| What is an energy rod and what does it look like? The basic rod is a hollow copper tube with a copper cap at one end and a quartz crystal at the other end. My rod has one quartz crystal and at the other end is a vogel quartz crystal. The outer covering is leather (provides insulation) and is wrapped in a spiral. Many people feel an instant intuitive familiarity with these energy rods and I was one. You can easily build your own. |

| Instructions for making your own rod... Only a few handtools are needed a hacksaw (or the hardware store willl cut the copper to the desired length. a pair of plyers (for bending the end of the tube to fit the crystal a tube of instant bonding glue (for gluing the crystal and leather to the tube) a pair of scissors (for cutting the leather) 12" copper pipe 3/4" in diameter (available at most hardware stores) if you choose to cap one end you will need a copper cap 3/4" for the one end leather strip 1/2" wide, 3 ' in length (any color will do, although they say black is a good colour for combat rods and blue, green or red are good for healing rods. quartz crystal 3/4" to 1" in diameter, 2-3 inches in length. The crystal should have as clear a tip as possible, with unchipped facets. Now putting it together... If the copper tube is not precut use the hacksaw to cut it. Put the copper cap on one end to make sure it fits easily, remove the cap and put a few drops of glue around the inside. Place the cap back on the copper tube adn press it down as far as it will go. Do this quickly, this glue dries fast. Prepare the tube fo rmounting the crystal by cutting four slots in it lengthwise. One cut with the hacksaw makes two slots at a time, about 2 1/2" long. Slots are cut lengthwise at the end for the crystal with the slots cut, there are four sectionx that can be bent outward for the crystal to slide into the tube with only an inch of clear tip protruding. After using the pliers to bend the slotted tube end to fit the crystal, glue the crystal to the sides of the tube. Small strips of leather can be inserted into the spaces between the inside of the tube and the crystal with glue to make a tight fit. When the crystal and the end cap are securely atttached to the tube, the long strip of leather can easily wrapped in a spiral and glued as it's wrapped. Put a drop of glue on the tube with every wrap and pull the leather tight until the glue dries, usually about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Don't get the glue on your fingers or the outside ofare of the wrapped where it will show. It won't take much glue for a tight permanent fit. After the glue has dried use the knife to trim the leather edges around the copper end cap and the quartz crystal. You are now finished building your personal energy rod!!
