Sophomore Adrian Cota started the charge in the first inning with a double with one out in the 1st inning. Junior Daniel Sandello drove in Cota to start the Conquerors off to a 1-0 lead. Junior and corn-husking specialist Jesus Rivera added to the offense with a leadoff double in the 3rd inning and scored as Cota continued his offense surge with a double to give the Conquerors a 2-0 advantage.
And there was more offense to come. In Jason Estrada�s first at-bat, he meekly popped up to shortstop and came back to the dugout looking very flustered. �That swing was weak,� Estrada said, �I need to make an adjustment,� Apparently, he made that adjustment. Leading off the fourth inning, Estrada crushed the ball 387 feet over the right field fence for the first Conqueror homerun of the year. Junior Eddie Tomsio, and his team-leading OBP of .667, gave the Conquerors another run with a single that scored Ahumada to give Los Altos a 4-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Sandello walked, and Estrada nearly missed a second homerun in his next at-bat in the fifth inning, settling for a double off the right-field fence. A defensive miscue by Morningside gave the Conquerors two more runs to give the Conquerors a comfortable 6-0 lead.
Morningside nearly made a game out of it, as they finally got to Ahumada in the sixth inning with a leadoff single and subsequent double. They scored two runs that inning to end Ahumada�s shutout bid and narrow the Conqueror margin to 6-2.
In the bottom of the 6th, Rivera made certain that Morningside would not make a comeback. He launched a 3-1 fastball over the left-center field fence to increase the Conqueror lead to 7-2. Ahumada closed out the game in the top of the 7th inning with two K�s and a pickoff at first base to end the game.
