Jealousy
Eyes dark, hard and set,
Across the room, eyes met.

Gazes held, one slowly wavered,
The other continued, filled with hatred.

A clear mind worked, silently scheming,
Hooded eyes tense, softly glowering.

Patiently, carefully, holding back,
Afraid to unleash wrath without slack.

Eyes closed, heads turned,
Her lesson she had learned.

A feeling was present, she never knew,
As fresh to her as morning dew.

Hatred gave way to frustration,
She tried to hide from the confusion.

Watery eyes, blinking away tears,
Of this foolishness, he will not hear.

Humiliation burnt within every fibre,
He was a snake, a treacherous liar.

Deep down she knew, deep down inside,
The fault wasn't his, she pushed something aside.

Her utmost detest had come true,
Nothing she did would do.

Something burned, scorched her heart painfully,
This was what it was. The flame of jealousy.
