ACT I
[gollum’s flashback]
[sméagol and his cousin déagol in a rowing
boat, on a beautiful and peaceful spot on the river anduin]
[suddenly, déagol catches a fish with his rod,
the look on his face very excited]
déagol- sméagol! i’ve got
one! i've got a fish, sméag!
[both are laughing and sméagol watches happily
as his cousin is fighting with the fishing rod]
déagol- sméagol!
sméagol- go on! go on, pull
it up!
[instead of pulling the fish up, it pulls
déagol into the water, creating a big splash]
[sméagol remains in the rocking boat and slowly
gets up and sees his cousin's hat, floating in the water]
sméagol- déagol!?
[under the lake, the big fish, caught in the
hook, pulling déagol with him, until he finally lets go of the pole]
[as he opens his eyes in the water, something
catches his attention… the one ring, buried partly in the sandy bottom of the
lake]
[déagol grasps it with his hand and finally
returns to the surface, getting up from the lake]
[as he stands on the grassy riverbank, he
slowly opens his fist, inspecting the ring closer]
[as déagol watches the one ring, sméagol
hurries to his cousin]
sméagol- déagol! [laughing]
déagol!
[sméagol comes to stand behind his cousin's
back and the minute he sees the somewhat muddy ring, he can't take his eyes off
of it]
[sméagol watches it with greedy eyes]
sméagol- give us that,
déagol my love.
[déagol closes his fist and turns around to
face sméagol]
déagol- why?
sméagol- because it's my
birthday and i wants it.
[the smile on sméagol's face fades away and he
suddenly tries to snatch the ring for himself]
[the ring calls]
[sméagol tries again, but déagol keeps dodging]
[they circle around each other and sméagol's
attempts are getting violent]
[the call of the ring gets louder and the two
cousins are finally fighting for the one ring]
[sméagol bites déagol in his arm and throws him
down on the ground]
[the ring falls from déagol’s grip and now lies
in the grass]
[both are reaching for it, the call of the ring
starting to resemble the scream of the nazgûl]
[déagol manages to get the ring and stands up,
attacking sméagol who lets out a scream of terror as he is being strangled]
[however, déagol is lying on the ground again
with his cousin's hands wrapped around his throat]
[déagol's heart beats]
[with a blank face, sméagol throttles his
cousin]
the ring- [black speech]
one ring to rule them all. one ring to find them. one ring to bring them all,
and in the darkness bind them.
[déagol is dead]
[sméagol lets go and immediately takes the ring
for himself, admiring it with bliss written on his face.]
sméagol- my precious...
[sméagol puts the ring on and disappears]
[continuing flashback]
[sméagol, scrambling through rocks, the look on
his face agonized]
gollum- they cursed
us...murderer…
[sméagol, huddled in a dark place, biting his
thumb, watching the ring in his hand.]
gollum- murderer they
called us. they cursed us and drove us away!
sméagol- [cough]
gollum! gollum! gollum!
[sméagol has already began to change into
gollum.]
[gollum kneeling in the rain and by the looks
of it, he is suffering]
gollum- and we wept,
precious. we wept to be so alone.
[gollum catching a fish and biting into it
while it's most likely still alive]
gollum- fish...and we only
wish...so juicy sweet...
[gollum crawls into the tunnels of the misty
mountains.]
gollum- and we forgot the
taste of bread, the sound of trees, the softness of the wind. we even forgot
our own name..."
[gollum sits in the caves, the ring in his
hand, his eyes pale white]
[gollum clutches the ring in his fist]
gollum- my prrrreciousss...
[gollum’s flashback over]
[maryann, wrapped in her elven cloak, sleeping]
[a few meters away sits sharon, awake]
[her breathing gets louder as she brings her
left hand up to fiddle with the ring-chain, her face twitching]
[sharon glances towards maryann’s direction and
takes out the ring]
[she twiddles it with her fingers and watches
it]
[sharon then hears gollum approaching, she
quickly hides the ring]
[gollum peeks into the stony alcove where the
two hobbits have been resting]
gollum- wake up! wake up!
[gollum shakes maryann awake]
gollum- wake up, sleepies!
maryann- [tired] oh
shut the hell up…wake me up in 5 or 10 minutes or maybe an hour. leave me alone.
sharon- come on, maryann.
we need to go.
gollum- we must go,
yess...we must go at once.
[maryann sits up and looks at sharon’s blank
face]
maryann- [mad and tired]
shitman, i didn’t get any sleep, fuck this shit. did you get sleep, sharon?
[sharon merely shakes her head]
maryann- geez chick, you
need to get some sleep.
[maryann stands up and looks at the
surroundings]
maryann- i can see why you
don’t get any sleep. it must be getting late.
sharon- no, it isn't...it
isn't midday yet...the days are growing darker."
maryann- oh.
[the earth shakes and rumbles as orodruin
belches out its fiery contents]
gollum- come on! must go,
no time!
maryann- no, not till sharon
gets something to eat."
gollum- no time to lose,
silly!
maryann- [mad] i
ain’t silly…you’re the psycho around here!
sharon- watch it!
maryann- why, should i?
sharon- cuz he might end up
leaving us if you treat him that way.
maryann- so what…he’s the
freak that bit me on [yells] my neck…[whisper] asshole!
[maryann walks to sharon, goes through her
backpack and hands sharon a pack of lembas bread]
maryann- here, take some.
sharon- what about you?
maryann- no, i'm not
hungry...my stomach can’t take lembas bread.
sharon- aww, you’re so
thoughtful...
maryann- dude, we don't have
that much left. we really have to be careful, or we're goin' to run out. you go
ahead and eat that, sha.
sharon- are you sure?
maryann- yeah, yeah,
whatever. take it before i change my mind.
sharon- ok, whatever you
say.
[sharon takes a bite of the lembas bread]
sharon- is there enough?
maryann- for?
sharon- we could bring some
when we go home.
[the hobbits look at each other, a trace of
emotion playing on maryann and sharon’s face]
[their journey continues, gollum’s leading
them]
gollum- come, hobbitses!
very close now. very close to mordor. no safe places here. hurry!
[nighttime: sharon, maryann, and gollum are all
asleep somewhere near minas morgul]
[gollum is talking in his sleep]
gollum- too risky...too
risky...thieves! they stole it from us...kill them...kill them...kill them
both!
[gollum wakes up with a scream]
gollum- shhh! quiet!
mustn’t wake them! mustn’t ruin it now!
[gollum crawls down from where he was sleeping
and makes his way to a little pool of water]
sméagol- but they knows!
they knows! they suspects us!
[sméagol sits on the edge of the pool and
gollum looks back from the water]
gollum- what's it saying,
my precious, my love? is sméagol losing his nerve?
sméagol- no! not! never!
sméagol hates nasty hobbitses! sméagol wants to see them...dead!
gollum- and we will.
sméagol did it once; he can do it again.
sméagol- it's ours!!!
ours!!! we must get the precious! we must get it back!
gollum- patience! patience,
my love. first we must lead them to her.
sméagol- we lead them to the
winding stairs.
gollum- yes, the
stairs...and then?
sméagol- up, up, up, up the
stairs we go and then we come to...the tunnel.
gollum- and when they go
in, there's no coming out. she's always hungry. she always needs to feed. she
must eat. all she gets is filthy orcses.
sméagol- and they doesn't
taste very nice, does they, precious?
gollum- no, not very nice
at all, my love. she hungers for sweeter meats..."
[farther away,
maryann wakes up, but slowly opening her eyes, hearing gollum having the
conversation with himself]
gollum- ..hobbit meat. and
when she throws away the bones and empty clothes, then we will find it!
sméagol- and take it for
meeeee!!!
gollum- for ussss!
sméagol- yes, we meant, we
meant for us.
gollum- [cough]
gollum…gollum. the precious will be ours...once the hobbitses are dead.
[gollum drops a stone into the pool and as the
reflection in the water becomes still again, gollum's eyes are met by
maryann’s]
[maryann hits gollum on the head, sending him
flying through the air]
maryann- you treacherous
little punk-ass.
gollum- argh! no! master!
[sharon awakes from her sleep when she hears
gollum's screams]
[she hurries to help him]
sharon- no! leave him
alone!
[sharon pulls maryann away from gollum, who is
moaning on the ground]
maryann- i heard it from his
own mouth…he’s going to kill us!!!
gollum- never! sméagol
wouldn't hurt a fly!
[gollum presses his hand against his head and
screams as he sees blood]
gollum- she's a hobbit,
stupid skinny hobbit who hates sméagol and who makes up nasty lies!
maryann- [pissed off]
what the fuck did you just call me? you are messing with the wrong person,
buddy! you are so dead.
[sharon is pulling at maryann’s arm, holding
her back as gollum scuttles away from her]
sharon- maryann!
maryann- he called me a liar!
he’s the liar!
[gollum screams, hiding behind a gangling tree]
[sharon makes maryann face her]
sharon- if we scare him
off, we're lost!
maryann- [yelling] i
don't care! dude, i will not wait around for him to kill us!
sharon- i'm not sending him
away!
maryann- [mad] oh
come on! are you that blind?!…he’s NO good!
sharon- what do you suppose
we should do with him? leave him here so he could die?
maryann- sounds good to
me…why not? i’m up for it.
sharon- i can’t…we can’t do
this by ourselves. we need him to show us the way. it’s out of my hands, i’m
sorry!
[maryann watches sharon with a serious face]
sharon- i need you on my
side.
maryann- i am on your side,
it just feels like you don’t even know if i am or not.
sharon- i know, maryann. i know. this is hard on me…
you just need to trust me.
[maryann and sharon continue on having their
little argument]
[sharon gave in and turns her face towards
gollum]
sharon- come, sméagol. grab
my hand.
[gollum crawls past maryann, looking scared and
takes the hand sharon is offering him]
[as gollum and sharon start walking, gollum
looks back at maryann, suddenly he replaces a cruel and scheming smirk on his
face]
maryann- [pointing at him
mad] err…you.
ACT II
SCENE 1
[with gandalf's lead: aragorn, legolas, gimli, and other riders are riding through
the fangorn forest, towards isengard]
legolas- what do you suppose
elysa and katie are up to?
gimli- i have no idea, but
if it seems like they’re having fun when we’re all worried of what happened to
them…then i will be very angry or even worse.
SCENE 2
[katie and elysa
laughing]
katie- i feel like i’m back home after a hard day's
work.
elysa- only, you've never done a hard day's work.
katie- true.. but hey it could happen!
[both laugh]
[elysa and katie are
sitting on the walls of isengard, eating and smoking pipe weed]
[as they see gandalf
and the others emerge from the woods, elysa stands up and katie lifts her hand,
holding a tankard]
elysa- [drunk] welcome! [dizzy] whoa! [normal]
to isengard!
katie- [to elysa] get a grip, man!
gimli- you, young rascals! from all the time we’ve been
worried, you’ve been feasting and...and smoking!…bad, really bad
katie- what’s wrong with that? we are sitting here
enjoying ourselves with a few
well-earned comforts. get it?
legolas- well i see you’ve guys been having a well-earned
fun time!
[elysa blows out a
cloud of smoke in agreement]
katie- yup, you can say that.
elysa- [excited] we also have some salted pork
that is really delicious, i dare say.
gimli- salted pork?
katie- yup, want some?
gimli- glad to.
gandalf- hobbits...
katie- what?
elysa- we are under the command of treebeard, who's
taken over management of isengard.
gandalf- let us go meet up with my dear good friend.
[katie rides on
horseback with aragorn, and elysa with éomer]
[gandalf and the
others ride towards orthanc in the flooded ruins of isengard]
treebeard- young master gandalf. i'm glad you've come. wood
and water, stock and stone i can master, but there's a wizard to manage here;
locked in his tower.
gandalf- and there saruman must remain. under your guard,
treebeard.
gimli- well, let's just have his head and be done with
it!
elysa and katie- [shouting] yeah, whack off his head!
gandalf - no, he has no power anymore.
elysa- aww…and i was looking forward to it too.
treebeard- the filth of saruman is washing away. trees will
come back to live here.
[katie sees
something in the water]
[katie jumps down to
get it]
treebeard- young trees, wild trees.
[aragorn looks at
katie]
aragorn- katie!
[katie sinks her
hands into the water and lifts up the palantír of saruman]
treebeard- bless my bark!
gandalf- katie! i'll take that, my lass.
[katie, holding the
stone, looks at gandalf, then at the palantír again]
gandalf- quickly now!
[katie hands the
stone to gandalf who immediately wraps and hides it under his robes]
[katie watches after
gandalf and the palantír as the wizard rides away from her]
SCENE 3
[gandalf and the
others riding through the plains of rohan towards edoras and the golden hall of
medusel]
katie- [looking at edoras] what is that place?
aragorn- that’s the golden hall of medusel.
katie– ok…
[katie sees éowyn
standing outside the golden hall]
[they finally arrive
inside edoras]
elysa- horseback….weird. [yelling towards katie]
katie! remind me not to ride on a horse when i’m drunk!
katie- ok…i will! [she’s about to leave] wait!
elysa- what?
katie- i would tell you , if i remember!
elysa- then what’s the point of telling you
something…ugh!
katie- sorry!
elysa- whatever!
legolas- [to elysa and katie] let’s go in, now!
[they enter the
golden hall]
elysa- [fascinated] wow!
katie- [agreeing] uh huh!
[king théoden stands
before his throne]
théoden- time to celebrate for our victory. tonight we
remember those who gave their blood to defend this country.
[théoden holds out
his goblet to honor the dead]
théoden- hail the victorious dead!
people of rohan- hail!
[holding a tankard,
aragorn seems to hesitate before bringing it to his lips]
[later the people of
rohan are celebrating in the golden hall]
[éowyn, holding a
cup, walking towards aragorn]
[aragorn comes to
stand before her and éowyn hands him the goblet]
éowyn- here, aragorn, for you.
[aragorn takes the
cup and drinks as éowyn watches him with a radiant smile on her face]
[aragorn gives it
back with a light nod and walks away]
[théoden joins éowyn
and watches aragorn leave]
théoden- i am happy for you. he is an honorable man.
éowyn- you are both honorable men.
théoden- it was not théoden of rohan who led our people to
victory.
[éowyn looks at her
uncle, but the smile on her face is now
gone]
théoden- don't listen to me. you are young and tonight is
for you.
[the smile returns
to éowyn’s face]
[further away: elysa
and katie are singing about their famous beer in their hometown and dancing on
a table, tankards in their hands]
elysa and katie- [drunk and singing] oh you can search far
and wide, you can drink the whole town dry, but you'll never find a beer so
brown as the one we drink in our home town! You can keep your fancy ales, you
can drink them by the flagon, but the only brew for the brave and true, comes
from our hometown!
[gandalf is watching
the little show of the hobbits, laughing and clapping with his hands]
[gandalf is joined
by aragorn]
aragorn- no news of sharon?
[legolas joins in]
legolas- is there any word of her?
gandalf- no word. nothing.
aragorn- we have time.
legolas- every day sharon moves closer to mordor.
gandalf- do we even know that?
aragorn- what does your heart tell you?
[gandalf is silent
and looks at aragorn and legolas, then a little smile rises to his lip]
gandalf- that sharon is alive. yes...yes, she is alive.
[gimli joins in]
gimli- [excited] why are you guys so down for?
let’s have some fun! [hands legolas a tankard of ale] drink up!
legolas- what’s the point of this?
[elysa and katie
spots legolas with the tankard]
elysa- is he gunna drink it?
katie- i dunno, let’s go see.
[they walk to
legolas and the others]
katie- hey guys! [to legolas] so legolas, are you
going to drink that?
gimli- he should.
elysa- yeah legolas, drink it!
[aragorn and gandalf
just staring]
[legolas drinks]
elysa and katie- chug! chug! chug!
[legolas keeps
drinking]
elysa and katie- chug! chug! chug!
[legolas finishes
and slams the cup on the table]
legolas- done!
gimli- [happy] well done!
SCENE 4
[later that night
when everyone is sleeping, aragorn walks outside the golden hall, his pipe in
his hands]
[aragorn turns to
look to his left and sees a dark figure, standing very still, a few meters
away]
[aragorn makes his
way to legolas, who is gazing into the direction of mordor]
legolas- the stars are veiled.
[aragorn comes to
stand beside legolas]
legolas- something stirs in the east...a sleepless malice.
[they glance at each
other]
legolas- the eye of the enemy is moving.
[inside the room
where gandalf and the hobbits are sleeping]
[katie wakes up]
[katie stands up
from her bed on the floor and sneaks towards gandalf]
elysa- what the hell are you doing?
[katie turns,
surprised, but doesn't give elysa an answer]
[as she stands
beside gandalf's bed, katie is startled, for the wizard sleeps with his eyes
open]
elysa- katie, you better not!
[katie takes a
closer look at gandalf and waves a hand in front of his eyes to make sure he is
asleep]
elysa- katie, no!
[elysa sits up in
her bed as katie is about to replace the palantír in gandalf's grip with a pot]
[the wizard mutters
something in his sleep, causing the hobbit to draw back]
[quickly katie
snatches the palantír, wrapped in a cloth, without disturbing gandalf's sleep]
elysa- katie! are you crazy?!
katie- i just want to look at it! just one more time...
[katie unwraps the
cloth and takes out the stone, sweat glistening on her face]
elysa- put it back!
[with a satisfied
smile on her face katie lowers her hands on the stone]
elysa- [yelling] no, katie!
[the smile on the
hobbit's face soon fades as the lidless eye appears in the palantír]
[katie is unable to
take her hands off the stone and starts to shake]
elysa- [scared] uh oh!
[elysa watches,
scared, as her friend struggles with the glowing palantír]
[we see legolas and
aragorn, still outside the golden hall. legolas turns to look at aragorn,
alarmed]
legolas- he is here!
[aragorn and legolas
run to the room]
voice of sauron- i see you...
[elysa trying to
figure out what to do]
elysa- [shouting] katie!
[katie jumps up,
holding the palantír as if it were glued to her hands]
[katie struggles
with the flaming stone, falling down on her back]
[sauron's voice
whispers in the background and katie cries in agony]
elysa- [yelling and freaked out] help, someone!
gandalf!
[instantly, gandalf
stirs from his sleep and jumps up from his bed]
[aragorn and legolas
storm into the room as well]
elysa- help her! someone help her!
[aragorn snatches
the palantír from katie’s hands but falls on his knees, taken over by its
power]
[legolas tries to
help his friend and holds him still]
[the stone drops
from aragorn's hands and rolls down the floor]
elysa- katie!
[gandalf takes a
cloth and uses it to cover the palantír]
gandalf- fool!
[gandalf sees katie
lying on the floor, her eyes open, staring into void]
[gandalf hurries to
the hobbit, pushing elysa aside]
elysa- umm…whatever happened to “excuse me.”
gimli- this wouldn’t be a good time for that.
elysa- oh.
