When a Power Word: Kill spell is uttered, the caster affects multiple creatures that fall within a 15-foot radius. The power word spell slays up to 200 total worth of hit points with each creature's current hit points falling below 100. For example, this spell may kill one giant with 96 current hit points, one orc with 59 current hit points, and the remaining creature'(s) total hit points must fall under 45 in order for them to be affected by this spell. The creatures with the most hit points are affected first, while the one with the least hit points are affected. If two creatures have the same current hit points, the closer one is affected first. Creatures with a current hit point total over 100 hit points are not affected and do not count against the number of creatures affected. Even if the maximum hit points of the affected targets are higher than the maximum value, the current hit points are used for this determination. There is no saving throw, but magic resistance and a Death Ward will cease this spell from functioning.
