APOLOGY TO A FRIEND
All the things I said to you I didn't really mean. Last night while we were fighting I wish you could have seen Although my words were harsh and cruel they came from hurt and pain. And so instead of loving you, I did to you the same. I wish with all my heart that I could take back every word. And make it so, "I love you." was the only thing you heard. |

THE LEAD
You were the star. You said so yourself . Each time you spoke or the orchestra played And you danced and you sang and you were beautiful. And I stood quiet and I obeyed. I danced your steps. I sang your songs. And after the show when you had gone I wondered if you saw That I hadn't tripped. I didn't stutter. But you were gone . It didn't matter. Tonight will be different. For the first time you'll see Of all the roles I've played yours meant most to me. So when the music fades and the lights go down And it's the last scene of all, I'll stand up and tell you "I loved you.". Then let my final curtain fall. |

WORMS
Lay down on the bed and slip into thought. Think back to fourteen when your best friend was shot. Blood on the road and a stench in the air. You just can't decide if you should have been there. Not moving an inch. Can't utter a sound. He's down on his knees then his face hit the ground. I'm not sure if I moved; but the girl started to run. I looked down to my hands - I was holding the gun. An hour had passed. Five minutes or so. Someone was talking but their voice was too low. I don't think on it much. But the light hurts my eyes. It's the only reminder of my previous guise. Except when I sleep and slip into thought. And think back to fourteen. When my best friend was shot. |