[the wizard takes
katie’s hand into his own and presses his other hand on the hobbit's forehead]
[gandalf whispers
something and strokes katie’s cheek]
[katie blinks her
eyes]
gandalf- look at me.
katie- gandalf! i’m sorry!
[katie is about to
close her eyes again, but gandalf won't let her]
gandalf- look at me. what did you see?
katie- ...a tree...there was a white tree...in a
courtyard of stone...it was dead. the city was burning.
gandalf- minas tirith? is that what you saw?
katie- i saw...i saw him! i could hear his voice in my
head!
gandalf- and what did you tell him? speak!
katie- ...he asked me my name; i didn't answer. he hurt
me!
gandalf- did you tell him about sharon and the ring?!
SCENE 5
[the next day:
gandalf is having a conversation with théoden about the night's events]
[aragorn, legolas,
and gimli are also present]
gandalf- there was no lie in katie’s eyes. a fool...but an
honest fool she remains.
[further away sits
katie with elysa, looking remorseful]
gandalf- she told sauron nothing of sharon and the ring.
we've been strangely fortunate. katie saw in the palantír a glimpse of the
enemy's plan. sauron moves to strike the city of minas tirith. his defeat at
helm's deep showed our enemy one thing: he knows the heir of elendil has come
forth. men are not as weak as he supposed; there is courage still. strength
enough perhaps to challenge him. sauron fears this.
[all are silent and
listens as gandalf continues]
gandalf- he will not risk the peoples of middle-earth
uniting under one banner. he will raze minas tirith to the ground before he
sees a king return to the throne of men. if the beacons of gondor are lit,
rohan must be ready for war.
théoden- tell me, why should we ride to the aid of those
who did not come to ours?
[all are silent]
[aragorn turns to
look at théoden]
théoden- what do we owe gondor?
aragorn- i will go.
gandalf- no!
aragorn- they must be warned!
gandalf- they will be.
[gandalf walks to
where aragorn is standing with legolas and gimli by his side]
gandalf- you must come to minas tirith by other road.
follow the river and look to the black ships."
[aragorn meets
gandalf's eyes before the wizard turns to face the others]
gandalf- understand this,
things are now in motion that cannot be undone. i ride for minas
tirith...
[gandalf turns to
look at katie]
gandalf- ...and i won't be going alone.
[katie and elysa
look at each other]
elysa- who is he talking to?
[gandalf walks
towards the hobbits, and stops]
gandalf- let’s go.
[the two hobbits and
gandalf walk out of the golden hall]
[they walk towards
the stables of edoras]
gandalf- of all the inquisitive people, katie, you are the
worst! hurry! hurry!
[elysa follows
gandalf and katie]
[katie runs behind
elysa, trying to catch up with her friend, not really understanding what is
going on]
katie- where are we going?
elysa- why did you look? why do you always have to
look?!
katie- i know…i know…i can't help it.
elysa- you never can...
katie- ok, i'm sorry, all right! just get off my case.
[they stop and elysa
turns to look at katie, a serious look on her face]
katie- i won't do it again.
[elysa walks to
katie, realizing the younger hobbit is totally unaware of things]
elysa- umm…don't
you get it?!
katie- [confused] get what?
elysa- the enemy thinks you have the ring!
[katie stares at elysa, a frown on her face]
elysa- he's going to be
looking for you, kate. they have to get you out of here.
katie- [wondering]
and y-you're coming with me?
[elysa doesn't answer, just walks away]
katie- elysa? answer me.
elysa- come on!
[inside the stables, gandalf lifts katie up to
sit on shadofax's back]
katie- how far is minas
trith, anyway?
gandalf- it’s minas tirith.
and it’s a three-day's ride as the nazgûl flies.
[katie purses her nose at the long journey]
gandalf- and we better hope
we don't have one of those on our tail...
[elysa comes forth and hands katie a pack]
elysa- here...something
for the road.
katie- last of the
longbottom leaf.
elysa- i know you ran out.
you smoke too much, kate.
katie- ummm…will we see
each other soon...
[elysa glances at gandalf, knowing how serious
things actually are]
katie- are we?
elysa- i don't know.
[katie stares at elysa,
confused]
[gandalf gets up to sit behind
katie]
[elysa takes a few steps back,
her voice weakened by the lump in her throat]
elysa- i don't know what's
going to happen...
katie- elysa!
gandalf- run, shadofax. show
us the meaning of haste.
katie- elysa!!!
[shadowfax gallops out of the stables and elysa
runs after them]
[elysa climbs up to a watchtower, aragorn
running after her]
aragorn- elysa!
[elysa watches as gandalf and katie ride away]
ACT III
SCENE 1
[in a beautiful and tranquil forest, the elves
are on their way to the grey havens]
[the sound of the song of the birds and the
light swish of the elven-robes]
[arwen, sitting on asfaloth's back…thinking of
what her father said to the elves]
elrond- take her by the
safest road. a ship lays anchored in the grey havens; it waits to carry her
across the sea. the last journey of arwen undómiel.
[the party of the elves moves on]
[no sounds are heard]
[suddenly a little boy in a white shirt,
appears from nowhere]
[the little boy runs into the woods]
[arwen turns to look at the boy and before her
eyes, opens a vision of a grey-haired aragorn, running to the little boy who is
eldarion, their son]
[aragorn takes eldarion in his arms and spins
him around, both laughing]
[arwen watches this, tears forming in her eyes]
[aragorn kisses his son who then turns his face
towards arwen's direction, meeting her eyes]
[arwen notices eldarion is carrying the
evenstar around his neck]
[eldarion continues to stare at his mother and
finally a single tear rolls down arwen's cheek and she closes her eyes]
[arwen opens her eyes again and the vision is
gone]
[one of the elves walks to arwen]
elf- lady arwen, we
cannot delay.
[without saying a word, arwen makes asfaloth
turn back, intenting to return to rivendell]
elf- my lady!
[arwen arrive in a deserted rivendell where her
father sits alone, writing something with a quill]
[elrond turns and watches as
arwen throws her velvet robe to the ground and hurries to her father]
arwen- tell me what you
have seen!"
elrond- arwen!
arwen- you have the gift
of foresight, what did you see?
elrond- i looked into your
future and i saw death.
arwen- there is also life.
you saw there was a child. you saw my son.
[elrond turns his back at his daughter and
leans against a railing and looks at the silent rivendell]
elrond- that future is
almost gone.
arwen- but it is not lost!
[elrond sits down, a dark expression on his
face]
elrond- nothing is certain.
[arwen kneels before her father]
arwen- some things are
certain. if i leave him now, i will regret it forever. it is time.
[arwen hooded walking to the shards of narsil,
and walks back to her father]
[arwen holds a book]
arwen- from the ashes of
fire shall be woken, a light from the shadow shall spring, renewed shall be
blade that was broken. the crownless again shall be king. re-forge the
sword...father.
[elrond
turns away and arwen sits down on a bed, holding a book in her hands, her
breathing suddenly becomes loud]
[arwen stares as the book in her hands and
drops it to the ground]
[elrond walks to his daughter and picks up the
book]
[elrond takes arwen's hands into his own]
elrond- your hands are
cold. the life of the eldar is leaving you.
[arwen and her father look at each other]
arwen- this was my choice.
[elrond has tears in his eyes as arwen
continues]
arwen- father, whether by
your will or not, there is no ship now that can bear me hence.
[afterwards, elrond walks in the night of rivendell as the andúril is being made]
[forming the shards of narsil, two elves forge
it the flame of the west]
[gandalf and katie ride on shadowfax through
plains and forests, making their way to minas tirith]
gandalf- we've just passed
into the realm of gondor.
[they ride up a hill and finally the white city
stands before their eyes]
gandalf- minas tirith-city
of kings.
[gandalf and katie ride through the streets of
the seven-tiered citadel]
gandalf- make way!
[finally they reach the top level]
[katie notices the white tree, now dead]
katie- it's the tree!
dude! gandalf?!
gandalf- yes, the white tree
of gondor. the tree of the king. lord denethor, however, is not a king. he is a
steward only; a caretaker of the throne.
[the two stand before the doors of the throne
room, gandalf stops and looks at katie]
gandalf- now, listen
carefully: lord denethor is boromir's father. to give him news of his beloved
son's death will be most unwise. and don't mention sharon.
[gandalf’s about to go through the doors but
stops and turns back towards katie]
gandalf- and say nothing of
aragorn either.
[gandalf is about to enter, but stops and once
more again, turns to look at katie]
gandalf- in fact, it's
better if you do not speak at all.
[katie nods and they enter through the doors]
[inside the hall sits denethor, his face
lowered, the broken horn of gondor in his hands]
[gandalf walks towards him]
gandalf- hail, denethor son
of ecthelion, lord and steward of gondor.
[denethor remains silent and stares at the
broken horn in his hands]
gandalf- i come with tidings
in this dark hour. and with counsel.
[denethor looks up]
denethor- perhaps you come to
explain this. perhaps you come to tell me why my son is dead.
[katie sees the broken horn and reminisce how
boromir died to save her and elysa]
katie- boromir died to
save us; my friend and me.
[gandalf glances down at katie]
katie- he died defending
us from many enemies.
gandalf- katie!
[katie walks towards denethor and kneels before
him]
[denethor watches her with a serious face]
katie- i offer you my
service for his death.
[gandalf closes his eyes, but doesn't interfere]
katie- i will do my best
to serve you.
[denethor stares at katie and finally gandalf
knocks the hobbit with his staff]
gandalf- [not satisfied] get
up! my lord, there will be a time to grieve for boromir. but it is not now. war
is coming.
[denethor remains silent, his face lowered]
gandalf- the enemy is on
your doorstep! as steward you're charged with the defense of the city! where
are gondor's armies?!
[denethor stares at gandalf]
gandalf- you still have
friends. you are not alone in this fight. send word to théoden of rohan. light
the beacons.
denethor- you think you are
wise, mithrandir. yet for all your subtleties, you have not wisdom. do you
think the eyes of the white tower are blind? i have seen more than you know.
with your left hand you would use me as a shield against mordor! and with your
right, you seek to supplant me! i know who rides with théoden of rohan. oh yes,
word has reached my ears of this aragorn son of arathorn, and i tell you now: i
will not bow to this ranger from the north! last of a ragged house long bereft
of lordship.
gandalf- authority is not
given to you to deny the return of the king, steward!
[denethor jumps up from his chair]
denethor- rule of gondor is
mine and no other's!!!
[katie stares at denethor, bewildered]
[gandalf turns to leave and walks away]
gandalf- [to katie]
come!
[katie follows the wizard out of the throne
room]
[the nighttime in minas tirith, gandalf is
standing out on a balcony, smoking his pipe and looking into the direction of
mordor]
[katie is inspecting the armour she has been
given]
katie- [confused] ummm…do i really have to do this, it’s imaginable. i mean, they don't actually
expect me to do any fighting?
[katie puts the sword back to its sheath and
looks at gandalf]
katie- do they?
gandalf- you're in the
service of the steward now, you're going to have to do as you're told...kathryn
took, guard of the citadel.
katie- man, i’m stupid.
[katie walks to the railing of the balcony and
leans against it]
katie- it's so quiet...
gandalf- it's the deep
breath before the plunge.
katie- i don't want to be
in a battle...but waiting on the edge of one i can't escape is even worse!
[gandalf comes to stand beside the hobbit]
[katie turns her face up to look at the wizard]
katie- is there any hope,
gandalf? for sharon and maryann?
gandalf- there never was
much hope...
[katie’s face turns serious and she looks at
gandalf]
gandalf- just a fool's hope.
katie- interesting.
[gandalf and katie are standing on the balcony,
looking into the direction of mordor]
[gandalf leans back from the railing and with a
serious face, watches the green ray of light in the sky above minas morgul]
[gandalf turns his face in the direction of
mordor, where the night sky is painted red by orodruin]
[soldiers and civilians are
watching the events in minas morgul]
[gandalf and katie are still
standing on the balcony]
[katie is terrified and turns
to look at gandalf]
[the wizard sees that the
hobbit is scared and wraps an arm around her shoulder]
gandalf- our enemy is ready.
his full strength's gathered. we come to it at last...the great battle of our
time. not only orcs but men as well, legions of haradrim from the south.
mercenaries from the boast. all will answer mordor's call. this will be the end
of gondor as we know it. here the hammer stroke will fall hardest. if the river
is taken, if the garrison in osgiliath falls, the last defense of this city
will be gone.
katie- but we have the
white wizard, that's got to count for something.
[the smile on katie’s face fades as gandalf’s
serious eyes meet hers]
katie- gandalf?
[enemies on mûmakil, making their way to minas
tirith from a afar]
[the corsairs of umbar make their way towards
minas tirith, as well]
[in minas morgul the witch-king of angmar is
getting ready for the battle. he pulls on his iron
gloves and covers his faceless head with an
atrocious helmet]
gandalf- sauron is yet to reveal his deadliest servant, the one who
will lead mordor's armies to war. the one they say no living man can kill. the
witch-king of angmar! you've met him before.
[gandalf and katie look at each other as the
wizard continues]
gandalf- he stabbed sharon
on weathertop.
[katie
remembers the incident, katie has a quick flashback of sharon as she is being
stabbed with the morgul blade]
gandalf- he is the lord of the nazgûl, the greatest of the nine.
minas morgul is his lair.
[gandalf and katie walking on the streets of
minas tirith]
gandalf- the board is set.
the pieces are moving. the beacons of gondor should be set. kathryn took, my
lass. there is a task now to be done. another opportunity for one of the shire-folk to prove their great worth.
[gandalf stops and kneels in front of katie,
placing his hand on the hobbit's shoulder]
gandalf- you must not fail
me.
katie- i will not fail.
[with a serious face katie leaves to light the
beacon]
[at osgiliath along the river anduin, troops of
orcs are nearing the city with their boats]
gothmog- quiet.
[in the city, faramir and his men are preparing
for the attack]
faramir- [whispering to
his men] to the river! quick!
[the orcs come closer and closer to osgiliath]
gothmog- faster!
[the orcs row faster and the boats get closer
to osgiliath]
[inside the city the men are running to their
posts]
gothmog- draw swords!
[the orcs finally arrive at the city and start
running to the shore]
[faramir, leaning against a wall, watches as
the orcs run right past him and his men]
[faramir and his men wait for the right moment
attack]
[finally faramir runs forth from his hide and
the battle begins]
[the men defend their city as more orcs arrive
with their boats]
[faramir and his men fight bravely but are on
the losing side]
[the orcs are everywhere and men fall down,
dead]
[faramir running to madril, dozen orcs coming
after him]
madril- faramir!
[faramir sees the archers, ready to shoot, and
jumps out of the way]
[the orcs coming after him receive a volley of
arrows]
madril- we can't hold them!
the city is lost.
[faramir looks around him and agrees]
faramir- tell the men to
break cover. we ride to minas tirith.
[more men are being killed and suddenly a
shriek from the nazgûl reaches the soldier's ears]
gondorian soldier-
nazgûl..."
[the nazgûl, with their fell-beast circle over the
city]
[the fell-beast grabs men with their huge
claws]
gondorian soldier-
take cover!
faramir- pull back! pull
back to minas tirith!
[with faramir's lead, the men retreat]
[madril gets badly wounded and falls behind]
[the nazgûl keep attacking as the men ride away
with their horses]
faramir- retreat! retreat!
[madril is left behind lying on the ground,
almost dead]
[the orcs come to stand around him and madril
watches as gothmog takes a spear and crushes it into his chest, killing him]
gothmog- the age of men is over. the time of the orc has come.
[the surviving soldiers ride away from
osgiliath in a hurry, the nazgûl come flying after them]
[the fell-beast keep flying around the men,
lifting them from their horses with their claws, then throwing them to the
ground]
[gandalf
rides shadowfax with katie from minas tirith to the aid the men]
[the gondorian soldiers and the civilians are
watching gandalf from the walls]
gondorian soldier-
it's the white rider!
[shadowfax carries gandalf and katie closer to
where the three nazgûl are still attacking faramir and his men]
[when everything looks hopeless, gandalf rises
his staff and a bright, white light beams towards the sky aimed at the nazgûl]
[the light drives away the nazgûl and the men
are safe to ride to minas tirith]
[once inside the gates, faramir rides to
gandalf]
faramir- mithrandir! they
broke our defenses, they've taken the bridge in the westbank. battalions of
orcs are crossing the river.
gondorian soldier-
it is as lord denethor predicted! long has he foreseen this doom!
gandalf- foreseen and done
nothing!
[gandalf turns around with shadowfax, revealing
katie who is sitting in front of him]
[as faramir sees the hobbit, he stares at her]
[katie notices she is being stared at and tries
to lower her face]
gandalf- faramir? this is
not the first halfling to have crossed your paths?
faramir- no...
[katie looks up, the look on her face getting
brighter]
katie- you've seen sharon
and maryann?
[faramir nods at katie]
gandalf- where!?
when?!"
faramir- in ithilien, not
two days ago.
[katie turns to look at gandalf, both look
happy and relieved]
faramir- gandalf, they're
taking the road to the morgul vale.
[the smile on gandalf's face fades and he looks
at faramir, his eyes filling with worry]
gandalf- and then the pass
of cirith ungol?
[faramir nods silently]
katie- what does that
mean? umm…what’s going on?
gandalf- faramir, tell me
everything.
katie- me too!
[at minas tirith where katie climbs up to the
tower to light the beacon]
[two gondorian guards the beacon, but they
don't see the hobbit]
[katie climbs onto the pile of wood and finally
manages to light the fire]
[the soldiers jump up as they see the beacon is
lit]
[below, on the street, gandalf smiles as he sees
that the hobbit has succeeded]
[gandalf runs to see how the chain of the seven
beacons starts to light up]
gandalf- amon dîn.
soldier- the beacon! the
beacon of amon dîn is lit!
[denethor watches the situation with a dark
look on his face]
gandalf- hope is recruit.
[in osgiliath, the witch-king of angmar, with
his fell-beast, sitting up in the top of a tower, watches the ruined city]
[gothmog comes to see him]
witch-king- send forth
all legions. do not stop the attack until the city is taken. slay them all.
gothmog- what of the wizard?
witch-king- i will break
him.
[at minas tirith, gandalf, on the wall,
watching the fields with the gondorian guards]
guard 1- where are théoden's
riders?
guard 2- will rohan's army
come? mithrandir?
gandalf- courage is the best
defense you have now.
[inside the castle where katie is giving her
oath to denethor, faramir stands in the background]
katie-here do i swear
fealty and service to gondor. in peace or war, in living or dying...
[katie is having trouble remembering what to
say]
[this amuses denethor and he gives the hobbit a
smile]
katie- f-from...from this
hour henceforth, until my lord release me, or death take me.
