Blade Barrier (Invocation/Evocation)
Level: Cleric 6, Druid 6, Paladin 6
Sphere: Guardian, Creation
Range: Self
Duration: 1 turn
Casting Time: 9
Area of Effect: 10-foot radius
Saving Throw: None
The priest employs this spell to set up an immobile wall of circling, razor-sharp blades. These whirl and flash around a central point (the caster), creating an immobile barrier. Any creature attempting to pass through the Blade Barrier suffers 8d8 points of damage. The plane of rotation of the blades can be horizontal, vertical, or in between. Creatures within the area of the barrier when it is invoked are entitled to a saving throw vs. spell. If this is successful, the blades are avoided and no damage is suffered; the creature escapes the area of the blade barrier by the shortest possible route. The barrier remains for ten rounds after the casting. The caster may walk out of a Blade Barrier, but risks of being affected by the blades. Magical means of traveling such as a Dimension Door may provide a safer route.
Note that creatures within the center (not just the caster) aren't affected by the Blade Barrier.
