They appear in our lives
People of importance, of significance
They lend an ear, a shoulder,
An occasional word of advice
Slowly they become more and
More entangled in out frantic lives

Sometimes they stay for a season
Perhaps a year,
And very rarely,
A lifetime

We may not see what
They mean to us at
The time, but
Eventually their love is realized
Hopefully, it is seen in time
To be shared

Perhaps all that is needed
Is a quiet Sunday morning
In the garden, sipping tea,
Discussing how confused
We once were