[denethor stands up and walks to katie]
denethor- and i shall not forget it. nor fail to reward that which is
given.
[denethor holds out his hand and katie closes
her eyes and quickly kisses the man's ring]
katie- [thinking]
damn…i can’t believe i just kissed his ring. i don’t even know where that ring
has been. eww!
[denethor cups katie’s face and makes her look
up]
denethor- fealty with love.
[denethor makes his way to a table that is set
near by]
denethor- valor with honor, disloyalty with vengeance.
[denethor looks at faramir and sits down]
[denethor
eyes his son as he starts to fill his plate]
denethor-i do not think we
should so lightly abandon the outer defenses. defenses that your brother long
held intact.
faramir- what would you have
me do?
denethor- i will not yield
the river in pelennor unfought. osgiliath must be re-taken.
faramir- my lord, osgiliath
is over-run.
denethor- much must be risked
in war. is there a captain here who still has the courage to do his lord's
will?
[katie looks at denethor, then turns to look at
faramir, confused]
[faramir watches his father with a saddened
expression]
faramir- you wish now that
our places have been exchanged. that i had died and boromir had lived.
[denethor is silent before answering, the
expression on his face serious]
denethor- yes, i wish that.
[denethor brings a goblet to his lips and
drinks]
[faramir looks at his father, tears forming in
his eyes]
faramir- since you're robbed
of boromir, i will do what i can in his stead.
[faramir bows to his father and turns around to
leave]
[katie watches as faramir walks away]
[denethor merely sits with the wine goblet in
his hands and is silent]
[faramir stops and turns to look at denethor]
faramir- if i should return,
think better of me, father.
denethor- that will depend on
the manner of your return.
[in minas tirith, faramir and a small host of
gondorian soldiers prepare to re-take osgiliath]
[as they ride on the streets of the city, the
people of gondor have gathered on the sides and watch as they go]
[not a single happy face is seen in the crowd,
everyone is grieved]
[people are throwing flowers on the street and
hand them to the soldiers]
gandalf- faramir! faramir!
[gandalf squeezes himself through the crowd and
comes to walk beside faramir and his horse]
gandalf- your father's will has
turned to madness! do not throw away your life so rushedly!
faramir- where does my
allegiance lie, if not here?
[gandalf stops and watches as faramir rides
away]
gandalf- your father loves
you, faramir! he will remember it before the end.
[faramir and the soldiers finally ride through
the gates of minas tirith]
[they form a line and ride towards osgiliath
and the people of gondor are watching from the walls]
[the orcs in the ruined osgiliath rise their
heads and see the approaching men]
[faramir and his men, ride towards osgiliath]
[the orcs prepare to shoot arrows]
[faramir pulls out his sword]
[the orcs release their arrows]
[gandalf sits alone in silence on an empty
castle yard]
[gandalf looks at osgiliath, the troops of
sauron are preparing to attack into minas tirith]
[as his son rides to his doom, denethor sits
inside the castle and eats]
[katie is with him, dressed in her guardsman
uniform]
denethor- can you sing,
little hobbit?
katie- well...yes. at
least well enough for my friends and myself. but we have no songs for great
halls and ...evil times. well when i think about it…maybe elysa does, but she
ain’t here now.
denethor- and why should your
songs be unfit for my halls?
katie- [thinking]
cuz you suck!
denethor- come, sing me a
song.
[katie looks up and watches as denethor bites
into a tomato, the juices running down his chin]
[katie takes a deep breath and begins to sing
as denethor continues to eat]
katie- [singing] home is
behind, the world ahead...and there are many paths to tread...
[denethor merely eats, his face empty of
emotion]
katie- [singing] through
shadow, to the edge of night. until the stars are all alight. mist and shadow,
cloud and shade...all shall fade...all shall fade.
[denethor eats, katie turns to look at the
un-moved steward]
[katie closes her eyes]
ACT V
SCENE 1
[a beautiful and breathtaking, one by the one
the beacons of gondor are lit, over snowy mountain peaks, during day- and
night-time, showing us how the chain of beacons light up in fire finally
in edoras the beacon is lit]
[aragorn is standing outside]
[aragorn sees the burning sign and immediately
turns around and runs to inform king théoden]
[aragorn runs in to the golden hall, where king
théoden and the others are]
aragorn- the bacons of minas tirith! the beacons are lit!
gondor calls for aid!
[théoden remains
silent and farther away, we see éowyn come stand beside her brother]
[everyone is waiting
for the king's answer]
théoden- and rohan will answer. muster the rohirrim!
[éomer bows and
leaves to gather up the riders]
[outside, the people
prepare for leaving]
[théoden is talking
to éomer]
théoden- assemble the army at dunharrow; as many men as
can be found. you have two days.
[éomer nods, but is
stopped by his uncle]
théoden- on the third, we ride for gondor. and war.
gamling, make haste across the riddermark. summon every able-bodied man to
dunharrow.
[aragorn securing
his gear on brego and éowyn joins him, leading a horse with her]
aragorn- you ride with us?
éowyn- just to the encampment. it's tradition for the
women of the court to farewell the men."
[aragorn looks at éowyn, walks
to her horse and lifts up the folded blanket, revealing a sword. éowyn pulls it
down]
éowyn- the men have found their captain, they will
follow you into battle, even to death. you have given us hope.
[the women and
children of rohan saying good-bye to the men]
[king théoden
watches as the flag of rohan flaps in the air]
[théoden stares at
the people of rohan]
théoden- so it is before the walls of minas tirith, the
doom of our time will be decided.
[aragorn gets on
brego’s back as éomer talks to the riders]
éomer- now is the hour, riders of rohan, oaths you have
taken! now, fulfill them all! to lord and land!"
[the riders of
rohan, led by their king, leave edoras]
[elysa, too, is with
them]
[king théoden and
aragorn, on their way to dunharrow where the army of rohan is going to camp out
on their way to gondor]
[the men stand up as
théoden rides past them]
théoden- grimbold how many?
grimbold- i bring five hundred men from the westfold, my
lord.
gamling- we have three hundred more.
théoden- where are the riders from snowbourn?
gamling- none have come, my lord.
[aragorn and the
others get off their horses]
[aragorn walks to
stand beside théoden who is looking down from the landing]
théoden- six thousand spears. less than half of what i'd
hoped for.
aragorn- six thousand will not be enough to break the
lines of mordor.
théoden- more will come.
aragorn- every hour lost hastens gondor's defeat. we have
till dawn. then we must ride.
[théoden looks at
aragorn and nods]
[they both turn to
look behind their backs, the men are having trouble controlling
their horses]
[legolas and gimli
walk towards éomer]
legolas- the horses are restless...and the men are quiet.
éomer- they grow nervous in the shadow of the mountain.
[legolas and gimli
both look at the white mountains]
gimli- geez, what is that road, where does it lead to?
legolas- it’s the road to the dimholt; the door under the
mountain.
gimli- oh…
éomer- none who venture there ever return. that mountain
is evil.
[aragorn walks
towards the split in the mountain]
[aragorn look into
the narrow path, an image of the king
of the dead flickers in aragorn’s mind]
gimli- aragorn. let's find some food. i’m starving.
[before
following, aragorn glances in the direction of the mountain but the king of the
dead is there no more]
[nighttime in
dunharrow, in a tent with éowyn and elysa]
[elysa dressed up in
her rohan war armour]
[éowyn places a
helmet to elysa’s head]
éowyn- there. a true esquire of rohan."
elysa- [astonished] ah…man…
[elysa feels her
helmet, an excited smile on her face]
[elysa pulls out her
sword and éowyn leans back, startled but laughing]
elysa- i'm ready! oops, sorry...it’s not that dangerous.
come on! it's not even sharp!
éowyn- well that's no good; you won't kill many orcs
with a blunt blade. come on!
[éowyn leads elysa
out of the tent]
[outside éomer and
gamling are eating by a fire as elysa lashes air with her sword]
[éowyn walking
behind her, laughing]
éowyn- to the smithy, go!
éomer- you should not encourage her.
éowyn - you should not doubt her.
éomer- i do not doubt her heart; only the reach of her
arm.
[elysa has good
hearing, but isn’t that far from éowyn, éomer, and gamling]
elysa- [yelling] i heard that!
[gamling laughs at
this but éowyn is serious]
éowyn- why should elysa be left behind; she has as much
cause go to war as you!
[éomer is silent and
listens to his sister.]
éowyn- why can she not fight for those she loves?
[a mysterious
figure, riding up towards the encampment, past the púkel-men]
[aragorn is sleeping
restlessly in his tent]
[aragorn dreams of
arwen, lying on a bed in rivendell with her eyes closed, looking very ill]
[in the dream, arwen
opens her eyes, her face pale]
[aragorn sees the
entrance to the paths of the dead]
arwen- i choose a mortal life.
[arwen, lying in
Rivendell, a single tear falling from her eye]
arwen- i wish i
could have seen him...one last time.
[arwen closes her eyes and we
see the evenstar falling through the air and hit the ground and breaks into
many pieces]
[aragorn wakes up
and pulls out his sword, startled]
[aragorn sits on his
bed and one of the rohirrim peeks in from the doorway]
soldier 1- sir? king théoden awaits you, my lord.
[aragorn sighs and
gets out of the tent]
[aragorn follows the
soldier into théoden’s tent]
[inside the king and
the mysterious person, wearing a dark hooded cloak]
théoden- i take my leave.
[aragorn watches as
the person stands up and removes his hood]
[aragorn is
surprised to see elrond in dunharrow]
[aragorn bows his
head]
aragorn- my lord elrond.
elrond- i come on behalf of one whom i love. arwen is
dying.
[aragorn stares at
elrond]
elrond- she will not long survive the evil that now
spreads from mordor. the light of the evenstar is failing. as sauron's power
grows, her strength wanes. arwen's life is now tied to the fate of the ring.
the shadow is upon us, aragorn. the end has come.
aragorn- it will not be our end but his.
elrond- you ride to war but not to victory. sauron's armies march
on minas tirith as you know, but in secret
he sends another force which
will attack from the river. the fleet of corsair ships sails from the south.
they'll be in the city in two days. you're outnumbered, aragorn. you need more
men.
aragorn- there are none.
elrond- there are those who dwell in the mountain.
[aragorn has an
image in his head of the king of the dead]
[a strong wind
suddenly blows in the tent]
aragorn- murderers. traitors. you would call upon them to
fight?! they believe in nothing! they answer to no one.
elrond- they will answer to the king of gondor!
[elrond pulls out
andúril from under his robes and holds it out for aragorn]
elrond- andúril-flame of the west. forged from the shards
of narsil.
[aragorn walks
towards elrond and looks at the sword]
[aragorn takes it
into his hands]
aragorn- sauron will not have forgotten the word of
elendil.
[aragorn pulls
andúril out of its sheath]
aragorn- the blade that was broken shall return to minas
tirith.
elrond- the one who can wield the power of this sword,
can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this earth. put aside
the ranger. become who you were born to be. take the dimholt road.
[aragorn blinks his
eyes and lowers the sword]
elrond- i gave hope to the men.
aragorn- i have kept no hope for myself.
[aragorn puts
andúril back to its sheath and heads out of the tent]
[aragorn fastening
his gear on brego's back]
[éowyn walks to
Aragorn.]
éowyn- why are you doing this?! the war lies to the
east, you cannot leave on the eve of battle!
[aragorn looks at
éowyn]
éowyn- you cannot abandon the men.
aragorn- éowyn...
éowyn- we need you here.
aragorn- why have you come?
[éowyn is silent for
a while and watches aragorn]
éowyn- do you not know?
[they look at each
other in silence]
[éowyn’s eyes
glisten with tears]
aragorn- it is but a shadow and a thought that you love. i
cannot give you what you seek.
[éowyn takes a few
steps back, looking heartsick]
[aragorn takes brego
and walks away, leaving éowyn to stand alone, with tears in her eyes]
[as aragorn is
walking towards the crack in the mountain, he is stopped by gimli]
gimli- just where do you think you’re going?
aragorn- not this time. this time you must stay, gimli.
[gimli, however,
doesn't agree and they are joined by legolas, leading his horse with him]
legolas- migosh, have you learned nothing of the
stubbornness of dwarves?
gimli- [agreeing] yeah….wait! what do you mean by
that?
legolas- nothing…
gimli- anyways, you might as well just accept it,
aragorn. we're going with you, laddie. one way or another.
[aragorn won't argue
with this and the three friends leave for the dimholt road]
[the men become
alarmed as they see aragorn leaving]
[king théoden comes
to see him go]
soldier 2- where's he going? i don't understand.
soldier 3- lord aragorn! [to the men] why does he leave on
the eve of battle?!
gamling- he leaves because there is no hope.
théoden- he leaves because he must.
gamling- too few have come. we cannot defeat the armies of
mordor.
théoden- no, we cannot. but we will meet them in battle
nonetheless.
[at dawn, éowyn is
standing alone outside, watching the sun rise and is joined by her uncle]
théoden- i have left instructions. the people are to
follow your rule in my stead.
[théoden turns
around and walks to stand before his serious-looking niece]
théoden- take up my seat in the golden hall. long may you
defend edoras if the battle goes ill.
éowyn- what other duty would you have me do, my lord?
théoden- duty? no...
[théoden walks
towards éowyn and takes her hands into his own]
théoden- i would have you smile again. not grief for those
whose time has come. you shall live to see these days renewed.
[théoden cups his
niece's face and presses their foreheads together]
théoden- no more despair.
[in dunharrow where
the men prepare to leave in a hurry]
[théoden and éomer
come out of a tent]
théoden- we must ride light and swift. it's a long road
ahead. the men and beast must reach the end with a strength to fight.
[elysa, too, is
ready to leave, but théoden won't take her with them]
théoden- little hobbits do not belong in war, elysa.
elysa- all my friends have gone to battle! i will be
ashamed to be left behind!
théoden- it is a three-day gallop to minas tirith and none
of my riders can bear you as a burden.
elysa- i want to fight, shit!
théoden- i will say no more.
elysa- [thinking] kiss my ass!
[théoden rides away,
leaving the pissed off elysa to stand and watch as the men ride past her]
[elysa is standing
there, one of the riders, dernhelm, who is really éowyn in disguise, picks
elysa
up from the ground
to ride with her]
éowyn- ride with me.
elysa- yeah!
éomer- form up! move out!
théoden- ride! ride now for gondor!
[the host of men
ride for gondor]
ACT VI
SCENE 1
[in minas morgul, gollum is leading the two
hobbits to the winding stairs]
[the three crouch next to the
road, right before the bridge, and look into the direction of the nazgûl city
that glows with eerie green light]
[everything is silent and no movement can be
seen anywhere]
gollum- the dead city. very
nasty place...full of...enemies!
[gollum glances at maryann, giving her a
meaningful look, then jumps up on the road]
[sharon and maryann follow]
gollum- quick! quick! they
will see! they will see!
[as the three sneak across the road, maryann
follows gollum who is already climbing the rocky wall, off the road]
[sharon, however, stops on the side of the road and stares
at one of the creepy statues, placed on both sides of the road where the
bridge, leading to the city gates, starts]
gollum- come away! come
away!
[slowly sharon turns and walks to maryann]
[the two look up to where gollum is sitting on
a rock, pointing at the stairs]
gollum- look, look, we've
found it: the way into mordor! the secret stairs.
[sharon and maryann look up the steep stairs,
cut in the rock wall]
sharon- shit! that’s high.
maryann- fuck this shit,
i’ll stay here.
sharon- [shocked]
wh-what? why?
maryann- come one, sharon do
you really think that i can climb that….
sharon- yeah.
maryann- what about my “afraid of heights” thing?
sharon- then don’t look
down…duh!
maryann- but…
sharon- no, buts!
gollum- [interrupts]
climb...!
maryann- no!
sharon- go!
maryann- man!
[the hobbits stare at the impossible-looking
stairs, but as maryann moves to climb them, sharon once again turns to look at
the dead city]
[sharon loses herself to the will of the ring
and slowly starts to stagger towards the bridge, unable to stop herself]
[with her right hand she is clutching the ring
and the a low, high-pitched voice of the ring
can be heard]
[farther away maryann and gollum finally see
what's going on]
maryann- [yelling at
sharon] no! sha!
gollum- not that way!!!
[gollum cries in terror as
sharon already staggers on the bridge, ignoring maryann and gollum who are
running after her]
gollum- what's it doing?!
[maryann hurries to sharon and grabs her by her
elven cloak, then pulls her back]
[sharon tries to resist, but is held back]
sharon- no!...they're
calling me...
[even gollum starts to pull at sharon’s hand to
keep her from walking to the gates of minas morgul]
[as they pull her back from the bridge, the air
is starting to fill with menacing rumble, coming from inside the city]
[the earth shakes and they all fall down]
[suddenly everything goes silent and then, with
a huge pressure wave-like sound, from the middle of the city, erupts a column
of green-blue light that goes straight to the cloud-filled sky]
[as sharon watches this, she brings her hand up
to clutch the ring around her neck]
[in minas morgul the earth shakes and thunder
sounds fill the air]
[sharon presses herself into maryann’s arms and
gollum tries to get off the road]
[sharon and maryann who have managed to hide
behind some rocks]
[maryann peeks from her hiding place and
sharon, pushes herself up to look into the direction of the city]
[the witch-king, riding his fell-beast, finally
comes out of minas morgul]
[sharon sees him, she suddenly slumps down,
clenching her teeth in pain]
[the wound on her shoulder, given by the
witch-king, aches]
[as the lord of the nazgûl lets out a
shattering scream, both hobbits cry out and cover their ears]
[the scream continues and continues, and sharon
is unable to keep her hands on her ears, the look on her face agonized, her
breathing ragged]
sharon- i can feel it and
it hurts!
[sharon grits her teeth and growls in pain as
the witch-king's scream sounds in the air]
[the gates of the city open and an army starts
to march out]
[the huge army marches forward along the
bridge, right past the place where sharon, maryann and gollum are hiding, watching the army]
[the witch-king sets out with his fell-beast
and as he flies right past the hobbits, they press their heads down]
gollum- hurry, hobbits! we
climb! we must climb!
[the three start to climb the stairs as the
army continues to march below them]
[high above minas morgul, sharon, maryann and
gollum are climbing the winding stairs]
[the steep stairs is a huge trial]
[as sharon climbs up, she almost falls, losing
her footing]
sharon- [terrified]
oh shit!
gollum- careful, master!
careful! very far to fall!
sharon- yea…duh, i know!
[gollum is the first one to finish climbing and
he pulls himself up to a small landing]
[gollum turns to look down at sharon and
maryann, who are still climbing]
gollum- very dangerous on
the stairs...
[finally sharon reaches the ledge]
[sharon tries to get a good grip to pull herself
up]
gollum- come, master!
