| About me: the middle years |

| Our family moved to Martinsville, Indiana when I was six years old.We arrived at our new home, a large house on a hill surrounded by trees and very secluded. Many people from our new church arrived to help us move in. Among them were twins about my age and their older teen sister, by whom we were entertained by being chased around in a game of tag. During this fun little game I fell down on a tree trunk and stood up with a large gash in my leg. I went into the house crying and my parents rushed me to the hospital.(Despite one lady's insistence that it was "just a little scratch.") Ha ha. My parents could see the bone my cut was so deep. At the hospital I was given a "teddy bear shot" as the doctors called it. Though trust me, the shot was anything but warm and cuddly. Then I was sewn up with nine stitches. Our cat Sherlock died that year due to kidney failure at the age of 8. We had a hard time adapting to not having a pet in the house so we adopted a puppy and named him Luke. Unfortunately, he wasn't a very nice dog and we aren't really dog people anway so we gave him to our pastor. They named him Grover and lived happily ever after until he died of some sort of sickness almost a year later. After giving up Grover we made another attempt to replace Sherlock with an abandoned kitten that was only a few days old. Unfortunately it died a few weeks later without its mother's natural nourishment. As you could imagine, by this time we were starting to think we were jinxed or something. So we made a final attempt at a new pet and finally hit the jackpot with the best kitten in the world. We named her Lily and she became my best friend. That might sound kinda sad that a cat was my best friend, but it was the truth. Despite my three-old-brother's seemingly desired and continual attempts to murder Lily, (like the day he tried give her a "bath" and then warm her up by stuffing her into a drawer), we lived happily ever after with her. Until,(oh boy, here we go again) we moved. We had to give her up to a nice lady we knew and as far as I'm concerned she's still living a happy kitty-life. Of course giving her up was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and I still miss her very much. This time we moved to Illnois, to a small town just outside of Chicago. While we were there we would sometimes take a train into Chicago and spend the day sightseeing. Chicago pizza is the best! Next we moved to Arizona. This time to a town right outside of Phoenix. It is very hot and dry there. It barely ever rained and there was practically no grass or trees. For Christmas I got a scooter. It was so hot that I scootered outside that day. On New Years Eve I went swimming. It never snowed. The next summer I broke my wrist while scootering when a guy swung out in front of my scooter on his. I tried to slam on my brakes, but instead I just went soaring into the air, landing on my arm with a crunch. (Pleasant, isn't it?) I recovered a few months later and had my pink cast removed. Then we moved to my favorite place, Princess Anne, Maryland. Just saying that name makes me happy. Princess Anne is a small peaceful town that barely anyone has ever heard of. Most of the houses are huge two hundred year old Victorians. I lived in one of the biggest of these. We had the only in-ground pool in the whole town. People were always trying to sneak into our pool when we weren't around. One day a whole neighborhood decided to have a pool party without our permission if we weren't there. Unfortunately for them, we were there and we called the police when we looked out of our window and saw forty people climbing over our fence and jumping into the pool. They totally ignored the "NO TRESPASSING" sign. Most of them got away when the police came but a few were caught and warned. In Maryland I met my best friend, Bethany, who lived right across the street from me. I miss her and her six brothers and sisters very much. Then when I was in the sixth grade we moved to Michigan, and that's where I learned to play violin. We went to a huge church with about five thousand people called Kentwood Community Church. Then we moved back here to where I was born and I've continued to enjoy playing violin and making lots of friends. |
