La Habra 9, Los Altos 2
New backstops for the Conquerors.....
Don't rub it!!!!
The Conquerors were not able to produce a victory in its home opener. The offense that had been potent in the first three games fizzled as Los Altos mustered only five hits off of La Habra starting pitcher Victor Velasco, who went the distance allowing only 2 runs on 5 hits. La Habras errorless defense also contributed to the victory.

Los Altos starting pitcher Mike Ahumada threw five innings.  Despite giving up 6 runs on 6 hits, only 2 of the runs were earned.  Two errors in the 4th and 5th innings proved costly as La Habra was able to convert the Conqueror mistakes into a comfortable lead that it would not relinquish. Tough luck starter Ahumada also had an unusual day at the plate, going 0 for 0, with 2 HBP.  On being asked why he was beaned twice, Ahumada responded, It was like I had baseball magnets on the back of my uniform. Today was just not my day. I need to go back home, reflect on my experience and make a drawing about it.

Senior Max Nazaroff made his first start for the Conquerors in centerfield.  In addition to making a sliding catch in center field, getting on base via a bunt hit, Nazaroff also was part of a BHR (Batted Ball Hits Runner) play in which Catcher/2B Josh Cortez hit a single to the right side of the infield that could not elude Nazaroffs left cleat.

The Conquerors will resume action on Saturday, March 13 @ 11:00 AM at La Habra High School in an attempt to finish at 3rd place in the tournament.