[as sharon is trying to pull herself up, the
ring falls out from under her shirt]
[gollum watches it with gleaming eyes]
gollum- come to sméagol!
[slowly gollum reaches out with his right hand,
his fingers moving towards the ring around sharon’s neck]
[the call of the ring can be heard, not at all
enticing, but more like it's ordering gollum to take it]
[gollum almost has his hand on the ring when
maryann, right behind sharon, sees what gollum’s up to]
maryann- sharon!
[maryann pulls out her sword and gollum frowns
at her]
maryann- get back, you,
freak! don't you dare touch her!
[gollum is fighting with his urge to take the
ring, but at the last moment, grips sharon’s hand instead of the ring]
[sharon is pulled up over the edge by gollum]
gollum- why does she hates
poor sméagol?! what has sméagol ever done to her?!
maryann- [pissed] you
bit me! that’s what the hell you’ve done!
[maryann is still struggling in the stairs]
[gollum moves closer to sharon, who is lying on
the ground, catching her breath]
gollum- master...
[gollum strokes sharon’s arm and speaks with a
whispering voice]
gollum- [whispering]
master carries a heavy burden...sméagol knows...heavy, heavy burden...
[behind them, maryann is pulling herself up to
the landing]
gollum- the ugly one cannot
know.
sharon- [confused]
who?
gollum- [pointing at
maryann] her…
[gollum moves to lie beside sharon, gollum’s
face only inches away from sharon’s as he continues]
gollum- let sméagol look
after master.
[maryann, still partly over
the ledge, watches as gollum is whispering to the weary and mixed up sharon]
gollum- she wants it. she
needs it, sméagol sees it in her eyes!
[sharon is listening to gollum, already
starting to doubt maryann’s trustworthiness]
gollum- very soon she will
ask you for it! you will see!
[sharon's eyes are filled with doubt and
confusion]
gollum- the ugly one will
take it from you!
[sharon turns around, looking
at maryann with suspicion in her eyes, clutching the ring protectively]
sharon- she’s not ugly.
gollum- to us, she is.
[sharon, maryann and gollum are taking a rest
very high above minas morgul, on a small ledge on the cliff]
[maryann tries to keep and eye on gollum, but
finally sleeping takes over]
[gollum, who was only pretending to be asleep,
opens his eyes]
[gollum gets up, crawls down from where he was sleeping and
opens maryann’s bag and takes out the last pack of lembas bread]
gollum- ugh...
[gollum unwraps the pack and scatters some
crumbs on maryann’s elven cloak]
[gollum moves to the ledge and throws down the
pack of lembas bread and only seconds later, maryann awakes]
maryann- what the hell are
you up to?
[gollum turns, surprised]
maryann- sneakin' around,
are we?
gollum- s-sneaking? sneaking!?
ugly hobbit is always so polite. sméagol shows them secret ways that nobody
else could find, and they say sneak! sneak! very nice friend, oh yes, my
precious, very nice friend!
maryann- all right! all
right! you just startled me, that's all. and besides i’m not ugly.
[maryann looks down from where she is standing,
trying to see if anything looks suspicious]
maryann- what were you
doing, anyways?
gollum- ...sneaking.
maryann- fine. have it your
way then.
[maryann kneels down to wake up sharon]
maryann- wake up, sha. we
have to be moving on.
[slowly sharon gets up, her voice sounding
wearied]
sharon- it's dark still...
maryann- it's always dark
here.
[maryann looks into her bag,
finding nothing but the empty pack where their lembas bread used to be]
maryann- it's all gone! the
elven bread!
sharon- huh? what?! that's
all we have left!
maryann- i know.
[maryann stands up and turns
to look at gollum, who is squatting a little higher up, merely scratching his
head]
maryann- he took it! he must
have!
gollum- sméagol?! no, no,
not poor sméagol! sméagol hates nasty elf-bread.
maryann- you're a lying
punk! what the fuck did you do with it?!
[sharon looks at maryann with suspicion in her
eyes]
sharon- he doesn't eat it.
[sharon gets up and stands before maryann, a
frown on her face]
sharon- he couldn't have
taken it!
gollum- look! what's this?
[gollum wipes away the crumbs of lembas bread
from maryann’s shoulder]
gollum- crumbs on her
jacketses! she took it!
[sharon is starting to doubt maryann’s word and
looks at her with a confused expression on her face]
[maryann is speechless]
maryann- what? you believe
him over me?!
[gollum jumps down and kneels in sharon’s feet]
gollum- she took it! i've
seen her! she's always stuffing her face when master's not looking!
maryann- that's so not
true!!!
[with anger, maryann hits gollum and causes
herself to fall down]
[maryann gets down on her knees and starts to
strangle gollum]
maryann- you fuckin' two-faced little ass!
[sharon watches, confused, as maryann is
beating up gollum]
sharon- maryann! stop it!
maryann!
[sharon finally interferes and uses the little
strength she has to pull maryann away from gollum]
maryann- i'll kill him!
sharon- maryann! no!!!
[maryann accidentally hits sharon]
[sharon's eyes roll back and she sinks down on
the ground]
[maryann's looks back at sharon and puts her
hand on her shoulder]
maryann- oh no! i'm so
sorry! i didn't mean to hurt you! i was just so, so angry...
sharon- yeah i know!
[maryann, looking alarmed, watches sharon who
has spent all her strength]
maryann- here, j-just rest a
bit.
sharon- i'm alright.
maryann- no. no you're not
alright. you're exhausted. it's that freak, gollum! it's this place! it's that
thing around your neck!
[at the mention of the ring, sharon's eyes
widen and a frown rises on her face]
[slowly she turns to look at maryann, the look
on her face somewhat disgusted]
maryann- i could help a bit!
i could carry it for a while.
[sharon's narrow eyes as she watches maryann’s
words sounding suspicious in her mind]
maryann- i can carry it for
a while...i could carry it...carry it...share the load...the load...
[sharon watches maryann, the words echoing in
her mind and suddenly pushes maryann away]
sharon- get away!!
maryann- i don't wanna keep
it!
[angry and confused, sharon stands up and
watches maryann, who is sitting on the ground]
maryann- i just wanna
help...
[gollum, peeking from behind sharon's back,
gives maryann a satisfied and evil smile]
gollum- see! see! she
want's it for herself!
[sharon turns her face in
maryann's direction again, finally fully believing gollum's word over maryann]
maryann- shut the fuck up, you! go away!
[maryann stands up, receiving a mean grimace
from gollum]
maryann- get the fuck out of
here!
sharon- no, maryann...it's
you...
maryann- [confused]
what?!
[maryann slowly looks up to meet sharon's eyes,
not believing what she's hearing]
maryann- [pissed off]
wait…you believe this punk-ass over me.
sharon- i'm sorry, maryann...
maryann- but he's a liar! he
tried to turn you against me, and i guessed it worked!
sharon- you can't help me anymore.
maryann- [with an angry
face] ...you don't mean that...
sharon- from deep down, yes
i do!
[they look at each other in silence and with a
blank face]
sharon- go home.
maryann- huh? i can’t just
go home….we’re in this freakin’ book. if i go home, you have to go home too!
sharon- then stay…i don’t
care!
[maryann stands up and looks at sharon with an
angry look]
[sharon continues her journey without maryann]
maryann- [yelling with
anger] fine…leave then, be that way!
sharon- [yelling back]
fine!
[gollum has led sharon all the way up to the
entrance to shelob's lair]
[gollum squats on a rock, pointing his finger,
telling sharon to go inside]
gollum- there...
[sharon is looking into the dark tunnel,
holding her nose]
[the sound of wind and dropping water can be
heard from inside]
sharon- what is this place?
gollum- master must go
inside the tunnel.
sharon- now that i'm here,
i don't think i want to.
[sharon is about to step back and gollum is
getting nervous]
gollum- it's the only way!
go in...or go back.
sharon- i can't go back...
[the hobbit hesitantly enters the tunnel]
[gollum follows her, pleased that his plan is
working]
sharon- what's that smell?
gollum- orcse's
filth...orcses come in here sometimes.
[inside the tunnel it's very dark]
[the walls are covered with sticky web and
weird honeycomb-like shapes in the stone]
[sharon stumbles forward and gollum quickly
disappears, so that only his voice can be heard]
gollum- hurry!
[sharon’s breathing is getting rapid as she
realizes that her guide is nowhere to be seen]
sharon- sméagol??
gollum- ...over here!
[sharon fumbles in the dark, nothing in sight]
[sharon loses her footing and stumbles]
[as she leans against the stonewall, she
realizes it's sticky]
sharon- ah, shit! it's
sticky! eww…nasty! what is it?!
[sharon is scared, the growing panic visible in
her voice]
gollum- you will see...oh yesss, you will see...
[sharon stops and looks for gollum]
sharon- sméagol? sméagol!?
[there is no answer]
sharon- sméagol!!! where
the fuck are you?!
[sharon looks around her and sees no one]
[tears fill her eyes as she realizes gollum has
lead her into a horrible place and that she’s alone]
sharon- maryann...i’m
sorry, i’m so stupid!
[sharon remembers maryann, both remorse and
hate flash on her face]
[sharon steps forward and looks down]
[the floor is filled with bones]
[sharon’s breathing starts to quicken and she
looks around once more]
[sharon sees a carcass of a bird, hanging from
the ceiling, wrapped inside cobweb]
sharon- [disgusted]
lord god… that’s nasty!
[there are also cobwebbed orc bones hanging
next to the bird]
[sharon is startled as a menacing growl-like
sound is heard from somewhere in the tunnels]
[sharon starts to run but she stumbles in the
darkness]
[maryann,
still pissed off, is climbing down the winding stairs]
[maryann loses her footing and falls]
maryann- man, that hurted.
[maryann lands and turns to her right and she
sees the lembas bread that gollum threw away earlier]
[maryann picks up what's left of the lembas and
growls in even more anger as she realizes what gollum did]
maryann- man…i knew i was
right about that good-for-nothing bastard!
[maryann turns and looks up, intending to once
more climb up the stairs]
maryann- i hope sharon knows
what i’m doing for her!
[maryann puts a brave face on and starts to
climb]
[sharon is running in the dark tunnels, scared
for her life]
[as sharon is looking behind her back, she
stumbles and falls into a pile of sticky bones]
[sharon tries to scramble up but is caught in a
web]
[sharon cries as she stumbles in the cobweb and
piles of bones]
[sharon’s heart is filled with fear and she is
lying there, nearly paralyzed, she remembers the phial of galadriel]
[sharon could hear the voice of galadriel]
galadriel- and you,
sharon, i give you the light of eärendil, our most beloved star.
[sharon pulls out the phial, filled with the
crystal water]
[sharon holds it in her grip and watches as it
slowly begins to glow with a pale blue light]
[sharon hears the voice of galadriel once
again]
galadriel- may it be a
light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out...
[sharon closes her eyes and calms herself down]
[sharon utters out words and shines a light in
a dark place]
sharon- [elvish
speaking] hail eärendil brightest of the stars!
[as the phial of galadriel glows brightly in
sharon’s grip, the hobbit slowly turns to look behind her shoulder]
[sharon realizes there is something there and
jumps up]
[sharon is finally met by shelob and lets out a
cry of terror]
sharon- [terrified]
shit, that’s a big-ass spider!
[shelob swings her front legs and sharon falls
down on her back]
[the hobbit uses the light of eärendil to keep
shelob away from her]
[sharon falls down and shelob attacks]
[sharon is quick enough to pull out sting and
hurt shelob in one of her legs]
[this gives sharon time to get up and leave]
[sharon runs in the tunnels, not knowing where
she's going, shelob right behind her]
[suddenly sharon stumbles and falls down on her
stomach and rolls down through a hole]
[shelob is too big to get through]
sharon- [laughing]
you can’t get me.
[shelob tries to get through]
sharon- oh shit! gotta run!
[sharon then continues to run and keeps looking over her
shoulder, this causing her to run straight into one of shelob's webs]
[sharon gets stuck and hangs on the web, not
even her feet can touch the ground]
[sharon’s voice is filled with panic as she
realizes what happened]
[as she wriggles in the web, gollum lets her
know he was the one who lead her into this trap]
gollum- naughty little
fly...why does it cry?
[sharon looks behind her shoulder and sees that
shelob is already crawling behind her]
[gollum peeks from behind a stone]
gollum- caught in a web!
soon you'll be...eaten.
[sharon starts to furiously slash the web with
sting as she yells at gollum]
sharon- [yelling and
slashing] you sneaky son-of-a-bitch! you know…after i get out of here, i’m
going to kick your little ass.
[gollum realizes the hobbit might get away
before shelob gets to her and scuttles away]
sharon- [still yelling
and slashing] don’t you dare leave…i’m not done with you yet!
[at the very last moment sharon manages to
escape from the web and runs the
same way she saw gollum took off]
[sharon is finally outside, but as soon as she
lands on the ground, gollum attacks her]
sharon- oh…so you’re trying
to hurt me.
[gollum grabs sharon by her ears and bashes her
head into the stone wall]
gollum- got away, did it,
precious!! not this time!! not this time!!!
sharon- guess what…
gollum- what?
sharon- my turn!
[sharon punches gollum in the gut, then elbows
him on the neck]
sharon- want some more?
[gollum jumps on sharon, trying to snatch the
ring that hangs around sharon’s neck]
[the moment sharon sees this, she pushes gollum away with a
sudden rush of anger-given strength]
sharon- you trying to take
my ring, just like that…yeah right!
[sharon attacks gollum and truly kicks his ass]
[as sharon has her hands around gollum's neck,
the sméagol side comes forth]
gollum- it wasn't us! it wasn't us! sméagol wouldn't hurt master!
we promised!
sharon- yeah right…like i’m
actually gonna fall for that again.
[sharon still has her hands around gollum's
neck, the look on her face angry]
[sharon remains choking gollum, then she bangs
his head on the ground]
gollum- you must believe
usss! it was the precious! the precious made us do it!
sharon- [still banging
gollum’s head on the ground] uh-huh…right!
[gollum gives in, and sharon gets up]
sharon- i have to destroy it, sméagol...
[gollum looks at sharon with his big eyes,
raising up the hobbit's sympathy]
sharon- i have to destroy
it for both our sakes.
[as sharon starts to walk away, an angry
grimace rises to gollum's face and he quickly gets up and runs after sharon]
gollum- no!!!
[gollum jumps on sharon]
sharon- [trying to pull
him off] get off of me!
[the two fall down, but there is a black chasm
right next to them and gollum falls into it
over sharon’s shoulder]
[sharon watches him fall and finally gets up]
sharon- too bad for him.
[the escape from shelob and the fight with
gollum have consumed all her strength and sharon can barely stand, but still,
she staggers forward]
[sharon stops to lean against the stony wall,
her breathing heavy]
sharon- i'm so sorry, maryann...
[sharon, then loses her consciousness and
faints]
[but when she hits the ground, she is in the
woods of lothlórien, lying on a soft bed of moss and leaves]
[slowly she opens her eyes and sees galadriel,
standing before her]
galadriel- this task
was appointed to you, sharon. if you do not find a way, no one will.
[sharon watches as galadriel bends down with a
kind smile on her face, offering her hand]
[with a determined look on her face, the hobbit
takes the outstretched hand and galadriel pulls her up]
[when sharon stands on her feet, she is back at
cirith ungol]
[with new strength and determition, she
continues to walk]
[sharon has arrived at the stairs that lead to
the tower of cirith ungol]
[as sharon stops to take a breather, she leans
against a rock]
[shelob crawls out through a hole, and down on
the ground, sharon has no idea what's going on behind her back]
[the hobbit slowly sneaks towards the stairs,
making sure it's safe to proceed]
[shelob is crawling closer, taking support from
the surrounding rocks]
[shelob is right above sharon, still has no
idea what kind of danger she’s in]
[finally, as sharon is about to step on the
stairs, a sound of falling rocks, coming from behind her back which gets her
attention]
[sharon turns around and scans the area with
her eyes but sees nothing]
[more stones drop and sharon’s breathing is
starting to quicken]
[shelob lowers her stinger from behind sharon
when she was started to turn around]
[sharon had no time to react; shelob stabs her
quickly on her chest]
[sharon lets out a pained groan and jerks from
the hit, but doesn't fall]
[the look on sharon’s face is anguished and
shocked as her eyes continue to stare forward]
[for a while the hobbit stays on her feet]
[sharon groans as her mouth fills with foam,
shelob's poison taking effect]
[finally sharon falls down and shelob
immediately starts to wrap her into a cocoon of cobweb]
[when all is lost, maryann
comes to the rescue, holding sting and the phial of galadriel in her hands]
maryann- you let my sister
go!
[shelob most likely looks at maryann with her
many eyes and lets out a shriek]
maryann- let her go!!
[as shelob drops the cocooned sharon to the
ground, a hint of worry flashes on maryann’s face]
maryann- oh shit!
[maryann continues to point the light of
eärendil at shelob, determined to save her friend]
maryann- you will not touch
her ever again!
[shelob growls and maryann creeps closer]
maryann- come on, you huge spider…[thinking
aloud] in second thought…nevermind!
[maryann runs and shelob chases her]
[maryann manages to stop and defend for herself
and for sharon, she slashed one of shelob’s legs with sting, but that won't
stop ol’ shelob]
[shelob uses her legs to attack and sends
maryann flying through the air]
[when maryann hits the ground, the phial leaves
her grip, landing on a spot she can't reach]
[shelob comes towards maryann and kicks the
phial even further away]
[maryann is back on her feet but is pushed down
by shelob]
[maryann’s pressed against the rocky wall,
fighting with shelob's huge chaps]
[maryann manages to use her legs to kick her,
but shelob soon crawls back up and maryann is pulled down]
[maryann falls down to the ground and scrambles
back to her feet]
[shelob is circling around on the rocks above
maryann and finally jumps back down]
[maryann is still holding sting in her hand as
shelob rams her to the ground]
[furiously, maryann uses the sword and crushes
it in the middle of shelob's head, finally doing some damage]
[shelob backs off and maryann follows, trying
to hit her again, but this time shelob manages to get her jaws around maryann’s
hand]
[when shelob finally lets go, sting flies
through the air and lands behind maryann]
[shelob trips maryann down]
[maryann lands right next to sting, she reaches
for it but shelob steps on the blade]
maryann- you can’t do that...you’re a spider, man!
[maryann turns around and sees that she is
about to be stabbed with shelob's sting]
maryann- [terrified]
whoa…nevermind!
[quickly maryann rolls to the right and
narrowly manages to dodge the sting]
[several times, shelob tries to stab maryann]
[maryann keeps rolling on the ground, until she
finally gets sting back on her hands]
[the hobbit is lying directly under shelob’s
stomach and rams the blade through it]
[shelob is seriously hurt and starts to
wriggle]
[maryann picks up the phial and uses it to
drive shelob back to the darkness of her lair]
maryann- back, get back!
