Elrond (Hugo Weaving) is the Lord of RIvendell. He has lived over 3,000 years and was in the War against Sauron. He tried to persuade Isildur to destroy the One Ring, but he didn't. He holds the Secret Council to decide the Ring's fate when Frodo come to Rivendell, because he felt that the Ring was not safe there. He creates the Fellowship of the Ring to protect Frodo on his journey. He is the father of Arwen Evenstar. |

Arwen (Liv Tyler) is an Elf who chooses a mortal life to be with Aragorn. She rides to Rivendell to rescue Frodo when she finds him stabbed by a Ringwraith in the woods. She gets chased by all 9 Nazguls, but she outruns them all and drowns (but the Nazgul are "neither living nor dead"...) them in the river. Arwen is the daughter of Elrond and granddaughter of Galadriel, Lady of the Wood. |
