| This is an overnight hike - 18 kilometres return. Grade: HARD The track is easy to the Pipeline sign. From Capertee Camping area scramble across the dry creek to a well worn track which heads to the old Managers Cottage - keep going straight ahead heading downhill, you will see a wire fence the track goes through where the gate once was - be aware there are nettles on some parts of track which are quite thick - wear trousers or carry leggings. You will come to a little creek which runs into the river - the pipeline sign is on the other side of the creek behind the bushes. The next part of the hike is very good for the heart and lungs, the track rises 340 metres in 1 kilometre At the top, if you vere to your right is a rocky lookout which is a good place to catch your breath, rest weary legs and admire the magnificent view of the Wolgan Valley and river. Head back to the track and continue down Green Gully to Glen Davies. There is a Council camping area at Glen Davies with hot showers and flush toilet. You have to ring the telephone number on the door to have everything unlocked - the caretaker lives just up the road. |