[shelob is having trouble
staying on her feet, but finally she disappears into her tunnel, never to be
seen again]
maryann- [singing and
dancing] oh snap, i did it, i did it…who’s number one? i am, i am…woot
woot!
[after maryann’s little victory cheer, she
finally thinks of sharon]
[maryann hurries to sharon, still wrapped in
the cocoon, lying before the stairs]
maryann- [sad] sha…?!
[maryann rips open the web around sharon’s
face]
[sharon’s skin is yellowish, blue lips, and her
eyes are open, staring into void, surrounded by dark rims]
[maryann stares at sharon, shocked]
[maryann tries to shake sharon awake, but it's
useless]
maryann- [crying]
sha…sha-sha…
[maryann takes the limp sharon into her arms,
tears falling from her eyes]
maryann- [crying] wake
up! [angry] don’t you dare leave me here alone, where you know i can’t
follow you…i said, ‘if i go home, you have to go home too! so don’t leave!
[maryann cries as she watches sharon’s lifeless
form in her arms]
maryann- love you, sis….wake
up!
[maryann’s face is filled with sorrow as she
begins to realize that sharon isn't sleeping]
maryann- you're not
asleep...you’re dead!
[maryann presses her teary cheek against the
crown of sharon’s head and rocks her in her arms]
[suddenly, sting, lying on the ground, starts
to glow blue]
[maryann is alarmed as she hears voices, coming
from the stairs]
gorbag- you get lost, scum!
[the orc and two uruks come down the stairs and
spot sharon, lying on the ground]
gorbag- what's this? looks like ol' shelob's been having a bit of
fun...
[farther away, maryann’s hiding behind the
rocks and listens to what the orcs are saying]
shagrat- killed another one,
has she?
gorbag- no...this fellow
ain't dead!
[maryann’s still listening in]
maryann- not dead?!
[gorbag tells shagrat how shelob feeds]
gorbag- she jabs her with
her stinger, and she goes as limp as a bonefish! then she has her way with
them...that's how she likes to feed! fresh blood! get her to the tower!
[gorbag, shagrat and an uruk leave and they
take sharon with them]
[maryann watches them leave]
maryann- oops, my bad…how
was i suppose to know that she wasn’t dead! grr!
[the orc and uruks talking]
shagrat- this scum will be
awake in a couple of hours.
gorbag- then she'll wish
she'd never been born
ACT VII
SCENE 1
[it is daytime and aragorn,
legolas, and gimli are making their way to the dark door, the entrance to the
paths of the dead]
gimli- what kind of army
would linger in such a place?
legolas- one that is cursed.
long ago the men of the mountain swore an oath to the last king of gondor…to
come to his aid, to fight. but when the time came, when gondor's need was dire,
they fled...vanishing into the darkness of the mountain...and so isildur cursed
them...never to rest, until they had fulfilled their pledge.
[the three of them finally
stand before the slope of dwimorberg, leading their restless horses towards the
entrance]
gimli- the very warmth of
my blood seems drawn away.
[legolas stops and stares at the entrance, then
reads what is written above]
legolas- ‘the way is
shut...it was made by those who are dead...and the dead keep it. the way is
shut.’
[a sudden blast of wind,
mingled with the cries of the dead, coming from inside scares away the horses]
aragorn- brego!
gimli- [at the horses]
chicken! [stops and thinks aloud] that sounds pretty good to me…let’s get some food!
legolas- no! how can you
speak of food at a time like this…
gimli- it ain’t my fault
i’m hungry!
[legolas turns to aragorn]
[aragorn turns to look at the entrance]
legolas- aragorn?
aragorn- i do not fear
death!
[aragorn walks in and disappears into the
darkness]
[legolas and gimli are left behind and watch in
terror]
[legolas is the next one to step in]
[only gimli remains outside]
gimli- well this is
something unheard of! i should’ve went with the horses….man. damn that elf, he
had to go underground, didn’t he! shit...i'll never hear the end of it!
[gimli finally enters the paths of the dead]
[aragorn, who is making his way forward inside
the underground realm, using a torch]
[legolas and gimli follow behind aragorn]
[finally they reach their destination]
[the three stop before the huge double doors
and they look around]
king of the dead-
who enters my domain?
[aragorn turns around and sees
the king appear in front of the steps, leading towards the doors]
aragorn- one who will have
your allegiance.
king of the dead-
the dead do not suffer the living to pass.
aragorn- you will suffer me!
[the king lets out a chilling laughter and
aragorn, legolas, and gimli turn to look around]
[the three see how the dead army turns visible
around them and starts to float towards them]
king of the dead-
the way is shut...it was made by those who are dead...and the dead keep it.
[the three look around them and see that they
are surrounded by the dead]
king of the dead-
the way is shut. now you must die.
[the king moves towards aragorn]
[legolas immediately fires an arrow, but it
flies through the king]
gimli- umm…smart one! you
should’ve know \n that your frickin’ arrow would go right through him…duh!
legolas- well it was worth a
shot!
[aragorn talks more to the king]
aragorn- i summon you to
fulfill your oath.
king of the dead-
none, but the king of gondor may command me!
[aragorn readies andúril for the strike]
[the king swings his sword but aragorn blocks
the blow and the blade of andúril is at the king's neck]
king of the dead-
the blade was broken!
aragorn- it has been
re-made.
[gimli jumps up in joy]
gimli- ah man, he got you
there. boo-yah!
[aragorn pushes the king back and the dead
remain silent and watch]
aragorn- fight for us and
regain your honor. what say you?
[the dead are silent and watch as aragorn walks
around them, holding out andúril]
aragorn- what say you?!
gimli- oh come one! don’t
you waste your time, aragorn! they had no honor in life, they have none now in
death.
aragorn- i am isildur's
heir. fight for me! and i will hold your oath fulfilled!
[the king merely smiles as aragorn points his
sword at him]
aragorn- what say you!?
[gimli grows impatient]
gimli- umm…are we gunna
get an answer, or what?
the king of the dead-
quiet!
aragorn- gimli…
legolas- so…
[the king of the dead thinks hard]
king of the dead-
we have an accord!
gimli – good!
ACT VIII
[sauron's huge armies march towards minas
tirith]
[they are very close and the air is filled with
their battle cries]
[huge trolls are beating drums as the troops
march forward]
[in minas tirith where the troops of sauron are
standing on the pelennor fields, ready for the battle]
[a lonely horse gallops toward the gates and a
wounded faramir is being dragged along with the animal]
gondorian guard-
open the gate! quick!
[faramir is unconscious and has two arrows
pointing out from his chest]
[the gates are closed and the men bend down to
help their wounded captain]
[outside the walls the orcs prepare to fire the
catapults]
[the ugly orc leader arrives with a warg and
looks around, a pleased expression on his face]
gondorian guard-
quick, hurry!
[denethor storms out to the yard and runs to
faramir]
denethor- faramir!
[the gondorian soldiers lower faramir to the
ground, next to the white tree and denethor kneels beside him]
denethor- say not that he has
fallen!
gondorian guard-
they were outnumbered. none survived.
[farther away, katie is watching the situation,
a frown on her face]
gothmog:- fear...the city is
rank with it. let us ease their pain. release the prisoners!
orc- catapults!
[as the catapults are fired, the people inside
the city receive a horrible surprise]
[the orcs are shooting the heads of the
soldiers that rode to osgiliath with faramir]
[up on the highest level, the grief is getting
to denethor's sanity]
denethor- my sons are
spent...
[the steward steps back from his son and katie
runs to faramir]
denethor- my line has ended!
[katie places her hand on faramir's forehead]
katie- he's alive!
denethor- [talking to
himself] the house of stewards has failed!
katie- he needs medicine,
my lord!!!
[denethor won't listen to the hobbit]
[denethor is blinded by his sorrow and despair]
denethor- [still talking
to himself] my line has ended!!!
katie- dude?!
[denethor walks to the edge and looks down]
[denethor stares at the mass of sauron's forces
below]
[the trolls are placing huge boulders into the
catapults]
denethor- rohan has deserted
us...
[the catapults are fired and the boulders hit
the city and its towers, which come crumbling down]
[the people start panicking and run out to the
streets]
denethor- théoden's betrayed
me...
[denethor's madness and despair seems to
deepen]
[more boulders are fired at the city and
civilians are killed]
denethor- abandon your
post!!! flee! flee for your life!!!
[the soldiers look at each other, confused]
[as denethor turns around, he receives a blow
from gandalf's staff and falls down, unconscious]
gandalf- prepare for battle!
[gandalf rides through the streets with
shadowfax]
gandalf- pull them in! to
the wall! return to your posts!
[the fleeing soldiers follow the wizard up to
the wall and prepare for battle]
[gandalf sits on shadowfax's back and looks
down onto the fields, filled with thousands of orcs and other beasts from
mordor]
gandalf- send these foul
beast into the abyss!
[the soldiers launch their catapults and fire
boulders at the enemy]
[the orcs watch as the stones land on their
fellow fighters and intend to move but their leader won't allow them to]
gothmog- stay where you are.
[they return the fire and more boulders hit the
city of minas tirith]
soldier 1- watch out!
soldier 2- down to the
lower level! quick!
[katie, wearing her helmet, is running with the
flow]
[more stones are fired at the orcs]
[both sides are on the receiving end]
[as a huge stone is about to land on the
gothmog, he stands still until the last moment]
[gothmog spits on the boulder and at the same
moment the nazgûl arrive with their fell-beasts]
[the nazgûl fly and circle around the city,
causing lots of damage as they go]
[the witch-king of angmar is with them]
[the soldiers are terrified at the sight of the
nazgûl and so is katie]
[katie covers her ears as the cry of the black
riders sounds in the air]
[gandalf is walks along the wall]
gandalf- hold them back! do
not give into fear! return to your post!
[a boulder hits one of the siege towers, and
its passengers fall down]
[the nazgûl keep attacking the city and more
men end up dead]
[the fell-beast use their claws to snatch the
men and then drop them to the ground]
[katie is terrified and tries to run with the
crowd but is pushed down and she falls]
[on the walls, the archers are firing their
arrows]
gandalf- aim for the trolls!
kill the trolls!
[the
trolls receive a shower of arrows, but one of the siege towers has been pushed close
enough and the orcs start to enter the city through the walls]
gandalf- fight them back!
[gandalf turns around and sees katie, walking
towards him, looking like she's sleepwalking]
gandalf- kathryn took! go
back to the city! now!
katie- huh?…you called us
out here to fight...
[sauron's troops swarm onto the walls and one
of the orcs runs towards katie]
[the hobbit panics but gandalf comes to the rescue and fights the
orc, saving katie]
gandalf- this is no place
for a hobbit!
katie- good thing i’m not
a hobbit, right?
gandalf- [smiles]
correct.
[gandalf continues to fight, using his staff
and sword]
[gandalf doesn't see that an orc is about to
attack him from behind, but katie pulls out her sword and at the last moment,
kills the orc]
[katie stares at her bloody sword]
katie- [smiles]
man…that felt good!
gandalf- what?!
[gandalf turns to look at katie, his tone of
voice filled with both pride and surprise]
gandalf- guard of the
citadel in deed! now back, up the hill! quick! quick!
[katie does as she is told and leaves]
[on the fields, we see huge, rhino-like
creatures pulling grond, the battering ram]
[gandalf sees this from the wall]
[the look on gandalf’s face is serious as the
grond is pulled towards the gates of the white city]
[minas tirith where the siege continues]
[the huge trolls are pulling at ropes to use
grond]
[grond hits the gate of minas tirith, but it
won't give in yet]
[gandalf is riding with shadowfax, shouting
orders to the men]
gandalf- back to the gate!
hurry!
[the remaining soldiers hurry to the gate with
gandalf]
[as the grond keeps hitting the gate, they
ready their weapons]
SCENE 5
[up in the highest level, katie runs past the
white tree and sees the cavalcade that carries faramir, led by denethor]
[cavalcade are on their way to the silent
street]
[denethor pushes open the double doors and
steps in]
denethor- no tomb for
denethor and faramir. no long, slow sleep of death in blamed. we shall burn like the heathen kings of old!
bring wood and oil!
[down
at the gate, grond is making progress and the men wait with their spears and
shields ready]
gandalf- steady! steady!
[one
final hit and the grond breaks through the gate of the white city, its fiery
jaws making the men withdraw]
gandalf- you're soldiers of
gondor! no matter what comes through that gate, you will stand your ground!
[as the gates are opened, huge beasts of mordor
step through and into the city, waving their spiky hammers]
[the look on gandalf's face shows surprise and
shock]
[the men have no chance against the big beasts
and are quickly smashed and thrown on the walls]
gandalf- volley!!! fire!
[the archers release their arrows, but make
little difference]
[the beasts keep attacking and more men end up
dead]
[with gandalf's help, one of the beasts falls
down, most likely dead]
[as the gates are now broken, sauron's forces
storm inside, killing as they go]
[in minas tirith, katie runs after denethor and
the cavalcade]
[the nearly dead faramir is placed on top of a
pyre, yet to be set on fire]
[faramir has his eyes closed and is
unconscious, but as the men lower him down on the woods, he groans silently,
that he is alive]
[no one hears faramir’s groans]
[the soldiers bring more wood to the pyre and
katie sneaks inside]
denethor- house of his spirit
crumbles. he is burning.
[denethor strokes faramir's cheek, his face
mere inches away from his son's but he either ignores or fails to hear the low
groans from faramir]
denethor- already burning!
[katie runs to the pyre]
katie- i told you…he’s not
dead!
[denethor glances at the hobbit, a dark
expression on his face as katie starts to pull at the woods in the pyre]
katie- he's not dead!!!
damnit
[denethor comes and grabs katie by her collar,
dragging the hobbit out of the silent street, ignoring katie's struggling]
katie- don’t touch me….i
told you he's not dead! get off of me!
denethor- hear now, kathryn
daughter of...
katie- hah…you forgot my
father’s name…mua hahaha…but still let me go!
denethor- i release you from
my service. go now and die in what way seems best for you.
katie- [yelling]
man…faramir is not dead…i tell you, not dead!
[katie is thrown on the floor and denethor
closes the double doors, leaving the hobbit outside]
katie- damn you!
[inside the silent street]
denethor- pour oil on the
wood!
[katie goes to look for gandalf]
katie- gandalf!
[the soldiers run around the hobbit as she
calls for the wizard]
katie- [yelling]
damn…where is that wizard at? gandalf! gandalf!
[the fiery boulders are catapulted into the
city and buildings crumble down]
gandalf- retreat! the city
is breached! pull back! to the second level!
[the streets are in chaos, men fleeing, fiery
boulders rolling here and there]
gandalf- get the women and children out! get them
out! retreat!
[gothmog demands the sauron’s forces to move
in]
gothmog- move into the city.
kill all in your path.
[the forces of sauron swarm inside the city,
killing soldiers and civilians as they go]
gandalf- fight! fight to the
last man! fight for your lives!
[gandalf, sitting on shadowfax's back, stops as
he hears a horn blowing on the fields of pelennor]
[even the gothmog stops and turns to look at
what's coming]
[at the break of dawn arrive the riders of
rohan stop with their horses and stare at the number of sauron's forces in
front of minas tirith]
[éowyn, disguised as dernhelm, elysa with her]
[éowyn and elysa both stare wide eyed]
[éowyn places her arm around elysa]
éowyn- courage, elysa,
courage for our friends.
elysa- huh, yeah…whatever!
[gothmog looks at the riders of rohan]
gothmog- form ranks, you
maggots! form ranks!
[the orcs start to march towards théoden and
his men]
[théoden rides in front of the long line of
riders]
théoden- éomer! take your
éored down the left flag! gamling, follow the king's banner down the center!
grimbold, take your company right, after you pass the wall! forth! down fear of
darkness! arise! arise, riders of théoden!
[as théoden rides past her, éowyn hides her
face]
théoden- spears shall be
shaken, shields shall be splintered!
[théoden rides before his men]
théoden- a sword day...a red
day...and the sun rises!
[the riders point out their spears and before
the white city, the orc kneel down, doing the same]
éowyn- [to elysa]
what ever happens, stay with me. i'll look after you.
elysa- ok.
[the king rides past his men, hitting their
spears with his sword as he goes]
théoden- ride now…ride
now...ride! ride for ruin and the world's ending!
[théoden stops and prepares to face sauron's
army]
théoden- death!
rohirrim- death!
[éowyn takes a deep breath, trying to calm
herself]
théoden- death!
rohirrim- death!
théoden- death!!!
éowyn and elysa-
death!!!
théoden- forth, eorlingas!
[as the sun rises, the rohirrim blow into their
horns and they ride]
gothmog- fire!
[the orcs fire their arrows and some riders and
their horses fall down, dead, but the rohirrim rides on]
théoden- death!!!
gothmog- fire at will!
[more arrows are shot but the rohirrim rides on
and the look on the gothmog’s' face turns serious for the first time]
[the orcs start to retreat as the rohirrim ride
towards them]
[finally they clash. spears are thrown and orcs
get trampled by the horses]
[inside the city, katie runs to gandalf]
katie- gandalf! gandalf!
denethor has lost his mind! he's burning faramir alive!
gandalf- come!
[gandalf lifts katie up and together they leave
to help faramir]
[denethor, who is soaking himself with oil,
standing on the pyre.]
[denethor looks down at his son, who is
drenched in oil]
[faramir's face twitches, but denethor doesn't
pay any attention to this]
denethor- set a fire in our
flesh.
[denethor stands on the pyre, his son lying on
his feet as the soldiers approach them with torches]
[at the very last moment, shadowfax kicks the
double doors open and interrupts the outcome of denethor's madness]
gandalf- stay this madness!
[denethor snatches a torch from one of the
soldiers and turns to look at gandalf]
[denethor
throws down the torch and the pyre lights up in fire]
[katie watches in horror and gandalf quickly
takes a spear from one of the guards and rides toward the pyre]
[gandalf hits denethor with the spear and sends
him flying down to the floor]
[faramir remains in the flames and katie jumps
into the pyre to help him]
[the hobbit uses all her strength to push the
man out of the flames and finally succeeds]
[faramir falls down to the ground, katie with
him]
[quickly katie puts out the flames in faramir's
clothes, but at the same moment denethor gets up and in the state of madness
attacks katie]
denethor- nooooo!!! you will
not take my son from me!
[katie cries out as denethor, already caught in
flames, grips her]
katie- get your hands off
of me…man!
[gandalf quickly interferes and makes shadowfax
hit denethor with his hooves, sending him into the pyre]
[as denethor lays in the flames, he glances at
his son and realizes that he is alive]
[faramir opens his eyes slightly and watches
his father]
denethor- faramir...
faramir- you should’ve listened
to katie.
