Embracing The Darkness
She took a step, the sand sank beneath her feet,
Her nerves once so strong, now overwrought,
A sigh of surrender she finally let out,
And fell to the ground, resting gracefully.
She closed her eyes, and imagined that all was right,
The tears came falling, washing away her hurt,
She was angered, but too overwrought for anymore battles,
She fought bravely, for her fears to overcome.

She crossed many oceans, triumphant as always,
But this time she falls, she falls deep,
This battle is one she cannot win,
The river of lost memories engulfs her.
Raging through her mind were visions of her past,
Of her being raped of her innocence,
She screamed.
But no sound was heard,
Her cries, muffled by the many lost memories.

Darkness had taken over this forbidden land.
She cried out again,
It echoed through the darkness.
Her lost memories still estrangled her,
She was lost, in her very own past.
Fear took over and she shrieked endlessly.

She shook, muttering prayers in hope of saving herself.
What she was afraid of she did not know.
Her body tensed once again as another memory swept by,
It was dark, so dark, the little girl was so afraid,
A ghost of the future she saw,
The little girl screamed,
He left.

She shuddered as she awoken to bitter reality,
The ghost of her fears remained.
Instilled deep in her heart.
She awoke with eyes so blank,
Cold and hard, smooth like glass.

She calmed herself once again,
A hysterical smile curved her parched lips,
She ran.
Like the scared little girl she once was,
She embraced the darkness,
He embraced her.

She no longer had to fight,
He was there for her, to comfort and understand her.
She smiled at him.
She no longer feared him,
She was a part of him.
She hushed and faded within the night.
