I'm Anthony, and I play bass and scream for Glasseater.

What about the other guys? What does each do?
Anthony
J.C. on lead guitar, julio on drums, ariel on rhythm and screams, jason on vocals.

Has that always been the line-up?
Anthony
Well at first they had a different bassist, but before they toured he didn't wanna do it. So Jason and I were friends, and he asked me to play, and from there I was permanent. Some other time they had Matt Hulud play bass for us.

Do you think the chemistry in the band is good?
Anthony
Yeah, its never better. We're all great friends.

Has the musical style changed at all since you joined?
Anthony
Well I joined six months after the band started, so I'd say no. Musically since we started we have changed a lot, and were still changing. We'll always be Glasseater, but always progressing.

It's good to see bands grow and experiment. Do you hope to express any particular message?
Anthony
Naw none really, just to have fun and stay positive.

That's a message in itself...what bands have influenced Glasseater? What about you personally?
Anthony
umm, We listen to Dream Theater almost all day. Other than that a lot of metal and 80's stuff.

I don't suppose you shared the stage with any of those mentioned?
Anthony
ACTUALLY....in atlanta after we played our set, the bassist from Skid Row was outside, and we talked to him a bit and after Fairweather's set. He wanted to hear our cover of "I Remember You". So we suggested him playing bass for us, and he agreed, it was awesome. Oops ::dropped his computer::

Speaking of playing, are there any plans to tour in the near future?
Anthony
We just got back from doing a week with Fairweather, and that was great. We leave again in November (2001) with Bane, and Reach the Sky. We're planning a few weeks in December (2001), but nothing's set yet.

Do you feel like explaining a little bit about the previous tour?
Anthony
That tour was great. We immediately became great friends with those kids. All the dates went well for both of us, and we all had fun, and on the last day we pooped all over their door handles.

We have our old cd "Miles Ahead of Where We Left Off" on Dead Droid Records now with 2 new unreleased songs, and our repress of "7 Years Bad Luck", you can find almost anywhere on Fearless Records.

Fearless is an established label. whats it like being signed to it?
Anthony
Great! They've worked super hard to get our name out there more than we could imagine. They support us through everything, its great. We couldn't ask for more from those guys

That's awsome, you worked for it. So you're not so quick to change if the opportunity arises?
Anthony
Well we take everything day by day..we still have awhile with Fearless so were in no hurry ..but yet if the opportunity arises, we would have to see whats best for the band before making any decision.

Anything new coming that we can all look forward to?
Anthony
We're going to be in the studio sometime in February or March for the new record. It's gonna be great. We have a few songs already written and its gonna sound amazing .

What direction will the recording be taking?
Anthony
We're recording with James Wisner, who did further seems Forever's album, amongst other bands, like Rocking Horse Winner and Underoath. He's an amazing engineer, and we've
worked with him twice..once for 2 new songs on the re-release of "Miles Ahead", and another time for the Weezer Tribute cd. He's great. He has tons of ideas, and works really hard for us.

Its all about the support...whats this about a Weezer Tribute cd?

Dead Droid Records is putting a Weezer tribute cd that should be out in January, lots of great bands are on it, its gonna be awesome. You can look for updates at www.deaddroidrecords.com.

Do you recall any of the bands included on that tribute?
Anthony
I know Further Seems Forever is on it, and Dashboard Confessional. I totally forgot who else though. It says it on the site though.

That's cool, Dashboard Confessional has a good following. What do you think about the Florida's music scene?
Anthony
ehh, I think it sucks. A lot of great bands come out of Florida, but I think the scenes here have died.

Shows aren't the same. Its all about fashion now

I agree. too many people come in without the knowledge and understanding of what its all about. A few words for those people??
Anthony
I'd rather not say..but I think everyone should understand that this scene is all about accepting everyone for who they are and what they believe. I find it disturbing that a lot of people in the scene stand by that, yet find a certain "group" of kids that they discriminate against, totally forgetting that we are all part of the same scene, and working to make it better. Being that this scene is about accepting everyone for who and what they believe, I just find it upsetting that people are still close-minded about certain aspects.

Unfortunately I understand all to well, maybe someone will hear you. Are there any notable bands in this area that have a good influence?

Underoath, Figure Four, A Jealousy Issue, and Seville, are all local bands that are truly worth checking out. Also keep a look out for Blood In Blood Out.

hahhaha, That's funny, not many people ask about our name. Its actually off a Simpsons episode, the one where Marge becomes a cop. In one point I think Millhouse or Bart is reading "Glasseater Magazine"

I see. Did this have anything to do with the Simpson family values, or was it basically a random thing the you came across?

It was totally random. While we were thinking of a name we ran across that episode.