[as denethor realizes what he has done, it is
already too late for him]
[denethor is caught in the fire and jumps down
from the pyre and runs out of the silent street, past the white tree and down
from the edge, falling into his death]
gandalf- so passes denethor, son of ecthelion.
[outside on the fields of pelennor the battle
between the rohirrim and the orcs continues]
[the orcs retreat]
[théoden, éomer, elysa and éowyn use their
weapons and orcs fall down, dead]
éomer- drive them back to
the river!
théoden- make safe this
city!
[suddenly everything stills]
[the mûmakil arrive]
[théoden and his men watch as the huge beasts
of haradrim march toward them in a line]
[one of the mûmak commanders sounds his horn
and the line moves on, toward the city]
[the rohirrim stare at the sight, their horses
nervous]
théoden- re-form the line!
re-form the line!
[the riders take their position in the line and
prepare to fight the haradrim]
[the enemy gets closer and the ground shakes]
théoden- sound the charge!
[gamling blows into his horn]
théoden- charge!
[as gamling's horn sounds in the air, the
rohirrim rush toward the enemy]
[they clash and many riders fall dead as the
mûmakil use their gigantic tusks, covered with spikes, as their weapon]
[the mûmakil huge feet stamp everything on
their way]
[men fly in the air and the mûmakil march
forward]
[the haradrim shoot their arrows, killing more
théoden's men]
[the fields are in chaos and the riders of
rohan are on the losing side]
[éomer, who stops and turns to face the mûmakil
and its commander coming after him]
[éomer readies his spear and at the last moment
throws it at the mûmak commander, who falls down, dead]
[the man doesn't hit the ground, but hangs from
his bridle, making the mûmak turn left]
[the animal moves blindly to the direction he
feels the bridle order him and collides with another mûmak, causing them both
to fall down]
elysa- two down and
a lot more to go…
éowyn- take the reins!
pull left!
elysa- huh?
[éowyn takes elysa's sword as they ride amid
the mûmakil]
éowyn- left!
[elysa takes control of the horse]
[as they ride under one mûmakil's stomach,
éowyn uses the two swords to wound the animal's feet, causing it to fall down]
[éomer continues to fight]
éomer- aim for the head!
[éomer shoots his arrows and one of the mûmakil
rises to its hind legs, causing its riders to fall down from its back]
théoden- bring it down!
bring it down! bring it down!
[more mûmakil fall down and the ground shakes]
[the horse éowyn and elysa are riding falls
down as well, sending elysa and éowyn flying from its back]
elysa- whoa!
[a mûmakil is about to fall on éowyn, but at
the last moment she manages to roll away]
éowyn- elysa!
[inside the city, the people are running from
sauron's forces as the nazgûl fly around the city again]
[everything looks hopeless as the enemy tries
to break the gate the men are defending]
[further away, gandalf and katie are sitting
together, watching the destruction]
[the hobbit turns to look at gandalf]
katie- i don't want it to
end this way...
gandalf- end? no, the
journey doesn't end here. death is just another path...one that we all must
take.
[katie listens and watches gandalf, as he
continues]
[all sounds of the surrounding battle quiet
down]
gandalf- the grey
rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all change to silver glass...
[there is a little smile on katie's face]
gandalf- ...and then you see
it.
katie- huh? what? gandalf?
...see what? i’m confused!
gandalf- white shores...and
beyond. the far green country under a swift sunrise.
[they both smile as they look at each other]
katie- well, that’s not so
bad.
gandalf- no...no it isn't.
[the two become aware of the surrounding battle
once more as the enemy bangs at the gate]
[gandalf gives the hobbit a little nod and
katie closes her eyes, tightening her hold on her sword]
[in the fields of pelennor where the mûmakil
and haradrim continue to cause destruction]
théoden- rally to me! to me!
[théoden stops and slowly turns his head and
sees the witch-king of angmar flying right toward him]
[théoden simply stares as the nazgûl's
fell-beast comes and takes him and his horse with its jaws]
[further away éowyn watches in horror as the
fell-best pulls about her uncle, finally throwing him to the ground]
[théoden gets trapped under his horse]
[the witch-king guides his fell-beast to the
broken king]
witch-king- feast on his
flesh.
[the fell-beast gets closer and théoden is
unable to do nothing but move his arms]
[the fell-beast watches as éowyn comes to stand
between the nazgûl and the king]
éowyn- i will kill you if
you touch him!
witch-king- do not come
between the nazgûl and his prey.
[éowyn stands with her sword ready and the
fell-beast attacks]
[éowyn cries out in pain and manages to slash
with her sword, cutting off the creature's head]
[the headless beast falls to the ground, the
witch-king still on its back]
[éowyn picks up a wooden shield from the
ground, preparing to face the nazgûl]
[finally the lord of the nazgûl stands up and
turns to look at the one who killed his fell-beast]
[in the witch-king’s hand he has his sword and
in the other, a huge spiky sledge-hammer]
[éowyn stares at the weapon in the witch-king's
hand, her eyes wide with fear]
[trapped under his horse, théoden watches as
éowyn ducks the hit from the nazgûl's sledge-hammer]
[many times the witch-king swings with his
weapon and éowyn keeps dodging, until it finally hits her shield, shattering it
to pieces]
[éowyn cries out in pain and falls on her back,
holding her arm]
[elysa, who is finally getting up from the
ground after their horse threw them from its back]
[elysa picks up her sword and sees éowyn,
facing the witch-king alone]
[éowyn is still lying on the ground, her back
against théoden's horse]
[éowyn watches with fear visible on her face as
the lord of the nazgûl twines his iron fingers around her neck, lifting her up
from the ground]
witch-king- fool...no
man can kill me...die now...
[as éowyn hangs in the nazgûl's death-grip,
elysa comes forth from behind]
[elysa slashes with her sword, hitting the
witch-king in his knee]
[the nazgûl lets out a scream, falls to his
knees and drops éowyn to the ground]
[elysa cries out in pain and holds her hand]
elysa- [in pain]
ow…
[éowyn gets up to her feet and stands before
the witch-king]
[éowyn removes her helmet, her long golden hair
flowing in the air, finally revealing her true identity]
éowyn- i am no man!
elysa- neither am i…[holding
her hand] ow…
[with a shout, éowyn crushes her sword to where
the nazgûl's face would be]
[the witch-king of angmar begins to writhe, as
if he is being crumpled from the inside and éowyn lets go of the sword]
[éowyn
falls to her knees and watches as the nazgûl perishes, his armor falling
empty to the ground]
[éowyn crawls to her dying king, trapped under
his own horse]
[théoden opens his eyes and looks at his niece]
théoden- i know your
face...éowyn.
[éowyn smiles, tears in her eyes]
théoden- my eyes darken.
éowyn- no...no, i am going
to save you.
théoden- you already did.
éowyn, my body is broken. you have to let me go...
[éowyn parts her lips but says nothing]
[éowyn continues to stroke her uncle's hair as
he speaks]
théoden- i go to my fathers
in whose mighty company i shall not now feel ashamed.
[the two look at each other and théoden finally
says his last words]
théoden- éowyn...!
[éowyn watches as the king dies]
[tears start to roll from éowyn’s eyes and she
presses her head down and cries aloud]
[along the river arrive the black ships]
orc- late as usual!
pirate scum! there's enough work here that needs doing. come on, you sea-rats!
get off your ships!
[the orcs are in for a big surprise.]
[instead of pirates, aragorn, legolas, and
gimli jump out from the ship]
gimli- there's plenty for
the both of us. may the best dwarf win!
legolas- you mean elf,
right…
gimli- let’s do this!
[as aragorn, legolas, and gimli move on with
their weapons ready, the army of the dead floats out from the ships]
[together they attack the surprised orcs]
legolas- [laughing] 15, 16...
[gimli does the same with his axe]
gimli- 17...[thinking]
i’m beating him!
[aragorn uses andùril to kill all the foes that
come his way]
[from the back of aragorn, the dead army are
fighting as well]
gimli- 29!
[aragorn looks at the huge creatures]
aragorn- legolas!
[the elf turns and sees a mûmak, coming right
at him]
[legolas seems to take a moment to think, then
makes his decision]
[legolas runs toward the beast and swiftly
climbs up its spike-covered tusk]
[as the mûmak continues to march forward,
legolas is hanging on his left side foreleg, then swings himself to the hind
leg]
[legolas uses the arrows, sticking out of the
animal's leg, to climb up to its back]
[once legolas is on his feet again, he
continues to fire his arrows]
legolas- 33, 34...
[the haradrim jump down from the platform on
the mûmak's back, but legolas sends them all down]
[the elf then grabs hold of the rope that holds
the platform and swings on the right side]
[legolas cuts the rope causing the platform to
fall down, pulling him up to the animal's back]
[the mûmak continues to walk and legolas takes
out three arrows and fires them into the animal's skull]
[this causes its forelegs to give in and it
falls down, dead]
[legolas slides off the trunk, landing on he is
own two feet on the ground in front of gimli]
gimli- that still only
counts as one!
legolas- you suck! but i’m
still counting that…
[aragorn finishes off a couple more orcs and
looks over the battlefield]
[they are on the winning side]
[the dead take down a mûmak and then move into
the city]
[the troops of mordor have lost the battle]
[the siege of minas tirith has finally ended]
[the silent fields of pelennor are filled with
dead enemies and allies, but finally the clouds part and sunlight hits the
ground]
[gandalf and katie make their way to aragorn]
[aragorn is standing before the army of the
dead who wait to be released]
king of the dead-
release us.
gimli- bad idea! very
handy in a tight spot, these lads, despite the fact they're dead.
king of the dead-
you gave us your word!
aragorn- i hold your oath
fulfilled. go, be at peace.
[with a peaceful smile on his face, the king of
the dead closes his eyes and he and his men are finally free]
[the dead army disappear with the wind]
[katie is walking around the battlefield and
suddenly her eyes catch something familiar]
[the hobbit rushes over to a dead mûmak, kneels
down and moves away a dead orc]
[katie has found elysa]
[the katie takes her friend in her arms]
katie- elysa! elysa, it's
me!
[slowly elysa opens her eyes, looking very
wearied]
[katie is holding her in her arms, crying]
katie- you’re alive…oh
thank god!
elysa- man…i’m doing
ok…don’t be so worried!
katie- okay.
elysa- i want to go home…
katie- no, elysa. we can’t
not without sharon and maryann.
elysa- damn them!
[katie covers her friend with a blanket and
stays by her side]
ACT IX
SCENE 1
[in minas tirith,
inside the throne room]
gandalf-
sharon has passed beyond my sight. the darkness is deepening.
aragorn-
if sauron had the ring, we would know it.
katie-
[confused] we would?!
elysa-
i didn’t know that.
gandalf-
it is only a matter of time...
[everyone in the room
are silent and listens to gandalf]
gandalf-
he has suffered a defeat, yes...but ...behind the walls of mordor the enemy is
re-grouping.
[gimli, who sitting
on the chair of the steward, smoking his pipe, lets gandalf know his opinion]
gimli-
let them stay there...let them rot! why should we care?
gandalf-
because ten thousand orcs now stand between sharon and mount doom.
gimli-
oh.
[once again everyone
goes quiet as gandalf walks around the room]
gandalf-
i've sent her to her death...
aragorn-
no...there's still hope for sharon. she needs time, and safe passage across the
plains of gorgoroth. we can give her that.
gimli-
how?
aragorn-
let’s think..
elysa and katie-
think, think, think…
katie-
nada.
elysa-
nope, nothing! sorry!
aragorn-
we can draw out sauron's armies, empty his lands. then we gather our full
strength and march on the black gate.
[gimli coughs as he
hears aragorn's words]
éomer-
we can not achieve victory through strength of arms.
katie-
don’t be worry wart.
[aragorn continues]
aragorn-
not for ourselves...but we can give sharon her chance, if we keep sauron's eye
fixed upon us!
[aragorn turns to
look at gandalf as he continues]
aragorn-
keep him blind to all else that moves.
legolas-
a diversion.
katie-
let’s do it!
elysa-
alright!
[gandalf walks to
stand beside aragorn]
gandalf-
sauron will suspect a trap. he will not take the bate.
katie-
come on…
elysa-
it’s worth a shot.
gimli-
certainty of death! small chance of success! what are we waiting for?!
elysa-
let’s do this, woohoo!
[the remaining soldiers of gondor and rohan
ride out of the white city, aragorn leading
them, with his friends by his side]
[aragorn and the soldiers head to the black
gate of mordor]
[aragorn leads his men forward and they finally
arrive at their destination]
[aragorn and the rest of his allies have
arrived at the black gate of mordor]
[the gates is still closed, everything is
silent and they wait]
[at the black gate which remains closed]
katie- man, i’m
bored. are they ever gunna come out?
elysa- be patient,
geez..
[later, aragorn, gandalf, the two hobbits,
legolas and gimli and éomer ride to the black gates]
aragorn-
let the lord of the black land come forth! let justice be done upon him!
[for some time everything is silent and they
all watch and wait]
[then, the black gate finally starts to open]
[as the gates open, aragorn and the others are
able to see the sauron's remaining army, marching towards them]
aragorn-
pull back...pull back!
[aragorn and the others ride away from the
gates]
[aragorn rides in front of the remaining troops
of the gondorian soldiers and the riders of rohan]
aragorn-
[shouting to the troops] hold your ground! hold your
ground! sons of gondor, of rohan. my brothers and…[looks at katie and
elysa] my sisters. i see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart
of me! a day may come, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our
friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day! an hour of
wolves and shattered shields when the age of men comes crashing down! but it is
not this day! this day we fight! by all that you hold dear on this good earth,
i bid you, stand, men of the west!
[the mass of sauron's army is marching towards
them and aragorn sways his sword, preparing to face them]
[aragorn and the others are completely
surrounded by sauron's army]
[the situation looks hopeless]
[aragorn, with gandalf, legolas, gimli, elysa
and katie by his side watches as the troops march forward]
[katie draws out her sword and elysa watches as
the troops of sauron surround them]
elysa- man! this is not
good!
katie- not good at all…
gimli- don’t say that young
one. we’ll survive this.
katie- huh? oh…
legolas- are you guys ready?
elysa and katie-
yeah!
gimli- i never thought i'd
die fighting side by side with an elf.
legolas- well, what about
side by side with a friend?
elysa- no…make it three
friends!
gimli- aye, i could do
that.
katie- alright!
[the battle is about to start]
[the eye of sauron is staring straight at
aragorn, calling him]
sauron- aragorn,
elessar...
[all the other sounds quiet down as aragorn
slowly steps forward]
[gandalf and the others look at him as sauron
continues to whisper at aragorn]
[for some time aragorn stares at the eye, then,
slowly turns around to look at gandalf and his friends]
[the look on the wizard's face is serious, but
as aragorn looks at them, a smile rises to his lips]
aragorn-
for sharon and maryann!
[aragorn charges towards sauron's army, andùril
in his grip]
[katie and elysa do the same and the others
soon follow]
elysa and katie-
[yelling] for everyone!
[the final battle for middle-earth has begun]
[aragorn, legolas, gimli, and the hobbits
reusing their weapons]
[the nazgûl and their fell-beast arrive]
[gandalf successfully uses glamdring, his
sword]
[gandalf stops as he sees one of the nazgûl
dive right toward him]
[gandalf
stays still and watches as a moth flies past him]
[the eagles have arrived]
[just as the fell-beast is about to get to
gandalf, an eagle attacks it]
katie- [yelling]
birds…big birds…the eagles!
elysa- [yelling]
the eagles are coming!
[the rest of the eagles arrive and immediately
attack the nazgûl]
[aragorn stops and turns to look behind his
back, seeing a huge beast of mordor,
coming right at him]
[aragorn uses andùril against his enemy]
[aragorn is losing the fight with the huge
beast and gets thrown to the ground]
[legolas sees this, the look on his face
alarmed]
[aragorn is lying on the ground]
[slowly he turns his head and sees the huge
beast walking right towards him]
[legolas is desperately trying to get to his
friend but is surrounded by too many enemies]
[legolas calls for aragorn, but aragorn did not
hear.]
[aragorn gets crushed under the heavy foot of
the mordor beast]
[aragorn takes out his dagger and sinks it into
the foot, pressing against his chest]
[all of sauron's forces flee]
[gandalf and all the others turn to look at the
destruction of sauron and his land]
[clouds gather above the fortress of barad-dûr
as the tower begins to fall and crumble down]
[the eye burns brightly and glances around as
it comes down with the falling peak]
[gandalf has a tear in his eye as he watches
the end of sauron]
[finally the eye contracts and in the end
disappears with a great explosion, sending a huge pressure wave across the
lands of mordor]
[the earth grumbles and cracks, leaving nothing
but abyss]
elysa- [glad]
alright, sharon!
[everyone rejoices and the pressure wave
travels on, swallowing all of sauron's forces into the abyss]
legolas-
[thinking] she did it!
[the orcs flee as the towers of the teeth come
crumbling down]
[orodruin belches out its fiery contents as it
is destroyed]
[the look on everyone's face darkens as they
realize sharon and maryann is there]
ACT X
SCENE 1
[in cirith ungol lies sharon, still unconscious, her hands bound and torso naked
with only her bra]
[the voices of the orcs sound from downstairs
and sharon is lying on the floor]
[behind her back are gorbag and shagrat, going
through sharon’s things]
[suddenly sharon’s body jerks and she lets out
a little moan as her eyes flutter open]
[sharon senses the orcs behind her back. gorbag
is fiddling with the mithril shirt]
shagrat- hands off! that
shiny shirt! that's mine!
gorbag- it's going to the
great eye! along with everything else.
[sharon’s breathing quickens ass he is
listening to the orcs]
[sharon feels her chest and realizes the ring
is gone]
shagrat- i don't take orders
from stinking morgul rats!
[gorbag points his weapon at shagrat]
gorbag- you touch it and
i’ll stick this blade in your gut!
[shagrat and gorbag get into a fight with each
other and sharon lies still]
[gorbag falls onto the hole in the floor and
shagrat kicks him through]
[as gorbag rolls down the stairs, the other
orcs stop what ever they were doing and look up]
shagrat- the scum tried to
knife me! kill him!
[all the orcs get into a fight]
[maryann, who has finally managed to climb the
stairs and has arrived at the tower]
[holding sting, maryann leans against a rock
wall and looks into the direction of the tower, listening to the sounds of
battle]
[slowly maryann makes her way to the entrance,
guarded by the two Guards]
[with the help of galadriel's phial, maryann manages to get inside the
tower]
[the orcs have killed each other in their
engagement and everything is silent]
[maryann starts to run upstairs]
[maryann stops as she hears orcs ahead, coming
down the stairs]
[maryann gathers up her courage, holding sting
and continues to climb the stairs]
[maryann shadow is cast on the wall and she
growls menacingly]
[the orcs stop and start to withdraw as they
see the shadow on the wall, looking like some great monster]
[the orcs attack when maryann comes to view and
they realize she is just a hobbit]
[maryann charges and uses sting]
maryann- that's for sharon!
