| Venus, Goddess of Love Venus is the planet of affectionate love, the Muse of art, friendships, and music. As the ruler of Libra, Venus helps to mediate between opposites and to integrate diverse elements into harmonious balance. Like Mercury, Venus is a great mediator, being the Muse of relating. Venus rules important organs and functions within the human body, including the kidneys, inner sexual organs, blood and cell formation, and the sense of smell. An exaggeration of the Venusian Principle is associated with wantoness and venereal disease. *Symbolism* Venus is commonly viewed as the Goddess of Love, known as Aphrodite to the ancient Greeks, but to the Egyptians, Indians, and Hebrews this planetary deity is masculine. To the Indians he is Sukra, who has some of the attributes of the Egyptain God Thoth, being a teacher and phsyician and closely associated with alchemy. Venus is associated with the alchemical process of fermentation. Legen relates that Sukra possessed the elixir of immortality, known in Western Alchemy as the White Lion or White Stone. The Metal of Venus is copper, which is highly conductive. The offspring of Venus/Aphrodite and Mercury/Hermes is the Divine Hermaphrodite, the Adept who has achieved active equilibrium. *Correspondances* Principles: Relating, Art Element: Air Colors: Rose, Emerald Day: Friday Polarity: Yin Zodiac Signs: Libra, Taurus Numbers: 7, 14 Tarot Cards: the Empress, the sevens Sephirah: Netzach (Victory) Chakra: Vissudha (Throat) Metal: Copper Alchemical Process: Fermentation Deities: Aphrodite, Sukra, Ishtar, Benten, Lakshmi, Chenrezi Archangel: Haniel Angel: Anael Planetary Intelligence: Hagiel Planetary Spirit: Kedemel Creatures: Deer, Rabbit, Dove, Swallow, Butterfly Stones: Emerald, Rose Quartz, Opal, Jade, Malachite, Pink Coral Incense: Sandalwood, Storax, Galbanum, Valerian, Violet, Rose Trees: Apple, Pear, Cherry, Elder, Linden, Chestnut Healing Plants: Yarrow, Lady's Mantle, Motherwort, Vervain Body Parts: Complexion, Upper Lip, Throat, Breasts, Kidneys, Abdomen, inner sexual organs Body Functions: Cell and nerve formation, diuretic and emetic processes, sense of smell Malfunctions: Problems relating to sexual organs and kidneys Virtues: Harmony, Proportion, beauty, affection Vices: Sentimentality, immodesty, tastelessness, sexua intemperance Keyword: relating Back to Celestial Gods Back to Grimoire |
