The "actor" whose journal you read IS NOT THE ACTUAL ACTOR. The author/maintainer of that journal is a participant in the role playing game (RPS) LOTR Playground where people portray the cast of Lord of the Rings in a fashion they wouldn't normally be portrayed. The fact that Billy Boyd is a Faerie and Craig Parker is a Vampire should have been your first clue that none of this is real. Oh! And don't forget Ares and Macy!

Are you guys real? Are you really the real cast members of Lord of the Rings?
No. These actors/actresses would never have the time or the inclination to keep journals. We don't even know them, and we know nothing of their personal or private lives. Anything we say in these journals is just fun, fantasy and speculation based on the public personnas of these people. The fact that some of the actors have supernatural powers should be a dead giveaway.

Why are most of them gay or bisexual?
We don't know the sexual orientations of these people. We aren't trying to say that they are gay in real life. We don't know if they're gay in real life. Many of us, however, are into slash. Slash is homoerotic fan fiction that portrays sexual and romantic relationships between two or more people of the same gender. None of us around here think that being gay is such a bad thing.

What if I want to leave a nasty message in your journal telling you that I think what you're doing is wrong?
Don't. Most of us have disabled anonymous posters. Even if you do it through your LiveJournal account, we'll likely either delete your message or mock you. You're wasting your time.

Don't you guys have lives or anything better to do other than sit around pretending you're actors with special powers?
It's fun. It's a hobby. It's a game. We're playing the game. If that makes us losers, then okay, we're losers.

What if I want to play?
Then go ahead and play. You'll need a LiveJournal, an icon and a willingness to work and play well with others. The LOTR Playground community restricts its membership to cast members. If you have a really original idea for a character however, it might be considered.

Some journals are started and then the people who started them lose interest and want to hand them over to someone else. You can see if there are actors up for grabs by checking the LOTR Playground page at LiveJournal.

What if I want to play an actor who's already there?
Too late. We work on a system of first dibs. If another person was in the community first, they've likely already been posting and been accepted. Find someone else to play. There are still lots of options and lots of people.

This is very important to know: We have a very tight community where all the characters interact with each other. If you don't post, within a certain amount of time, you'll most likely be contacted and either asked to post, or asked to leave.