[maryann continues to fight the orcs and is
winning]
maryann- that’s for me!
[finally the last orc falls down, dead]
maryann- and that's for no
freakin’ reason!!
[maryann continues all the way up to the
highest part in the tower where sharon is being held captive]
[sharon, still lying on the floor, half naked]
[sharon hears someone climbing the ladder in
the hole and starts to fight the binds around her wrists]
[finally the snaga peeks in through the hole in the floor]
snaga- stop your squirming, rat!
[sharon turns to face the orc who is climbing
up the ladder]
[snaga pulls out his sword and sharon presses
herself against the wall, her eyes wide with fear]
snaga- i'm gonna bleed
you...like stuck pig!
[the orc is about to hurt sharon but suddenly
stops, freezing in mid-motion]
[sharon watches this, confused]
[the blue blade of sting penetrates snaga's
chest and maryann looks over from behind snaga’s back]
maryann- not if i get you
first.
sharon- maryann!
[the look on sharon’s face is happy and
relieved as she sees her friend has come to rescue her]
[maryann pulls out the sword and hurries to
sharon]
sharon- i’m so sorry! but
wait…what took you so long!
maryann- [confused]
what? you’re the one that sent me home packing…
sharon- sorry!!!!
maryann- it’s ok.
[maryann watches sharon with a kind smile on
her face, letting her know she's forgiven]
[maryann then starts to remove the binds around
sharon’s wrists]
sharon- it's too
late…shit….it's over...they've taken it!
maryann- what did they take?
[sharon sits up, meeting maryann’s eyes]
sharon- maryann! they took
the ring!
maryann- nah uh…they didn’t
take it!
[maryann stands up and sharon’s confused gaze
follows her]
[from the pocket of her pants, maryann pulls
out the one ring, still hanging from its chain]
[the call of the ring immediately sounds to
maryann’s head while she holds the ring out to sharon]
maryann- i thought i lost
you...so i took it..
[sharon stares at the ring, her face turns
serious]
sharon- give it to
me...give me the ring.
[sharon starts to lean forward and maryann
watches her]
[slowly maryann starts to pull her hand back
and brings the other one up to touch the ring]
[the call of the ring gets more aggressive and
the high-pitched voice gets mingled with low whispering]
sharon- maryann!
[sharon’s voice sounds distant maryann who
still holds the ring as she stares at sharon]
sharon- give me the ring.
come on!
[finally maryann starts to come back to her
senses and slowly hands the ring to sharon]
[quickly sharon snatches the ring from
maryann's grip]
[as sharon puts the ring and its chain back
around her neck, the look on sharon’s face is blissful, as if she's just had a
great relief to some withdrawal symptom]
sharon- you must
understand...the ring is my responsibility. it will destroy you, maryann.
[maryann watches as
sharon tries to stand up, taking support from the wall]
maryann- come on, sharon…we
need to find you some clothes. you can't go walking in mordor like that. migod.
[the hobbits are walking along a road outside
the tower, dressed in orc armour]
[the two finally stop and get a full view of mount
doom, of barad-dûr and the plateau of gorgoroth, filled with orc encampments]
maryann- we finally did it,
yay. we made it to mordor.
sharon- there’s so many of
them...we’ll never get through this without getting seen, ya know?!
maryann- uh huh!
[sharon sees the eye of sauron, scanning the
plateau of gorgoroth]
[sharon takes a step back, her breathing
quickens]
sharon- it's him! whoa, the
eye!
[the hobbits look at each other]
maryann- we have to go in
there, ya know. we have to do it…no matter what you say.
sharon- yeah i know…but…
maryann- no buts… let's just
try to make it down the hill first.
sharon- ok!
[sauron's remaining forces march towards the
gate]
orc leader- to the gate,
you slugs! move on!
[sharon
and maryann, still in their orc armour have managed to get down the hill, to
the rocky plains of gorgoroth]
maryann- hey look!
sharon- what?
maryann- the orcs! they're
moving!
[the orcs are leaving their encampments as the
horn sounds from the black gate]
[the eye is scanning the area from the peak of
barad-dûr]
maryann- alright…no orcs
trying to get in our way, woot woot!
sharon- great!
[the two hobbits continue to travel towards
mount doom, on the rocky surroundings]
[sharon and maryann who have stopped to take a rest]
[sharon is desperately trying to get water from
her empty bottle]
sharon- damn!
[maryann sees this and offers sharon her own
remaining water]
maryann- take mine. there's
some left.
sharon- thank you!
[greedily sharon brings the bottle to her lips,
and drinks a bit of the water]
[the air is filled with rumbling sound and the
sky is covered with dark clouds]
[maryann watches the weary sharon with a
saddened face]
sharon- too bad no more…
maryann- what? oh well…next
time we’ll eat. i hope!
sharon- do you think we’ll
even make it?
maryann- probably not.
[sharon turns her face in maryann's direction
and the hobbits look at each other, knowing now they will never see their green
earth ever again]
[maryann gets up on her feet and gives sharon
her hand, pulling her up]
[sharon and maryann stop for another rest]
sharon- i can’t wear this
anymore. i need to take it off.
maryann- it is pretty heavy.
[the two take off they’re orc armour and sharon
changes into her clothes, which maryann took back when they were in cirith
ungol]
[finally the two get up and walk]
[sharon and maryann get closer and closer to mount doom every second of the day]
[sharon is using her last remains of strength
to stay on her feet]
[sharon’s walk is very hobbling and maryann,
who is walking behind her friend, can only watch as the burden sharon carries
the ring is getting even heavier]
[with her right hand sharon is clutching onto
the ring and with her left one, she is lashing the air, as if blocking the
strikes of an invisible enemy]
[the sounds of sharon's heavy breathing and a
high-pitched sound as the eye of sauron is scanning the rocky plain of gorgoroth]
[suddenly sharon stops]
[the eye is seen behind the hobbits, high up in
the peak of barad-dûr, finally scanning the area where the two hobbits are
standing]
[maryann sees this and quickly lies down]
maryann- sharon…get down!
[slowly sharon turns around just as the eye is
about to see her]
maryann- fuckin’ hide!
[the eye hits her and sharon falls down as if
she were dead]
[maryann watches her friend and calls for her,
but can't get up, for the eye is still scanning the area]
maryann- sharon!
[sharon doesn’t answer, doesn't even move, just
stares forward with terror in her eyes]
[the eye leaves and maryann is able to get up]
maryann- thank god, it’s
gone! [yells at sharon] sharon!
[maryann makes her way to sharon who is slowly
starting to get up too]
maryann- the eye left…in
that direction [pointing north] i don’t know what’s going on.
[maryann helps sharon up from the ground]
[sharon and maryann climb up the slopes of
mount doom with their last remains of strength]
[the two finally fall down, exhausted]
[sharon is lying on the rocky ground and even
her breathing sounds wearisome]
[sharon lifts her face and watches the fiery
peak of orodruin]
[with a cry sharon grits her teeth and summons
up her last piece of strength and starts to crawl]
sharon- i can do this!
[sharon clutches onto rocks and pulls herself
forward, crawling past maryann who is still lying on the ground]
[finally sharon is spent, and sinks down near
maryann, pressing her cheek against the rocks, closing her eyes]
maryann- this sucks.
[maryann finally gets up and makes her way to
sharon]
[maryann takes her nearly unconscious friend
into her arms, looks up, then lays her teary eyes on sharon who has her eyes
closed]
maryann- do you remember
earth, sharon?
[sharon doesn't answer, just groans silently]
maryann- i miss california…and i can’t believe i’m saying this, but
i miss home. i miss my mom’s cooking, mark whining, and my friends. it’s so
blurry when i think about earth and why we came into this book. i just want to
get this over with and go home…i miss home.
[sharon, lying in maryann's arms, opens her weary eyes, her
breathing dry and heavy]
sharon- man, my mouth is
like numb when it comes to food or even any beverage….everything is just
confusing to me.
[maryann watches sharon, tears streaming from
her eyes]
sharon- [in despair]
i'm... i'm naked in the dark... there's nothing... nothing, no veil between me
and the wheel of fire!!
[sharon watches maryann, her eyes full of fear
as she listens to her little sister]
sharon- i can see him with
my waking eyes!
maryann- then let us get rid of it! once and for all! come on! i
can't carry it for you, but i can carry you! come on!
sharon- are you sure? can
you carry me?
maryann- i have no clue…but
you’re my sister…you are going to finish this task no matter what. got it!
sharon- got it!
[sharon watches with wide eyes and clutches
onto maryann, as her friend lifts her up and carries her on her shoulders,
slowly but surely up the hill]
[maryann and sharon approach their destination,
sharon still on maryann’s shoulders]
[the two can already see the entrance that
leads to sammath naur, the chambers of fire in the heart of mount doom]
maryann- hey look…sharon! i
think that’s the entrance.
[as maryann continues to carry sharon on her
back, the creature gollum on the rocks above]
gollum- clever hobbits to
climb so high!!!
[gollum jumps on maryann, causing the hobbits
to fall to the ground]
[sharon begins to get to her feet, but even as
she does, gollum jumps onto her, choking sharon with his bony fingers, letting
go only when maryann throws a rock at him]
[as gollum gets back to his feet, sharon lies
coughing on the ground]
[gollum soon regains his strength, and makes to
attack sharon, who is saved once more by maryann]
[maryann jumps onto gollum, and they roll down
the rocky slope together]
[gollum grabs maryann by her head and bashes it
against the rocks]
[then gollum bites the hobbit at her neck,
causing her to cry out in pain]
[maryann manages to hit gollum's head against
the rocks, and the creature rolls down beside her]
[as gollum makes to attack again, maryann
strikes him in the side with her sword]
[leaving gollum, maryann turns and looks for
sharon]
maryann- sharon!
[sharon is running up the hill, trying to reach
the entrance to sammath naur]
[in mordor, maryann approaches the entrance of
sammath naur]
[maryann runs inside where the ground shakes,
causing her stagger]
maryann- sharon, where are
you?!
[maryann keeps walking, she finally sees sharon
through the thick smoke]
[sharon is standing at the very end of the
ledge, holding the ring]
[sharon turns her face in maryann’s direction]
sharon- i'm here, maryann…
[maryann stops and looks at her friend]
[the whole area seems to shake and the hobbits
are surrounded by swirling fire, the deep rumble of orodruin sounding in the
air]
maryann- destroy it, already!
[sharon turns to look at the ring]
[sharon holds out her hand, ready to drop the
ring into the lava below, but the ring remains in sharon’s hand]
maryann- go on! now! throw it
in the fire!!!
[sharon keeps holding onto the ring-chain, her
eyes staring at the golden object]
[as sharon continues to falter with her
decision, her breathing gets heavy and tears fall from her eyes]
[sharon stares down into the fire, motionless]
maryann- what the hell are
you waiting for? do it!!
[as sharon continues to stare at the ring, as
though in a trance, the ring calls her for one last time]
[sharon’s face hardens]
[sharon can hear the heavy beating sound of the
voice of the ring, in the black speech]
[maryann watches helplessly as sharon continues
to eye the ring]
[at last, sharon turns around, her eyes meeting
maryann's]
[maryann watches in apprehension]
sharon- the ring is mine.
[sharon pulls off the chain and makes to put on
the ring]
[maryann watches with horror]
maryann- no….fuck this shit!
idiot!
[sharon brings the ring closer to her left hand
forefinger]
[sharon keeps looking at maryann, an evil smile
rising to her lips as she finally puts on the ring and disappears from sight]
maryann- damn her!
[as sharon claims the ring to herself, the eye
of sauron turns to look into the direction of mount doom]
[the nazgûl leave the black gate and head for
orodruin]
[sharon's footprints move closer to the exit]
[as maryann looks around, but gollum is
standing right behind her]
[in an instant, gollum hits maryann on the head
with a rock, leaving her unconscious]
[gollum notices the footprints sharon is
leaving, and with fury in his face, he jumps onto a still invisible sharon]
[the two
struggle, gollum seemingly floating in the air]
[maryann remains unconscious as gollum and sharon fight for the ring] [maryann is slowly coming back to her senses and at the same moment gollum manages to get a hold of sharon’s hand and forefinger] [gollum sinks his sharp little teeth into sharon’s hand and bites off the finger with the ring on it] [sharon is visible again and lets out a cry of pain] [as sharon is on her knees, crying and holding her hand, gollum gets up on his feet behind sharon’s back]
[sharon cries in pain and falls to the ground,
next to maryann]
[sharon’s hand is covered in blood, missing the
finger gollum bit off]
[farther away, gollum holds the ring above his
head, watching it with utter joy]
[gollum finally has his precious back]
[gollum, holding the ring between his fingers]
[gollum looks around him, joy still on his
face]
[further away sharon lies on the ground,
holding her bleeding hand, watching gollum rejoice over the ring]
gollum- yesss!!!
[gollum jumps into the air in ecstasy]
gollum- yessss!!!
[with an angry grimace on her face, sharon gets
up and walks towards gollum]
[maryann watches them, as though unable to
move]
gollum- precious! precious!
[gollum keeps jumping happily, not seeing that
sharon is nearing him]
[with a heated and an angry look on her face
sharon attacks gollum, reaching for the ring]
sharon- [angry] it’s
mine!
gollum- no!!!
[sharon and gollum continue to fight for the ring]
[as sharon tries to grab gollum from behind,
they both fall over the ledge]
[as gollum hits the lava, he is quickly
overcome by it, but his hand lingers above the surface, at last leaving the
ring floating on the surface]
[maryann walks to the ledge and sees sharon is
holding onto the ledge]
[as maryann lies down on her stomach and holds
out her hand]
[maryann can't reach her]
maryann- give me your
hand! reach!
[sharon stares at maryann, the ring still
floating below her]
[a beating sound is heard as the inscription on
the ring comes visible]
maryann- take my hand! come
on!
[finally sharon stretches out her bleeding
hand, but as her hand touches maryann's, it slips, and she nearly falls]
maryann- no!!!
[sharon turns to look up at maryann, holding on
with only one hand]
maryann- [quietly]
don't you let go.
[maryann stands above, hand outstretched, and
meets sharon’s eye]
maryann- don't let go...
reach!!!
[as maryann's voice echoes in the chasm,
sharon’s hand meets maryann's]
[in the chasm below, the ring melts at last,
and in the distance, the lidless eye bursts into flames]
[mount doom begins to crumble]
[sharon and maryann escape]
[the two
manage to get out at the very last moment]
[hot lava flows out, maryann throws sharon away from its path]
[sharon
lands on a rock near by and maryann jumps after her]
[maryann helps sharon on her feet and they
stare at the destruction of mordor]
sharon- it's gone! it's
finally done!
[sharon’s voice is filled with relief]
maryann- yup...it's over
now.
[sharon smiles at maryann but they both fall down as the ground
shakes]
[the lava continues to flow around them and
fiery boulders fly in the air]
[sharon lies down on her back and closes her
eyes]
sharon- i can see our
home…the san diego trolley…my dogs…our friends…our families…
maryann- astro-jump…many
memories there..
sharon- wrestling! [laughs]
ow…that hurt!
[sharon opens her eyes and turns to look at
maryann]
[sharon gets up and comes to lean against her
friend]
[sharon twines her arm around maryann and holds
her close, their foreheads pressed together]
sharon- i’m happy you came
with me, maryann…you are my sister always and forever.
maryann- thank you.
[the two hug]
[an hour passed, the hobbits are lying on the
same rock, surrounded by lava]
[from a distance, the eagles have come to
rescue them, gandalf with them, riding on gwaihir's back]
[the hobbits are picked up from the rock by the
eagles and are flown into safety]
[from gwaihir's claws, the look on the sharon's
face shows nothing but utter most bliss as it is all finally over]
[sharon closes her eyes]
ACT XI
SCENE 1
[sharon wakes up and finds herself in a soft
bed]
[sharon sits up, and hears birds singing in the
distance]
[as sharon sits up on the bed she merely
stares]
[in front of her sits gandalf]
[it is the first time she seen the wizard after
the events in moria]
[a smile rises to sharon’s lips as she
continues to stare]
sharon- gandalf…? i
thought you were dead. i saw you fall.
gandalf-
as you can see i am not.
sharon- but this
time you’re brighter than before.
gandalf-
yes, i have changed. i am gandalf the white, now.
sharon- ok, i’ll
call you by that from now on.
[the door opens, katie and elysa step inside]
elysa- it’s sharon,
she’s doing alright!
katie- migod! we
have a lot to tell you.
[the two run to sharon and jump onto her bed as
gandalf continues to laugh]
[elysa, katie, and sharon embrace seeing each
other for the first time since the breaking of the fellowship]
[elysa and katie talk and talk about what they
went through]
[gimli walks up towards the door and comes
inside]
[sharon looks up towards the door and sees
gimli]
[gimli
waves happily at sharon from the door]
gimli- [relieved]
ah, you’re alright!
[gimli laughs and claps his hands]
[legolas finally comes in to see his love]
legolas-
sharon…
[sharon looks at legolas for a moment in time]
sharon- legolas…
[elysa looks at the two love-birds for a
moment]
elysa- [to
sharon] go to him!
[sharon gets up and walks towards legolas’
arms]
[the two hug as if they never hugged each other
before]
[legolas looks down at sharon, while sharon
looks up towards him]
legolas-
it’s been too long,
sharon- i know.
[the two kiss]
katie- [to
elysa, pissed off] ugh!
elysa- quiet!
[elysa looks at sharon and legolas hug]
[aragorn walks in the room, and sharon walks up
to him and they hug]
sharon- i did it.
aragorn-
yes, you did…and we are happy you are back.
[maryann comes inside the room quietly]
[sharon notices maryann come in and they hug]
sharon- love you!
maryann-
love you more sis!
[the two cry with joy]
maryann-
[laughing and crying] are you doing good?
sharon- [wiping
her tears] uh huh, yeah!
[the two hug once more]
[everyone in sharon’s room catching up on old
times]
[maryann gets struck with an idea]
maryann-
[holds her head] ow…
sharon- what?
maryann-
i dunno. but i have an idea.
sharon- oh. maybe
that’s why your head hurts.
maryann-
huh?
sharon- you actually
thought up an idea, without us helping you.
maryann-
oh. anyways, let’s go out for a walk.
elysa- sure...why
not.
gimli- it’s pretty
nice outside.
[everyone walks outside and walks around]
sharon- so…whatcha
guys wanna talk about?
aragorn-
tell me more about your journey.
maryann-
let’s see. it was amazing…besides the big-ass spider,, climbing those high
winding stairs…omigod, that was high.
sharon-
and…and…don’t forget about me getting my finger bit off by that
good-for-nothing gollum…
maryann-
but you have to admit that without him, we wouldn’t have gotten so far.
sharon- yeah i know.
gimli- sounds
interesting.
sharon- yeah, it
was.
