CHEESECAKE
Kittys Club
By: Ashley Rae Fralin copyright 2004

Silence grew like a cancer around the group of figures that stood at the satanic circle. At least what was left of it. The moon was still out, despite the growing sunrise in the distance. People came and left the scene, cameras flashed as photographers took pictures of the grotesque image that would haunt the detectives that stood around there. Trying to figure out what had happened only hours ago with what little clues they had been left.
One detective, Sara Crom, knelt next to the body that lay in the middle of the circle. Latex gloves upon her small hands to keep her from ruining whatever evidence they may find. Auburn hair was tied back in and kept out of the way. She had a slightly tanned complexion and light brown eyes that occasionally glanced around while thinking. Standing up she looked to her partner, Dan Welcrow. Sandy hair in a buzz cut, thin and tall, a pair of black glasses rested upon his nose causing him to look somewhat geeky. He too wore a pair of latex gloves, yet his black slack and white button up shirt did not match her blue jean pants and tight black t-shirt.
Ok, Im seeing some sort of sacrificing ritual. What do we know about the large cults in this area? Sara asked as she looked down to the body that was neatly laid out in the center of the circle. A girl who looked no older then 17, pale skin standing out, she was wearing a white satin dress. Throat slit wide open, a pool of blood underneath her, soaking her long blond hair.
Well nothing really. Dan said as he pushed his glasses up his nose and moved out of the way so a photographer could do his job properly. He looked to his little notepad in which he had taken vigorous notes on. Theres rumors of a bunch of kids who are into witchcraft and such. But nothing dangerous enough to do something such as this.
Sara knelt by the body once more and looked over it and the symbols surrounding it. She shook her head a look of frustration running across her face. So we have to assume the possibility of an outside source then. She said dryly
From the looks of it, yes. Dan said nodding his head and causing his glasses to fall down his nose. Though we do have one lead. Apparently the girl, he checked his notes a moment. Jessica Belton, had started to go to a newly opened club downtown recently. Called, he consulted his notes once more. Kittys Club.
A frown fell upon Saras features. Thats the only lead weve got? she asked looking at Dan with a questioning look. He gave a nod, which resulted in a sigh from her. Fine. There isnt much more we can do until we get the autopsy from the curator on this one. So lets check this Kittys Club out in, She checked her watch a moment. Five hours? Itll be about 2 in the afternoon then. She said looking to him.
Dan wrote a few notes on his little notepad. Alright, do you want to just meet up there? he asked raising an eyebrow at her.
She looked back to the dead body a moment or so. Ill meet you there. She said quietly, her thoughts deep and complicated.
Dan watched her carefully. Dont go jumping the gun on this one Sara. You nearly got yourself killed on the last case. Id hate to lose you as a partner. He said with a serious tone to his words.
Sara looked to him while pulling her latex gloves off and handed them to her partner. Dont worry Dan. Ill behave she said and walked from the scene through the crowd of officers and media that had now arrive. She ignored the look that Dan gave her as she made her way to her car and got in. Putting the keys in the ignition and starting the car. She turned and looked behind her as she pulled out. Then shifting into drive she looked ahead and pulled away from the chaos the murder scene had created and drove away.
Dan knew her to well. That didnt settle well with her as she thought about it while driving down the road to the other side of town. It mattered not however. Hands gripping the steering wheel as she made her turn. Then parallel parked and turned off her car. She looked through the windshield out to the still blinking neon sign that said Kittys Club on it. After sitting there for a few moments she made sure she had her badge, car keys, purse, and of course her gun in the shoulder holster. She reached over to the passengers seat and grabbed her jacket, putting it on to hide the gun as it did tend to intimidate people.
Opening the door and getting out she looked to the streets that were always busy no matter the time. Closing and locking the car door she adjusted her jacket before making her way around the car and to the clubs entrance. She had a feeling that the answer was here, and she was going to be the one to find it.
She tried the doors even though the club was closed. While expecting to find a locked door, surprisingly it pushed open. Caution set upon her as she peeked inside the club. Darkness seemed to swallow the entire club, making it hard to see. Despite her first instinct to wait until her partner would come. She pushed the door open wider and slipped inside while glancing behind her to see if anyone saw her go in. She did not see the figure watching from another nearby parked car.
She made her way past the bar and down the steps to the dance floor. Hello? she called out while looking around questioningly. Walking a few more steps till she was out in the middle of the dance floor. Darkness surrounding her, a small tap on her shoulder caused her to spin around, striking out with out warning. Her fist was stopped however by someone grabbing her wrist.
Hold up there Sara, Its me, Dan. Dan said letting go of her wrist and peering at her though the dark. You know, I wish that just once youd follow my advice and just wait instead of jumping the gun like you always do.
Sara looked at him and narrowed her eyes before looking around. How do we know that the same people arent out planning or doing the same thing all over again? We dont have time to wait. She said seriously.
Dan sighed. And how do we know that anyone from here has anything to do with it? We dont. You cant rush these things Sara. He looked around. But were already here so we might as well have a look around. He shook his head yet seemed annoyed with the fact that they were there.
