Six teams of two (one boy & one girl) start the show by crossing the moat. The team names are the Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots, and Silver Snakes. Once both members of the team crossed the moat, they would move on to the next round by ringing their color gong. The 4 teams that crossed the moat first went to the Steps of Knowlegde.
At the Steps of Knowlegde, the 4 remaining teams listen to Olmec tell the legend behind the artifact of the day. Afterward, Olmec asks them questions about the legend. The two teams that can correctly answer 3 questions first, move on to the temple games.
The temple games are physical challenges meant to recreate the life and times of the legend. The winning team of the first two games earned a half pendant of life. The winning team of the third game earned a full pendant of life. The team with the bigger amount of pendants moves on to the temple. (1.5 pendants beats 1 pendant.)
The temple is where the one remaining team went to claim the lost artifact. It combined physical and mental challenges because the temple is a combination of an obstacle course and a maze. Contestants only had 3 minutes to find the right path to the prize and get it safely out of the temple, while avoiding the dreaded temple guards.