[gandalf interrupts]
gandalf-
sorry, young ones but aragorn is needed.
aragorn-
[to sharon and maryann] i want to hear more later.
maryann-
ok!
[gandalf and aragorn leave]
legolas-
i’m relieved you guys are safe.
sharon- i know.
everything was so hectic.
elysa- so, that’s
it then.
maryann-
umm, no…we have so much more to cover.
katie- and why
can’t you tell us now.
maryann-
i’m waiting till we all go back home.
katie- ah.
gimli- wait…what is
this home of yours…cuz, i know it’s not the shire.
elysa- well, we
have to tell you guys sooner or later. umm…but you guys are inside this book,
and we’re not.
legolas-
what?
elysa- [covers
mouth] oops…said too much!
maryann-
good one, elysa. let’s leave them alone for them to talk.
[everyone leaves besides katie]
katie- [thinking]
this is getting good.
[maryann comes back for katie]
maryann-
come on, let’s go!
katie- ah, why?
it’s getting good. man!
[maryann and katie leave]
[legolas seems pissed off]
sharon- i’m sorry. i
can explain.
legolas-
well…
sharon- umm…
legolas-
so, all of this…is…is made up.
sharon- i’m sorry, i
couldn’t tell you. but when i came into this book you’re not the only person i
fell in love with…but it was everyone here in this book. you, my friends,
aragorn, gimli, gandalf, everyone…besides the bad guys, which i don’t like.
legolas-
so…what are you going to do?
sharon- i still
don’t know yet.
legolas-
stay here with me and everyone here.
sharon- you know i
can’t do that.
legolas-
yeah, you’re right.
[they hug in a moment of silence]
sharon- omigod…
legolas-
what?
sharon- aragorn’s
coronation.
legolas-
yeah, we still need to get ready for that. i need to go. love you!
sharon- love you
too.
[the two lovers run their separate ways]
[on the highest level of minas tirith, in
aragorn's coronation]
[aragorn stands on the stairs before gandalf as
the wizard places his crown upon his head]
gandalf-
now come the days of the king.
[aragorn meets gandalf's eyes and they both
smile]
gandalf- may they be blessed.
[the wizard steps back and aragorn takes his
place]
[aragorn takes a deep breath and then turns
around, facing his friends and nationals]
[everyone cheers]
aragorn- this day does not belong to one man...but to all. let us
together re-build this world...that we may share in the days of peace.
[the people applaud and white petals start to
fall from above]
aragorn-
[singing in a different language] out of the great sea to middle-earth i am come.
in this place will i abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.
[as the king sings, he steps down the stairs
and walks past the people on both sides]
[éowyn and faramir, happily together, smile at
aragorn and bow their heads]
[éomer does the same has he comes to see the
king]
[aragorn moves on, he is met by legolas]
[the legolas is the prince of mirkwood and
wears a silver crown upon his forehead]
[aragorn and legolas come to stand before each
other, and with smiles on their faces, place their hands on each other's
shoulders]
aragorn-
[elvish speaking] legolas…thank you
[legolas says nothing, but gives his friend a
beautiful smile]
[legolas then motions with his eyes for aragorn
to look behind his back]
[there stands elrond of rivendell and beside
him is a white banner, the white tree of the king embroidered to it]
[legolas walks over to sharon and the hobbits]
sharon- [to legolas]
who is that?
legolas-
you’ll see.
[legolas and hobbits look]
[from behind the banner comes forth arwen]
[sharon looks up at legolas]
sharon- oh…it was
arwen.
maryann-
[pointing at an elf] hey, that elf guy looks so familiar.
elysa- isn’t that
the guy from lothlórien.
maryann-
omigod, are they both here.
sharon- that’s not
good.
[katie and sharon laugh]
maryann-
shut-up you guys. help me!
[maryann hides behind sharon]
sharon- can’t help
you like that. i’m too short.
maryann-
well it was worth a shot.
[the hobbit’s totally forgot about everything,
and they look up]
[arwen's eyes glistening with tears]
[aragorn takes the banner from her hands and
sets it aside]
[arwen lowers her face but aragorn makes her
meet his]
[for some time the two stare at each other, and
then aragorn finally takes her into his arms and kisses her]
[the crowd applauds as the happy couple
continue to kiss]
[elrond watches his daughter's happiness with a
smile on his face, glorfindel standing behind him]
[arwen and aragorn stroke each other's faces,
staring into each other's eyes and finally arwen embraces her king, laughing
happily]
[the king and his queen walk to where the
sharon, maryann, katie, and elysa are standing in a line]
[as they bow, aragorn interrupts them]
aragorn-
my friends!
[the hobbits all look up]
aragorn-
you bow to no one!
[aragorn kneels before the hobbits and bows his
head]
[the rest of the crowd soon follows their king
and the hobbits watch, astonished, as all the people pay homage to them]
sharon- [thinking]
what’s going on?
maryann-
[thinking, smiling, singing] bow down, bow down.
katie- [thinking]
this is really nice…i guess…
elysa- [thinking]
hmm…
[andvasa and glorfindel looks at maryann]
sharon- [whispering
to maryann] umm…maryann.
maryann-
[whispering] yes.
sharon- [whispering]
looks like your two boyfriends are looking at you.
[maryann looks to see]
[the two elves smile at maryann]
maryann-
[whispering to sharon] shit!
sharon- [whispering]
so, what are you gunna do?
maryann-
[whispering] i don’t know!
[finally the coronation is over, everyone heads
inside for a unbelievable dinner]
[sharon and maryann eat as much as they want]
elysa- you guys were sure
hungry.
maryann- yeah, of course.
[legolas drinks a glass of ale or wine]
sharon- [to legolas] i
didn’t know that you drink.
legolas- neither did i.
katie- you should’ve saw
him a few days ago…he was chuggin’ that drink down.
sharon- aww…i wanted to see
that.
elysa- well to bad.
[after dinner everyone leaves]
[maryann walks around alone]
andvasa-
hey there!
maryann-
huh? [looks around] oh, hi!
andvasa-
what’s wrong?
maryann-
nothing…i saw you earlier.
andvasa-
yeah, i know.
maryann-
what are you doing here?
andvasa-
for you and aragorn.
maryann-
oh, you wanted to see to me.
andvasa-
yes, i did!
maryann-
ok…
andvasa-
sorry to cut this short, but i have to go now.
maryann-
alright, bye!
[maryann continues to walk alone]
glorfindel-
maryann!
maryann-
[looks up at glorfindel] yeah huh…
glorfindel-
it’s great to see you again.
maryann-
but you saw me not too long ago.
glorfindel- i know.
maryann-
don’t me only came here for that reason.
glorfindel-
not only that, but also to see my friends.
maryann-
that’s a better answer.
glorfindel-
better answer than what?
maryann-
nevermind.
glorfindel-
how is sharon doing? that is her name, right?
maryann-
yeah that’s her name, and she’s doing fine.
glorfindel-
that’s good news.
maryann-
yeah it is.
glorfindel-
well i need to go, i will see you later.
maryann-
sure…i guess.
[glorfindel leaves maryann]
[sharon is walking and sees glorfindel leaving
maryann]
[sharon walks over to maryann]
sharon- what was that about?
maryann-
man, this sucks so much.
sharon- well, you’re
going out with two guys at the same time.
maryann-
well, duh…i know that! [sits down on a bench] sharon, what am i suppose to do?
sharon- well…i don’t
know. i wasn’t in a situation like this.
maryann-
that does not help me at all.
sharon- sorry. why
won’t you just pick a guy that you think you would be good with?
maryann-
that’s going to be hard for me to do.
sharon- i know, but
it’s worth a shot.
maryann-
ok.
sharon- [stands up]
i’m going to walk around and let you think about this situation you’re in, ok?
maryann-
ok…love you babe!
sharon- love you
more. see ya!
[sharon continues to walk around minas tirith]
sharon- [thinking]
this was fun, too bad i have to go home. ever since i came into this book i
never had time to myself and this is my first time alone in this book without
anyone bugging me. hmm…
[elysa sees sharon walking and runs towards
her]
elysa- [yelling] sharon!
[sharon turns around]
sharon- hi elysa!
what do you want?
elysa- i have
something to tell you.
sharon- uh huh?
elysa- katie likes
legolas.
sharon- what?! where
is she at?
elysa- heading to
his room. you need to go now.
sharon- alright.
thank you!
[elysa watches sharon run to the highest level]
elysa- [thinking] wondering what selendrile is up to?…oh well,
don’t want to know!
[sharon stops at legolas’ room]
[sharon hears people talking]
[sharon looks through the keyhole]
[katie and legolas are talking]
katie- why can’t
you return the same feelings to me?
legolas-
i don’t feel the same way. i love someone else.
katie- she doesn’t
love you.
legolas-
how can you say that? she’s your friend.
katie- whatever.
[katie hugs legolas]
[sharon still watching behind the door]
sharon- what the hell?!
[sharon slams the door right open]
legolas-
[to sharon] uh oh…
[legolas pulls katie away from him]
legolas-
sharon, it’s not what you think!
sharon- [pissed off]
yeah, yeah, yeah!
[sharon walks towards katie]
sharon- [whispering]
what the hell were you doing?
katie- so, you were
there behind the door this whole time?
sharon- well, not the whole time.
legolas-
[looking up] thank you.
sharon- and i know
that legolas will never cheat on me. so, don’t you dare cuz i know you don’t
love him…
katie- what? yes, i
do!
sharon- uh huh, yeah
sure…you’re trying to take someone’s guy so you won’t be alone. cuz we have
guys, you go and try to take mine away. you know this is true.
katie- [guilty] i’m
sorry!
[katie runs crying]
legolas-
sorry for all this.
sharon- nothing to
worry about. but umm…
legolas-
yes…
sharon- can you do
me one favor?
legolas-
depends?
sharon- can you ask
any of your elf friends, if he would hook up with katie?
legolas-
i think i could do that.
sharon- thank you.
[the two kiss and hug]
[legolas and sharon leave his room and they go
they’re separate ways]
[sharon meets up with maryann]
sharon- where are
you going?
maryann-
nowhere. just walking around.
[from out of nowhere]
aragorn- my dear friends.
[sharon flinches and maryann turns around]
maryann-
hey!
[sharon turns around as well]
sharon- it’s king
aragorn!
aragorn-
what are your plans after this?
maryann-
go home.
sharon- eat and
sleep.
aragorn-
you’re still the same person i met in bree, sharon.
sharon- huh…oh!
umm…anyways, where’s arwen?
aragorn-
inside.
maryann-
why aren’t you in there with your queen?
aragorn-
just wandering a bit, thinking…
[a servant walks towards aragorn]
servant-
my lord, king aragorn, there is some business to attend to.
aragorn-
alright, be there in a sec.
maryann-
ooh, talking like us, now.
aragorn-
yeah, i know. you guys are surely brushing up on me.
sharon- aww, we did
some good now.
aragorn-
yes you did.
maryann-
well, we’ll let you go now. we’ll miss you.
sharon- [tear rolls
down her cheek] yes, we will.
[maryann and sharon hug aragorn with all their
might]
aragorn- [sad] so, will i.
[the two hobbits let go]
sharon- tell lady
arwen, that we said goodbye!
[aragorn nods and walks away]]
[maryann and sharon continue walking]
[sharon bumps into someone]
sharon- dude! watch
it!
gimli- aye, my dear
hobbit…
[sharon cries]
gimli- what’s
wrong?
sharon- [crying]
hobbit…
maryann-
so gimli, where are you heading?
gimli- back home.
sharon- [calms down]
oh…
[someone walks up from behind sharon]
legolas-
not alone.
sharon- what? you’re
going with him?
legolas-
well, yeah! it was our bet to see who will kill more and whoever wins, the
loser has to go with the winner to his homeland.
sharon- well, is
this goodbye?
maryann-
i guess it is.
[sharon hugs legolas, then gimli]
sharon- [to gimli]
keep an eye on him for me.
gimli- i will.
[maryann gives props to legolas and hugs gimli]
sharon- bye you guys. love you!
[sharon kisses legolas goodbye]
[the two pair go their separate ways]
[maryann and sharon meet up with elysa and
katie]
sharon- dude, it’s too hard to say goodbye.
elysa- uh huh.
maryann-
i’m going to miss them.
[gandalf interrupts]
gandalf-
it is time.
[the four girls look up at gandalf, then they
look back at aragorn’s palace]
[sharon puts her arms around her friends and
they walk with gandalf, back to the shire]
ACT XII
SCENE 1
[the hobbits including gandalf ride through
moria, rivendell, and bree]
[gandalf leaves the four girls when they’re in
bree]
[the four girls ride to a familiar place]
sharon- thirteen months to
the day since gandalf sent us on our long journey, we found ourselves
looking upon a familiar sight. we’re back to
our so-called home.
maryann- [looks around] this
place still remains the same when we first left.
sharon- cuz it was the only
time we left.
maryann- correct!
sharon- nevermind.
[the hobbits ride past an old
mr. proudfoot, who watches them go, having no idea what the four hobbits have
been through]
sharon- hello!
[maryann nods]
katie- hi!
elysa- hey ya!
sharon- elysa, do you
remember that song?
[maryann starts singing]
maryann- [sings] hey ya!
katie- [sings] hey ya!
sharon- [sings] hey
ya!…shake it!
katie- [sings] shake it!
elysa- [sings] shake it
like a polaroid picture..
[the four girls laugh in excitement]
maryann- let’s go to the
green dragon…
katie- yeah, this will be
our last time drinking at the green dragon.
sharon- yeah we should.
elysa- let’s go!
[in the green dragon, sharon brings her friends
all pints of ale and sits down]
[sharon looks around]
[everything is the same, just as it was before
she set out on her long journey to mount doom]
[sharon , maryann, elysa, and katie all look at
each other]
elysa- i’m going to miss
this place.
katie- yeah, this place is
full of happiness.
[only they know what they've been through and
what went on in the outside world]
[the hobbits pick up their tankards and they
make a toast]
sharon- for the shire.
maryann- for middle-earth.
elysa- friends.
katie- food.
4 girls- cheers!
[the four hobbits drink their problems away]
sharon- let’s go! we need a
good rest for tomorrow…we’re finally going home!
[the four leave to go to their hobbit-holes]
[sharon in her hobbit-hole; sleeping]
[maryann knocks on door]
maryann- [yelling] sharon!
are you home? sharon!
sharon- [wakes up and walks
to door] what?!
maryann- can i come in?
sharon- uh huh…
[maryann walks inside welcomed]
sharon- so, why you come?
maryann- talk.
sharon- talk about…?
maryann- ok, i think i
picked a guy.
sharon- who? who?
maryann- andvasa.
sharon- that’s good. wanna
eat?
maryann- nope not now, i
just want to sleep.
sharon- go ahead i’m still
tired, so i’mma go and do the same.
maryann- why didn’t you take
a nap?
sharon- i was till you woke
me up.
maryann- oh…okay, sorry.
[maryann falls asleep on sharon’s couch]
[sharon later falls asleep on her bed, the day
falls into night]
[gandalf arrives in the shire]
gandalf- i hope those girls
are ready.
[gandalf rides to sharon’s house]
sharon- gandalf’s here.
[sharon and maryann walk outside]
sharon- gandalf!
gandalf- i have a surprise
for you inside this carriage.
[sharon and maryann look inside the carriage]
sharon- bilbo!
maryann- bilbo!
[sharon and maryann hug bilbo]
gandalf- maryann get your
pony.
maryann- alright.
sharon- ya know what, i’ll
just call elysa.
[sharon phones elysa]
[30 minutes later]
elysa- we’re here!
gandalf- let’s go! sharon
inside the carriage. the others on your ponies.
maryann- come follow!
[sharon and bilbo are sitting together inside
the carriage]
[bilbo is very old]
sharon- [thinking] how do
you pick up the threads of an old life? how do you go on, when in your heart
you begin to understand there is no going back. there are some things that time
cannot mend. some hurts that go too deep...that have taken hold.
bilbo- what are you
thinking?
sharon- nothing…
bilbo- tell me again,
sharon, where are we going?
sharon- to the harbor,
bilbo. the elves have accorded you a special honor, a place on the last ship to
leave
middle-earth. and as for me, i’m finally going
home.
bilbo- home sweet home..
sharon, any chance of seeing that old ring of mine again? the one i gave you...
[sharon is silent before she gives her answer,
remembering the past]
sharon- sorry, uncle...i'm
afraid i lost it.
bilbo- oh...pity...should
like to have hold it one last time.
[bilbo rests his head against sharon’s shoulder
and falls asleep]
[for some time sharon continues to think about
the ring, then presses her cheek against bilbo's forehead and closes her eyes
and cries]
[arriving at the grey havens, the four hobbits
have come to see off bilbo, gandalf, and for all four of them to finally go
home]
gandalf- we’re here!
sharon- bilbo, you hear
that? we’re here.
bilbo- ah.
[sharon and bilbo stops and watches as sharon
sees her friends in the distance waiting for her]
sharon- king aragorn, queen
arwen, gimli, selendrile, lady galadriel, lord celeborn, and lord elrond…but
where’s legolas and andvasa?
aragorn- they couldn’t be
make it.
sharon- [upset] oh…
[sharon hugs her friends as she cries]
[the four girls group together in a line and
they stand before their friends of middle-earth]
4 girls- bye!
[the girls walk up to their ship; waving
goodbye, crying]
[everyone waves goodbye]
gimli- those girls show us
how to really enjoy our lives more, that’s real interesting.
aragorn- where is legolas
exactly?
gimli- in [pointing
sharon’s ship] that ship.
aragorn- they’re going to be
in a good surprise.
gimli- ooh, yup, they
will!
[at the last ship, stands elrond, celeborn, and
galadriel]
[bilbo bows his head as he sees the elves and
the elves do the same]
galadriel- the power of
the three rings is ended. the time has come for the dominion of men.
elrond- [elvish speaking]
the sea calls us home.
bilbo- i think i'm quite
ready for another adventure!
[the old hobbit walks into the ship, elrond
with him, galadriel and celeborn follows afterwards]
[gandalf says his goodbyes to gimli, aragorn,
and arwen]
gandalf- farewell, my dear
friends. my work is now finished.
aragorn- thank you!
[gandalf boards the ship]
[aragorn, arwen, and gimli stands at the harbor
and watches sharon’s ship sail away into a portal]
gimli- [fascinated] whoa!
[the elf’s ship sail way into the distance to
valinor]
aragorn- this is…goodbye,
then!
[arwen sheds a few tears]
arwen- they were
extraordinary girls to be around.
aragorn- yes, they are…
