth to the sound. All this is very evident on Sun Ritual a track that lives up to the promise of its title, full of mystical wonder and grace.
Track two Gateway To The Path Of Nirvana opens with a cloud of synths before what sounds like a piped instrument breaks through the clouds, a beguiling bass riff adding an earthiness to the music as a truly psychedelic guitar begins to weave it snake-charmer magic across your synapses. Once the drums begin, there is no turning back, the only option is to lie back and enjoy the trip, a mesmerising journey that will delight the senses and fill your mind with fantastic images and strange longings.
On Vortex Of Light, a pulsing drum ensures that the listener does not get lost in the abstract swirl of drones, the music seeming to create a vortex of sound that moves ever upwards, rising in intensity, the sound of a sapling searching for the sun.
Final track Anandamaya Transcends and summarises what has gone before, the guitar shimmering in a haze of white light, the final layer peeled away to reveal your true divine self.
On this album Craig Williamson may have created his masterpiece, the album exploring the ancient search for hidden meaning, trying to find our rightful place in the universe. This is cosmic music of the highest order and needs concentrated listening before all its secrets are revealed.

Lamp of the Universe - Echo in Light CD  $25NZ
Lamp of The Universe is a cosmic hippy acid folk/psychedelic one-man project of Craig Williamson (known also from the heavy/stoner rock band Datura). This fellow plays all the instruments also on this second release by L. O. T. U. This album has gained a lot of good response from the psychedelic underground, and I can clearly see why. There's a lot of emotion and even transcendental message of love in the home-recorded songs of Mr. Williamson.
You might get the picture of what's going on just looking at the track titles. The acoustic "Freedom to Godliness" starts the album with its celestial, tranquil way. Really beautiful vocals on this one. "Resonance" continues on the same line, but this time we also get to hear some sitar.
There's a bit rockier edge to the next one, "Our Celestial Flow" with drums, electric guitars and organs. Rather 60's oriented, groovy track. "Love" is a beautiful and mellow song, where acoustic guitar, tender percussions and flute-like keyboards play an important role. "Pyramids of Sun" is also a very beautiful and cosmic with its acoustic rhythm guitar and vocals. There'
s some nice sitar at the end, as well. The last track "Dream Sequence" is almost 17 minutes of ultra floating instrumental head jam. Lots of keyboards, effects, cymbals, guitar solos, percussions and so on. Here we can almost reach the spiritual dimensions! It's an excellent ending for the album.
The album sounds a lot like it was recorded in the early 70's. There are some similarities with the cosmic German bands and British folk bands of that era. There's a lot of echo all around the album. This is very suitable stuff for meditation or tripping. Sitar and tablas give a nice Indian
flavour. Echo In Light is very pleasant, psychedelic and interesting music that I can recommend to anyone into self-exploration and good music.

Saturnia - The Glitter Odd CD  $25NZ
Saturnia are Luis Simoes & Francisco Rebelo and they create beautiful psychedelic & ambient melodies that continue to swim around in your head long after you have finished listening to their music. On 'The Glitter Odd' (their debut release for the Cranium Music label) the duo sound more like a full band with imaginative use of a wide range of instruments. Simply amazing stuff!!!
