XR Koon / Quan Jon (depending on whether or not you are unfortunately in battle with him ), was born in approximately 36 B.E (Before Endor; this is the standard timescale used here - B.E or A.E - After Endor), on the planet Qual Na, located somewhere in the Unknown Regions. He was brought up by the Clan's (not this clan, the settlement clan) cheif weaponscrafter, and as such has an encyclopaedic knowledge of weapons used on the planet. (The Lightsaber especially; it intrigued him from an early age and he manifested a great interest in it.) Advancing in age and ego, he began to think of himself as one of the future leaders of the clan's government (this at the tender age of five), but proved to be too arrogant to be closely involved with the colony's government. (He believed not in the republic but more in the workings of the infamous Exar Kun). This, perhaps, was not a bad thing, for, when the Republic vessel Star Dancer crashed on the planet, althrough this crash would have been heard from miles around it quite conveint that Quan Jon was nearest to the wreakage, this was ideal for him to investigate the wreckage before the others. This, fortunately (or unfortunately, as the stuck-in-tradition government tries to claim) contained several remote distress drones, which announced the position of the downed ship. A recovery vessel, the Flash Code (actually a Victory-class Star Destroyer operating on the edge of Wild Space), was dispatched to investigate and recover any possible survivors. Qual Na was not a densely populated planet; the largest city was comprised of a rather limited 38,000 people, but the Flash Code was aware of some sort of sentient life on the planet when her crew detected a (now familiar to clan members) five-year old voice shouting out, in basic, "Is there anyone in the domed metal box?" (Actually an R3-series droid). It was now that the crew of the Flash Code realised that there may be a point in the exploration of the Unknown Regions. Quan's life was greatly changed by his removal from Qual Na; the people of his planet had, according to Republic historians, obviously been descended, originally, from two force-sensitive humans. This meant that, in all probability, that the inhabitants of the planets were all force-sensitive, though to different levels. Quan first revealed his powers one morning when, in a fit of rage, he used his control of his ego to wrench a glass of water from a Rodian's hands (not TOO difficult, considering the spindliness of Rodian fingers, but still...). The Jedi Council was made aware of the event, and summonned him for testing. He underwent a large variety of tests; while asked to describe the object on a datapad he couldn't see, he stated, on 177 different occasions, that he wanted it for HIMSELF!. However, he DID guess exactly what the object was, so they sent him to someone who would calm the rage before it was too late, the Jedi council sent him packing to go socialise with a Jedi Master who had a great fondness for Spiced Wine. This Master, although normally a little tipsy, was sobered by the vision he got of Quan - A three-headed human with wings - (The effect of uncle Al's three flavoued Corellian Whisky) and only regretted taking him on as an apprentice once he realised that his little student wasn't odd at all, just the product of a drunken mind. He became quite dedicated to Quan, however, and taught him all he knew (mostly, "The 101 Best Bars in Coruscan's Underbelly") Please note that the Jedi master althrough not what any apprentice would expect he was still one of the most renowned teachers on that planet and many others. By now the Empire was formed and Quan was forced to finish his training back on Quan Na which was still uncharted space. It was this event that shaped his future. His traning was conducted in a cave (Although not ideal, it was better than a one on one with Vader). His training ended when he was twenty. It had been over 15 years since he had last socialised, and it was time to join humanity once more. This was, by far, the most important turning point of his life...the most important decision he would ever have to make...something which would shape his future...and his past. As this would be Quan's first chance back into civilisation he quite prompty chose his place of birth, his family...all the little things which define a person's identity. For a family, he chose only those he had never met, and never would - what was the reason behind this? For an identity...a simple merchant, well versed in the art of deceit, but badly so in the art of life. And, slowly, he went about the business of trying to piece together a vestige of his previous, simple life. The planet had changed little during his absence; still a lack of...was it feeling? There was an emptiness about the place, an emptiness which seemed to betray some deeper, more sinister object hidden underneath the carefree, ignorant souls of the populace. Then it occurred to him. The force. It no longer accepted the planet as something worthy...something worthy of his feelings. It dawned on him, slowly, that something had happened to the ones who he had returned to consult; those among the inhabitants who were sufficiently force-sensitive to realize the power they could acheive. |
