Under a waterfall
Who knows that a waterfall can be theraputic? I had the chance to sit right beneath a waterfall a few days ago with its water pounding on my back. Given that I suffer from chronic backaches, the pounding water felt wonderful and soothing. Of course, it also helps in facilitating meditation. You just sit on one of the many boulders underneath the waterfall and just rest for the next couple of hours. There were some small rapids there too and we had fun sliding down them, though I had a panic moment when I couldn't stand on the slippery rocks at the bottom. My brother, being the more cautious of us, refused to play with the rapids. Instead he stuck to the safer waters and watched the fishes. Lots of fishes and many different species there too. Later in the night, I took my family out to watch the fireflies...anyone ever watched a live christmas tree? Well, this comes close. As we cruised along the Johore River, the trees on the banks of the river were all lit up like christmas trees. We also managed to hold some of the fireflies. Tiny creatures with heat and light radiating off their bodies; we were informed that they live only for fourteen days. We also managed to see a spotted owl, I think. It was perched on one of the branches along the river. On top of all these, the sky was clear enough for us to see all the major constellations. The night sky was filled with stars that we wouldn't be able to see in the city due to the bright lights. I marvel at God's creations. I am glad for the vacation as it got me back in touch with nature. Peace, Sid 2007-06-17 04:56:21 GMT
