Home:Reviews:Resident Evil Index:Nemesis.html

An adaptation from the much celebrated Resident Evil: Nemesis computer game where Capcom pits the skill of disgraced S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine against the relentless horror of the Tyrant Class T-Virus bioweapon Nemesis and introduces a new addition of Carlos Oliveira. While the computer game fills us with dread at each turn wondering if Nemesis will be around the corner, S.D. Perry fails miserably in that respect. The horror and dread of the computer game is very much lacking in her writing and turning what should be a thriller story into a narration. Again, the story feature a mad egotistical character, this time under the name of Nicholai, a soldier of fortune. His slow descent into complete madness with each setback at the hands of Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira which eventually cost him his life is pretty much anticipated and too little attention is paid to the budding relationship of Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira. The only thing the author manage to portray very well is the abundance of conspiracies which is one of the main attractions of the Resident Evil World. This book is a decent enough read if you are going for mindless relaxation but not for any hoping to really get the flavour of the Resident Evil World.