Sara looked at him a moment then walked on, coming to a stop as she heard noise coming from the back. She glanced at Dan who just looked towards the sound then to her. After sharing a look they both went to find out what the noise was. Carefully making theyre way through the club, avoiding the tables and the chairs they had to go through to get to the back. Soon they turned down a hallway and found a light shining from a doorway in the back. Then a shadow moved through the light for a split second before disappearing.
The two detectives made theyre way down the hallway, each taking out their guns just incase there was a threat. Sara held hers pointed up with both hands while Dan held his pointing down. Sara took point and continued ahead till she was at the door. She paused before moving into the doorway and pointed her gun inside while looking to see what was going on.
Her eyes met up with large golden feline eyes. A small purring sound came from the strange beast that she saw before her. Soon growling was emitted and large fangs were bared, dripping with saliva. It stood over 6 feet tall and took up some of the room. Thick black fur ran along its large muscled body. It resembled that of a human in some aspects. Two arms with clawed hands, then two legs in which it crouched upon that was also clawed. It had what appeared to be the head of a canine, snarling at her. A bushy tail swished with agitation as it looked to Sara with amber eyes. Large demonic wings were folded behind its back, covered with a much thinner layer of fur.
Saras eyes went wide in shock, surprise, and then fear as she saw the thing before her. It froze her in her tracks, her gun forgotten. Soon the world went black as someone hit her on the back of her head, causing her to lose consciousness. Dan looked down to the crumpled heap of his partner a moment as he stood over her holding the gun. Then looked to the monster he had brought from hell only hours before. Its wolfish ears twitched and then perked at him as it gave a snort and a growling noise of recognition. Soon it moved forward using all four limbs to walk much like an animal. Nose sniffing the now unconscious Sara.
Dan put his gun away and glanced back to make sure that no one else was around. Then looked to Sara. I did tell you to wait, it wouldve been nice if youd listen to me for once, now Ill have to find an explanation for your disappearance and be assigned a new partner.
Sara gave no response, in the state she was in now, it would be surprising if she woke up any time soon. He bent over, ignoring the beast as it kept hovering around the unconscious female, and picked her up. Moving around the beast and going into the room, which turned out to be a storeroom for the clubs supplies. He went past shelves to the back where a pallet of blankets had been made for the monster to rest on and set Sara down. Pulling out a pocketknife he bent over her and cut her wrists. Letting the smell of fresh blood fill the air.
The creature from hell came up behind him. Its nose quivering as the smell of blood reached it. Its eyes widened then a hungry look filled those animalistic eyes. Drool soon collecting in its mouth and running down its throat. Dan glanced back noticing how close the beast was and then stood. Already having made the mistake to trust his control over it. It looked to him as soon as he moved and gave a growl. Bearing its fangs once more before lunging at him.
Dan didnt even have a chance to scream before his throat was torn out and blood splattered against the wall. Claws tore into the mans body and ripped apart his chest, its teeth biting into flesh and pulling it from bones before chewing and swallowing. The creature from hell devoured the man in little more then thirty minutes. Little was left of him in the end. Bones, blood, bits of flesh and a long string of intestines was strewn out in a mess. The oblivious Sara covered in a gory mess.
Her demise was postponed as the beast laid down little over five feet away. Its belly full and its hunger content for the time being. Closing its eyes it seemed to sleep soon and time slowly passed the two by.
Sara soon woke up several hours later. A soft moan of pain escaping her lips as she opened her eyes and then moved to sit up. Looking to her surroundings as her eyes tried to focus in the dim light. Soon seeing the dried bloody mess surrounding her, when she noticed what was left of her partner the nauseating smell of flesh reached her nose causing her to vomit next to her on the floor.
She looked from the mess she had created when she noticed that blood was caked and dried upon her arms while it had soaked into her clothes, then dried and caused them to stiffen up. A growl brought her eyes from herself over to the beast that had awakened after hearing her stir. Her eyes went wide in fear as she looked to the beast that now rose to its feet. An evil and malicious look was in its dark eyes.
Sara looked around for a weapon rather quickly, seeing the torn shoulder holster that had once been Dans. His gun still in it, She grabbed it and got a shot out only it went wild as the monster had already come down upon her, striking out and nearly ripping her arm from its socket as the gun went flying. She gave a scream of pain, which only excited the beast, as well as the smell of fresh blood filled the air once more.
She moved to her feet and tried to run around the beast however it leapt at her, taking her to the ground and causing her to cry out once more. She kicked at the monster but was only rewarded in claws digging into her gut. Pain ran through her body and she gave another scream as the creature dug its hand into her, reaching up under the ribs and gripping her heart. Her screams was silenced as it ripped the heart from her body, cracking of bones were loud in the sudden silence as it tore through the chest cavity to bring the heart up to its awaiting jaws.
After devouring the heart it went on to feast upon the body of the once clever detective. More blood was thrown across the room as it ate messily and this time it left nothing but blood and bones as evidence of its gruesome acts. Giving a loud growl and snarl it cleaned the blood from its body. Then left the back of the storeroom and out the door. It felt the night around it outside the building. Soon it exited the back that it had been brought in through previously. Looking up to the full moon and the clear starry sky. A horrifying howl escaped from deep within, warning the city of the new horror that awaited it.
