English Bay is at the mouth of False Creek and is the anchoring area for a number of freighter ships. It also has one of the best known beaches in the city. The beach is very busy during the summer months. People are suntanning, playing beach volleyball, or just going for a seaside stroll. For four nights during the summer, the beach will be absolutely packed. It's all because of the annual fireworks competition called the Celebration of Light. Think of all those lucky people who live in those apartments just beside the beach. Now that's prime real estate. |

At the entrance to Stanley Park from downtown is Lost Lagoon. It has a large fountain in the middle called the Centennial Fountain. The lagoon used to be a part of the harbour, but after a road was built through Stanley Park, this lagoon was created. I guess that's why this lagoon is lost. In the past, events would take place on the water of this lagoon, but nothing happens there anymore. The lagoon is the home to many Canada geese, ducks, herons, and other waterlife. On the side of the lagoon, the city has tried to create a natural wetland to act as a home for all this wildlife. |

On the North Shore across from the city of Vancouver, is a smaller city called North Vancouver. North Vancouver is blessed with the beautiful and convenient North Shore mountains as well as many ravines and canyons. The Capilano Suspension Bridge was built in the first half of the 20th Century. It is suspended high above the Lynn Valley Canyon. An interpretive centre with displays and activities was built on both ends of the bridge in order to cash in on the bridge's popularity with the tourists. |
