The Website of LOTHIAN SOC - Lothian's Bird Club
Welcome to "LOTHIAN BIRDING" - the website of the Lothian branch of the SOC.
Compiled by branch members, this site aims to provide you with news and information
about "Lothian's Bird Club", birds, birders and birding in the area - where and when to
go, the best chance to see certain species and to keep you informed of what's going
on with birds and other wildlife in the region. We hope that you find this site useful, and
it encourages you to get involved in birding in the Lothians! Please help the website to
evolve by sending in your photos, ideas, comments and opinions.

THIS SITE IS COMPILED BY BIRDERS, FOR BIRDERS!!

This website features all the latest bird news for the Lothians, updated regularly,
including summer/winter arrivals
and a checklist for all species seen this year. For
reference, we also include the official Lothian list
of all the birds recorded in the area.
In our Lothian SOC News
section, we include details of forthcoming Lothian SOC
meetings and trips as well as other special events. After what was a successful first
year in 2002, we are again running our year-list challenge for 2003, so get out there
and start Birding the Lothians
! Our new Bulletin Board allows local birders to post their
own requests for help, information etc and you can publish your pictures on our new
Photo Gallery
. We continue Links with the main SOC website and others of local
interest.
Have a preview of the new Lothian Site Guide (still being written!) with
details of a selection of (so far) East Lothian's finest birding areas. Watch
this space for Edinburgh, West & Midlothian in the coming weeks! Your
comments are most welcome.
