| Rain check: When a baseball game or any other outdoor sports event or concert has been postponed or interrupted by rain or other unforseen circumstances, the spectators are given a ticket to be used at a future performance. This is called a rain check. In general use "an invitation or requested postponement of an invitation" until a more convenient time. Use: "Sorry you can't make it this Saturday. We'll give you a rain check". |
