The Rides

The Waveswinger
Kennywood brought the Waveswinger to the park in 1984. The ride was placed across from the entrance to Noah's Ark. It spent nearly a decade in this location before it was removed in 1994 for one season to be refurbished. The following season Kennywood brought back the Waveswinger in its largest expansion ever, Lost Kennywood.  This ride is manufactured by a German company called Zierer.

The "Swings" as most people call it has become a popular fixture at Kennywood. With a capacity of 48 swings, many riders can cool off on hot days as they fly through the air. To ride this ride you have to at least 46 inches tall. You also must wear shoes on this ride at all times.

The Wipeout
In 1993 Kennywood purchased the Wipeout for its new attraction. It was placed in the spot that normally was the home of the Enterprise. This was one of two temporary locations for this ride. In 1994 a refurbished Enterprise was back and the Wipeout was moved into the spot the Waveswinger had been located near Noah's Ark. Once again this was only a temporary home. With the start of the 1996 season the Wipeout was moved to its present day home of Lost Kennywood right next to the Waveswinger.  This ride is manufactured by Chance.

The Wipeout is a toss and turn "get you sick" ride. Like the Waveswinger you must be at least 46 inches tall to ride. One added note You MUST have a Partner to ride this ride.

The Pittsburg Plunge
The Pittsburg Plunge is Lost Kennywood's centerpiece attraction. Manufactured by O.D. Hopkins it is a reproduction of the "shoot the chutes" rides that were popular during the first half of the 20th century.

One of three water rides at Kennywood Park. The boats make quiet a spash as they travel down the 60 foot hill at approximately 34 mph. A great ride to ride on warm summer days. Most people can ride since all riders 36 inches or taller can ride as long as they are with a parent. If your 46 inches or above you are able to ride by yourself. There are two boats running during the year. Each boat sits up to 20 people. This size of the boats allows many people to ride this ride during the day. Are you ready to "Take the Plunge"

The PittFall
New to Kennywood for the 1997 season. The Pittfall replaced the classic Phantom Flyers which were sent to sister park, Lake Compounce. Manufactured by Intamin, the Pitt Fall brings riders to the top of a 251 foot tower and lets them freefall back toward the ground at approximately 65 to 70 mph until they are stopped by permanent magnetic brakes. The view from the top can provide you with a beautiful view of Lost Kennywood, the Monongahela River, Phantom's Revenge, or the rest of the park, depending on what side of the tower you are seated on. The ride is over in about 3 seconds and you'll want to go on again and again after your first time.
