Patience in adversity

Well, my car is only 9 months old and it is now officially been in an accident - didn't quite make it to the year old mark. This past Monday, I was driving to work and stopped at a red light. As the light turned green, I prepared to move off.

Suddenly I heard a bang and I was jerked to the front - luckily I had my seatbelt. Then before I could recover, I was jerked again. I looked back and saw a mercedes benz taxi behind me - he seemed okay and so we moved off the road so as not to obstruct traffic. We both checked our vehicles - what do you know; my bumper was cracked and dented while his car came off without a scratch. Mercedes Benz really build them good.

Anyway, since mine is new, I told him that I'd rather report to the insurance - let the insurance settled it. Luckily I made that decision, because afterwards, as I drove to work, I found my neck to be hurting, my head pounding and I felt nauseous. My colleague immediately advised me to go to the A&E. Since I drove there and not taken there by ambulance, it took them about 1 and 1/2 hours to see to my case. The doctor gave me two days medical leave and some pain killers...he only referred me to a polyclinic and didn't do anything else. I had expected that he would take some x-rays, but I guess he didn't think it was required.

Well, after that, I called my dad to come and fetch me. We went to the insurance company to report the accident. Now my car is in the workshop for 8 working days...poor me with no transportation. But that's not all; the next day, I went to the polyclinic and the doctor, who was also surprised that no x-ray were taken, ordered one for me. They found out that the disks in my neck are "pinching" on the nerves - causing the burning sensation in my shoulders and the pain shooting down my arms. So, now I've got to go see an orthopedic specialist because of this - the first appointment is in August. In the meantime, I am trying my best to endure the pain. As they say, when it rains, it pours. Just have to be patient in this test given to me.

Pray that I will recover soon.

Peace,

Sid
