I have a diary section on my webpage because while filming our remake I wrote a journal on what we did. I wrote down the locations we filmed, the characters we played, and the difficulties we had. If you are wondering what the stars are, they represent how good we performed on that day. I put a key so that you can see the different levels of how well we did. Have fun reading about our experience:)
Key on Stars:
5 stars= perfect performances
4 stars= great performances
3 star= Good performances-could do better
2 stars=Ok job
1 star-Very bad job, Shame on u! The director is NOT impressed!

Day 1- Sunday, April 13, 2003
First day of filming was a success! When everyone came to my house, it was chaos. Everyone was getting ready. Mary had to wear a white shirt, fake nails, and elf ears as Lady Galadriel. Jen, me, Erica, and D.J. all wore black for our roles as the dwarves and men. The only difficulty we had was that dogs kept barking and we needed complete silence for filming. The music went very well. We only needed music for the 1st minute of the movie. The music for our movie came from the LOTR soundtrack so the music was played in the exact spot as the real LOTR movie, we had all of the music matched up. We filmed in my backyard.Later on, we had a difficulty with the special effects located on the camera. Using the old camera was very hard:( D.j. was the cameraman and she added the special touches to the beginning of the film. We got all the way up to the battle scene on this night which is the 1st 3 minutes of the actual LOTR movie. When we all watched what we did so far, we were very happy with what we did. It looked pretty good. I rate this day as 4 stars out of 5
Day 2- Thursday, April 17, 2003
Christine, D.J., Mary, Jen and Erica came 6:00pm. We didn't get to work until 6:30 because the camera would refuse to work. It was freezing cold outside, 49 degrres farenheit. brrr.. We were all very cold and it effected the way we worked and acted. We started where we left off and got up to the scene where Sauron comes and Isilador and his father are in it. We would've done much better if it wasn't so cold outside and if Mary, Jen, and Erica would stop fooling around. I got to do my Elrond part and spoke lines. yippee! Mary narrated as Lady Galadriel again, Jen and Erica were elves/men in the army, Christine filmed, and lucky D.j. was an orc. We had to do four takes on my part as Elrond because evryone kept messing up on shooting the bow and arrows. Also we heard sirens in the backround so we had to do another take. Other than that, everything went pretty well. i think that Day 1 was better than Day 2. After all we only worked from 6:30-7:45, not long at all. We filmed yet again, in my backyard. I rate this day as 3 stars out of 5
Day 3- Saturday, May 3, 2003
Two bad things happened on this day:( Loads of technical difficulties. Somebody hit record by accident and it taped my backyard over some of what we filmed, so we had to film some of it over again. That got me pretty upset, me being the director and all. Also, Mary and Jen were an hour late, they came at 6 as apposed to 7. So we filmed from 7:00-8:30. we started at where Sauron comes into the film and ended at Isilador's father's death. It looks great. Great sound effects too. I rate this day 1 star out of 5:(
Day 4- June 6, 2003
Today we started at the scene when Isiladors dad is laying there dead, all of the way up to the part where Gollum holds the ring. We got A LOT done since the sun was out later than usual. I felt bad for Jen because she had to roll around in the mud. the weather was in the late 70's and no rain! The ground was still wet from previous rains though. Jen, D.J., and Mary attended the filming along with me and my sister. Jen played Isilador, wearing all balck. It was a very small part so it was easy for her to do. Erica played Isilador's father, which she did well. Mary narrated as Lady Galadriel and lucky me got to portray the character Gollum. And of course I played the role of the director, although Mary sat in the director's chair the whole time she narrated!:( We filmed in my backyard agin for the 4th time. I rate this day 3 stars out of 5-
Day 5- June 16, 2003
We are done the ring biography!!! Next time it's time for the actual acting! yey! We started at the part where Gollum is in his cave and ended at the beginning of the real acting parts where Frodo meets Gandalf. I wore grey sweats for Gollum, Jen dressed as the hobbit Bilbo, Mary narrated as Lady Galadriel and Erica filmed some. I also filmed some parts. Some problems we had were getting the camera to work. We filmed at a different location on this day. We filmed by a small crick, near some trees, at the bottom of the hill on Greenhouse Lane. it was perfect. One sad thing happened, I lost my sisters 'One Ring", the one Frodo always wears:( We had to buy a new one. this day was fun. I rate this day 4 stars out of 5
Day 6- July 21, 2003
We actually got to act today! yay! We filmed at a park by my house which has a track for us to walk on and tons of trees. Perfect for the scene when Gandalf meets Frodo Baggins in Hobbiton! Christine did the music, Jen filmed, I played the part as Gandalf, and Erica played the part as Frodo Baggins. I wore a black cape, grey pants and shirt, platform shoes (to make me taller), a grey wig, and a black pointy witch hat. I looked like an idiot at a public park. And it was very hot outside because its July! people were staring at me because I looked like I was dressed as a witch for Halloween. Erica wore black capris, and a blue blouse, at least SHE looked normal. She also had curly hair and hobbit feet. We filmed from where Gandalf and Frodo meet all the way up to the part where Gandalf visits Bilbo. We did very well today! Too bad it was 90 degrees out! I rate this day 5 out of 5 stars
Day 7- August 4, 2003
Wow! What a day! It was just the 3 musketeers today, me, Jen, and my sister Erica. Erica filmed, Jen played Bilbo, and I played Gandalf again. It was hard work. We practiced for awhile since it was a difficult scene to do. We filmed from the part where gandalf meets Bilbo in his hobbit hole up to the scene of Bilbo's b-day party. To make things head for the worst, it started to rain before we had the chance to film! We had to film a little outside so we had to wait for the rain to stop. The rest of the scene was filmed in my house. And we got to use the new clapboard I got for my birthday! Overall, us 3 did a very good job. I rate this day 4 stars out of 5
Day 8- May 29, 2004
Great day! We haven't filmed in a long time but on today we filmed so much! It was just the 4 hobbits today. We filmed Bilbo's WHOLE Birthday Party in 2 hours!! We used a fog machine and irish music:) Some parts we filmed were good like the Rosie and Sam part and Merry and Pippin Parts! Jen was Pip, Bilbo, and Rosie, I was Gandlaf and Merry, Erica was Frodo, and Mary was Sam. I rate this day 5 stars out of 5!!
