Season Preview: 2001
by Scott Sypien

LOST KENNYWOOD, PA -- The 2001 season has arrived and of course there are many questions to be answered. This preview will hopefully answer them as we give you the who, what, where, when, and why to start the new year.

Who are the new additions to the 2001 crew? As the season opens Lost Kennywood has six new faces added to the mix. Here is a rundown of just who they are:

  • Amanda Chuba - This Kennywood vet returns for her fourth season and her first in Lost Kennywood. Amanda, who prefers just to be called Chuba, spent her first three seasons at the Auto Ride/Train crew before making the move this season.
  • Bryan Abbott - Another veteran of many Kennywood seasons. Abbott spent time on The Ark, Merry Go Round, and Exterminator crew in years past.
  • Rolanda Lawson - This is Rolanda's first season in Lost Kennywood but not the park. Last year Rolanda got a taste of what Kennywood is all about working at the front gates.
  • Chaz McDowell - Like Rolanda this is his first season inn Lost Kennywood but not the park. Over the past two years Chaz has served up some award winning food at Midway Refreshments.
  • Diane Messick - A midseason hire last season, Diane spent most of her time at the Aero360 last year but also aided The Ark crew near seasons end. This season she will be a full time member of The Lost Kennywood crew.
  • Ann Frazier - Makes her way to Lost Kennywood via Kiddieland. Ann looks forward to dealing an older crowd this season after spending much of last year aiding and assisting the under 46 inch crowd.
What is new for 2001? New seatbelts on The Pittfall. All riders must buckle up before they enjoy their ride. At the Wipeout, the ride attendant must stay in the line area and not in the booth.

Where are things located? Cleaning supplies will be kept at The Pittfall and under the games building. Odersorb will be given out by the games workers, they have a supply in the back room. The sign out sheet and schedule will be located at The Pittfall.

When do we open full time? May 14th is the first Monday of the season we are opened. From then into Labor Day, Kennywood is opened daily.

Why do we all work in Lost Kennywood? Well besides the paycheck. We all work in Lost Kennyood because it is the best crew in the park year in and year out.
