Astral Projection (Necromancy) [replaces Energy Drain]
Level: Mage 9, Sorcerer 9
Range: self
Casting Time: 1 round
Duration: 3 turns
Area of Effect: 20 foot radius sphere
Saving Throw: none
The
character projects the character's astral self into
the Astral Plane, leaving the character's physical
body behind on the Material Plane in a state of
suspended animation. The spell projects an astral
copy of all the characters falling within 20 feet
of the original caster and all the items they are
wearing or carrying onto the Astral Plane. The character
then leaves the Astral Plane, forming a new physical
body (and equipment) on the same plane as where
the character currently stands at. The characters'
astral body and their respective characters is connected
at all times to the character's material body by
a silvery cord. If the cord is broken, the character
is killed. Luckily, there are very few means of
destroying the silver cord. If the second body or
the astral form is slain or the character chooses
to destroy his/her own projection or the duration
expires or even when the spell is dispelled, the
cord simply returns to the character's body where
it rests on the Material Plane, reviving it from
its state of suspended animation. Although astral
projections are able to function as the character,
the projection is unable to execute any action made
by physical force. Spellcasting however is possible,
as it doesnt require the projection to materialize.
Only magical weapons may harm any of the projected
bodies. The character and the character's companions
may travel through the Astral Plane at any time
to reappear elsewhere.
