| LA NewsCenter EXTRA Up Close: Barbara Beck Resigns from KTLA Mornings will never be the same in Los Angeles. Barbara Beck, Carlos Amezcua and the rest of the KTLA Morning News team practically invented mornings here in LA. Barbara and Carlos were LA's longest running newsteam. They were together for ten years. That is like an eternity here in LA. Barbara left the station after a dispute with management and KTLA insiders report that Beck and Morning News Executive Producer Marcia Brandwynne didn't get along. I remember when Michele Ruiz left KTLA in 1998 for KNBC. KTLA's morning ratings took a nose dive, but the show survived and in 1999 the show got some of the highest ratings that they have seen in years. Unfortunately, the same thing can't be said for Barbara Beck. She and Carlos had an amazing chemistry and the ratings will suffer. I hope that KTLA management has enough sense not to put Sharon Tay into Barbara's old seat. Replacing a class act with a younger face is an insult. Hopefully, Barbara will land on her feet at another Los Angeles station sometime soon. Barbara....We'll miss you!! Good Luck! [email protected] |
