Threat to Mecca by US Senator
I was reading an article regarding Senator Tancredo threatening to use nuclear against Mecca in order to deter terrorist's threats and the upheaval his comment is causing the Muslims in Pakistan and several other countries.

Other than being perplex as to how bombing Mecca would stop the terrorist threat, I find the Muslims' actions a bit upsetting. Why should they be upset about such a threat, which in the first place is a little ridiculous, when they should remember the verses of Surah Al-Fil (The Elephant) and the related incident of Abrahah and the Prophet's grandfather.

Abrahah, a great king, was upset that his place of worship which he had built so grandly had not garnered as much attention as the Kaabah in Mecca. So he decided to invade Mecca and destroy the Kaabah. When he came to the valley of Mecca, the Prophet's grandfather who was the chieftain of Mecca and the guardian of Kaabah came to meet him. Abrahah thought that the man was going to plead for his mercy. Instead, all the Prophet's grandfather did was ask that his sheep/camels be returned to him and that the Meccans were allowed to leave peacefully. Abrahah then asked him why he didn't plead for the Kaabah...this was what the Prophet's grandfather answer:

I ask for my camels/sheeps and my people because they are mine and therefore are my responsibility. The Kaabah belongs to God and He is responsible over it.

Abrahah invaded with his massive army and elephants, allowing the Meccans to leave. And yet, his army was struck with a malady and they all died before they could even tear one stone of the Kaabah.

So, I am not sure why people should get upset; Kaabah is the House of God, it belongs to God - and He is the best Protector there is. If He wishes it destroyed, then it is His to do as He wished. Similarly, if He wishes it survive, it will be so. No force, great or small, can contradict God's will. Far be it for me to take offense against someone who is foolish enough to go against God.

Peace.
