Like the first book, the author sets the story in motion with a series of newspaper articles detailing the aftermath of the
first book. Umbrella being the all powerful evil in the story manages to cover up the debacle of the Spencer Estate and
discredit the S.T.A.R.S. who tried to expose them. This book sees the introduction of 2 more of the main characters in the
saga of Resident Evil - David Trapp and John Andrews. Again, the story without much foreplay dives into gunfights and undeads
as David Trapp leads his S.T.A.R.S. and Rebecca Chambers into another Umbrella facility which is lost to the virus. This time
however, the virus is not released by an accident but rather deliberately by one of their employees who is completely insane.
Enter the villain Nicolas Griffith who believes that the world will be a better place populated by the undead. This mad
villain theme is repeated in several of the sequels with some variations but not enough to be entirely original. Anyway, as
the story progresses, the S.T.A.R.S. team are again killed off one by one and by the end of the story, only David, John and
Rebecca remains. Having witness one of their own being infected with the virus and turning into one of the undead, the
protagonists predictably goes through the guilt - vegeance routine which is pretty much the essence of this book. Again,
if this type of story is your cup of tea, well and good. If not, it is definitely not worth the time.
