This spell is also known as Xalmo's Protection from Beat-down. After several instances of being beaten around by half-giants and thri-kreen, Xalmo researched this spell. It creates a protective force field against physical attacks around the caster.

When cast, an invisible aura of force is created around the caster. The aura is not totally indestructible, but can withstand 6 hit points of damage per level of the caster before being destroyed. This aura will only protect the caster against physical harm from both magical and non-magical attacks. Non damage-based spells such as Hold Person, Polymorph Other, and Power Word, Kill are not affected by this spell. When the force aura is struck, it shimmers blue at the point of impact, and there is a bright blue flash at the point of impact when it is destroyed.

Multiple castings of this spell do not provide cumulative protection, and leaving the current area will dispel the spell.
