Who's your friend?
Do you know who your friends are?
Are they there for you like you're there for them
Are they straight with you
How many times have they hurt you
How many times did you feel the knife twist in your back
How many times were you the "other person"
You know, the one standing there
While your friend got hit on
While they talked to your friend and fell in lust
You were the silent one
The shy one
The average-looking one
The one who ached to be talked to
The one who just stood there
How many times did your friend say he would come over to hang out
Then, how many times did he not show
How many times did she promise she'd be over to comfort you
She was nowhere to be found when you called
So who's your friend?
These people claim to be your real friends
The only real friend in this world is yourself
You know what hurt feels like, don't you
You know about plastic promises
About plastic wishes and plastic dreams
You are reliable and always there
When was the last time your friends let you down
An hour ago
Last week
Yesterday
Three years ago
You never forgot
Things so trivial to others are most painful to you
You remember it
You remember every single incident
Do you know who your friends are
Are you wasting your time with them
They won't come through, you know that
Do you hang out with them to sometimes try to build up your self-confidence?
Pray that the confidence will rub off on you?
How many times did they embarrass you
They looked cool in front of that pretty girl
You looked stupid standing there
Everyone ignored you
How many times have you been alone in a public place
Who's your friend when you're all alone
A voice, a song
A daydream
A movie scene
Who is your friend
Someone who is not in it to gain something
Someone who is there for you because they want to be
Who is your friend
Darkness
A favorite lyric
Pain
A springtime rain
A powerful drain
Who is your friend
When your head is all twisted
When you've lost your mind
When breathing takes too much time
Who is your friend
How many times did they...
Too many to count
What does it feel like when no one understands you
Not even your friends
What does it feel like to have acquaintances but not true friends
What does it feel like when they say your writing doesn't make sense
They always say, "Oh that's just the way he is"
Who is your friend
In the end
Who pretends they're your friend?
