Non-profit Public Citizens Group Ignores the Public February 20. Despite adequate time to research and prepare a reply, Public Citizen, a non-profit group which represents the public interest, has chosen to ignore communciations from a significant group of public citizens regarding allegations Public Citizen made in a petition to the FDA. The Lotronex Action group represents up to 150,000 successful users of a medication that Public Citizen petitioned the FDA to withdraw. The group may represent up to 30% of the population of the United States. This group has gathered physician and scientific support and sent a letter to Public Citizen on January 28, requesting reconsideration of the petition in light of new evidence. Despite the urgency of the situation to the people involved and the severity of the effect of IBS on these people has chosen not to respondIt appears that Public Citizen violated the rights of at least two people by using information obtained from what they believed were private internet communications.
