Disintegrate
(Alteration)
Level: Bard 6, Mage 6, Sorcerer 6
Range: visual range of the caster
Casting Time: 6
Duration: permanent
Area of Effect: 1 creature
Saving Throw: 1/2
The
illustrious and semi-derranged sorcerer, Saradun
Orctongue, is believed to have formulated this spell
while his warrior escort was being annihilated by
green death lasers from a dungeon's ancient defense
system. In fact, most of Saradun's spells were most
likely formulated from the means in which his traveling
companions met their fates. Duplicating perfectly
the dematerialization effect of the aeons-old technology,
Saradun's incantation creates a beam of anti-matter,
which instantly neutralizes any solid substance
it contacts.
Upon
casting this spell at a point of designation, a
thin green ray is shot out. Upon contact, any creature
caught by the ray must make a saving throw against
spells or be transformed into dust. This transformation
is instantaneous and irreversible. Even at a successful
saving throw the creature will be partially disintegrated
~ 1D2 points of magic damage for every level the
caster will be inflicted upon the unfortunate target.
There is also a good chance that this will destroy
some if not all of the items that the creature is
carrying.
If
cast on an object (not a creature), the disintegrate
spell may be used to disintegrate key-holes, physical
barriers (such as tortoise shell, otiluke's telekinetic
sphere, cave-ins caused by the earthquake spell,
and forcecage). Magical barriers such as Globe of
Invulnerability, Spell Trap, and Spell Turning remain
unaffected.
